Tavern at Bown Crossing
Dinner was fantastic! And, I tried a new drink, Pink Pear. Very good. We’ll be back. Thanks for a great evening.
We informed the restaurant before and at arrival that it was wife’s 50th birthday, they didn’t even acknowledge it. My steak was so salty I had to send back, which I never do. A new steak returned after everyone was done eating. Sorry, not a good experience.
It was ok. We’ve been many times but we
Were seated right next to the door even tho we’d made reservations a couple days before. It was just very drafty. Service wasn’t real swift. But they did bring all our entrees together. Food was good.
It took 40 after we ordered to get our food and when we finally got it it was cold. It also was too late to do anything about it because we had an event to get to.
The Kung-pao calamari was amazing!!! Will definitely be back!
The Tavern is always our go to place!!
We picked this because it is close to the airport, and we wanted to have dinner with friends who were catching a flight. Food was good, something on the menu for everyone, from Sushi to Pasta to a killer burger. I would probably give it a 5 except it was extremely noisy with a crowd just back from skiing and talking as if they were still on the slopes. Even though we live out at Middleton, we'll probably be back.
Lovely dinner - only issue - which is out of the Tavern's hands, was very very loud, shouty man at the table next to us - maybe tables need to be spaced a little farther apart - with soundproof partitions - lol
Always great food and excellent service. Best burgers in town.
Service was not rushed. The food was good, although the bruschetta appetizer was a bit unwieldy. The champagne sauce on the scallops was a bit overwhelming, as though the sauce had not cooked long enough to temper the flavor of the alcohol. The steak was properly prepared and delicious and the coconut shrimp appetizer was outstanding!
Best nachos anywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great tavern cut ribeye. Great service. Great atmosphere. Just plain great
We ordered our steak medium. It came medium well. As much as we dine at The Tavern we should have been comped for the meal. Never had this problem before.
Steak was excellent
Food & service were excellent as always. Whenever we visit Boise we come dine here.
Food is always spot on. Sushi is excellent.
Had a great night out. This was our first time checking this place out and will most likely be back soon. Food and drinks were good. Waitress seemed happy, friendly and energetic.
Food was really good. Unfortunately the service was very bad. Service doesn’t line up with the price of the food.
My favorite restaurant ever! Amazing food, service and ambiance!
Took a guest for their first time on a Saturday night. Restaurant was very busy, the bar was very slow at getting our drinks, but food arrived at reasonable time. Food was very good, the salmon was excellent. Also ordered the potatoes au gratin which was a huge portion and the fresh veggies were nicely cooked. We all enjoyed our meals and our friend was impressed.
It’s always amazing at The Tavern
Great location. Salads and steaks are fantastic. mahi-mahi and chicken dishes not fabulous
Elisa was great, sushi has been amazing lately. Good people at the Tav.
The Tavern is one of our favorite spots in Boise. We will be back.
Your menu is okay but 2 pages of sushi? The other most offered option is beef which is okay some of the time. Was glad to see your special was fish that night. Need to offer more options like that. And your prices are high I think mostly because of the neighborhood. Can get same type of menu just as good for far less at other places. Your wine pours are pretty small for the price. service was very good. why I needed a reservation at 4 pm was beyond me.
Excellent American cuisine with Idaho flavor. Restaurant is an active community supporter and member of local Chamber of Commerce, always a positive.
Lots of good food choices and very flavorful.
Nice place for get together or dinner - wife variety of food options !
I went here in Summer time. Patio nice, food good, service slow. Nice location.
Great service from the staff. Good wine selection and the food is prepared exactly as ordered. A real neighborhood tavern feel to the place; it seems like you can start up a chat at anytime.
The angel hair pasta with the lemon tarragon sauce and lobster tail was amazing!!! My mouth still waters just thinking about it!
Good food with generous reasonably priced offerings. Not a quiet cozy nook but not overly noisy either. Prompt friendly service by an attentive server who got the order correct and refilled drinks without us asking. It is all the way across town from our home but we will be back.
Service was great! I really need to sit in a low booth and the hostess was very accommodating. I have conditions that call for me to need low, comfortable seating, I am not just being picky. My husband and I eat brunch at the Tavern frequently and there have been times when I have been forced to sit at a high table even when we had a reservation and I asked for a booth. But this last time, they accommodated us - thankfully as we love coming there!
Good food and service. However, the air conditioning was broken on half of the restaurant, we had a reservation, but were not given the option to wait for an “air conditioned” table, we were not even told it was out, we overheard the bartender telling other guests. It wasn’t the best experience we’ve had at this location. If we had been notified ahead of time, we could have made more comfortable plans.
The AC was marginal and it was exceedingly hot. For the quality, meals were overpriced. The salmon was okay, but the halibut was over cooked and salty. The Owyhee Tavern is better quality and ambience.
We had a party of 8 and made a reservation. The place was perfect! Delicious food and happy friendly service. Their happy hour was great although it did seem to take an extra long time to get our food. Will definitely go again, though!
Had a great dinner to celebrate a birthday. Food and service were great.
The staff were friendly, but the service was slow. My steak was cooked as I asked for it, and my friend liked her fish. The vegetables were nicely done. Our waitress was very nice, but seemed to be rushed. Appetizer course didn't take too long, but salads lagged, and main course was even slower. We had to ask for bread twice. My friend's steak was extremely undercooked, as was my husband's to a lesser extent. He even wondered whether the steaks were frozen, as they were well cooked on exterior but very rare in the middle. My husband's baked potato was cold; the butter had not even melted. We might have sent the steaks and baked potato back to the kitchen for further cooking, but service was so slow we ran out of time; we had to pick up tickets at Shakespeare Festival by specific time. We probably would have ordered dessert (and at least taken it to go) but there was no time. There were definitely some very nice aspects of our meal, but a few too many missteps to recommend to a friend.
My salmon was barely warm, and lacked the grilled crust I have come to expect at the Tavern. The meat was very soft and lacked flavor. The steamed vegetables that come with the salmon consisted of 3 green beans 2 asparagus and a few slivers if carrots. The loaded baked potato was not warm enough to melt the butter. The finish on the table top was so softened it was sticky and our wine glasses stuck to the table.
The last time I ate here, our waitress asked my friends and I to finish and leave because there were other customers coming in a few minutes.
Both the quality of the food and the service has diminished over the last couple of years. I have not eaten at their downtown location, perhaps the owners cannot maintain two quality restaurants.
Service was good food was fair...salad was average, lamb was to be cooked medium rare two chops were medium and two were rare. Vegetables were over cooked and yam was discolored on top and hard as a rock until you dug into center. Ok for a cocktail but I’d think twice before dinning at this place.
