The duck wasn't very good texture wise. It was chewy and had some sort of gristle in one bite ..... the flavor was good though.... the halibut plate was delicious!!! The carrot puree sublime! Loved the bread.....Not crazy about having to pay an extra 3.5% to cover insurance of FT employees. Doesn't seem like that should be the patrons responsibility.....
We are always greeted warmly. Tonight I had noted that it was a special occasion and we were offered glasses of champagne and wished happy anniversary. Food was delicious as always.
Horrible service. Took more than an hour to get our main course. Noise was deafening.
Birthday celebration. Asked for a corner table because of event and age (noise level). Gave us the perfect table. Service top notch. Food very good. Provided a special occasion
This is a good restaurant with great service. The food quality is good as well.
Salad was disappointing as no discernible vegs and hardly any anchovy in dressing. Entre was fine and waiter very attentive. Wine too expensive.
Each St. Paddy’s Day, I celebrate with a small group at Tavern. We all love your corned beef — but this year was the best it’s been. We all thought so, and we had a terrific time!
Despite the restaurant being less than busy, we did not have great service. I am not sure they had enough staff present. We bought wine and ended up pouring it ourselves. The bread arrived during the meal versus prior to which is what we asked for. Probably won't go back.
Terrible service , waited 30 minutes for drinks & 90 minutes for dinner
Excellent food and service, but too noisy when it got crowded.
Tavern offers a sunny spot to dress casually but still enjoy a civilized meal without an unbearable noise level or attitude from wait staff so often found in L.A. restaurants now. From the easy parking to not having to wait to be seated, Tavern is at the top of my list for future meals.
I would recommend this restaurant for drinks only. Food and service were below par for the price.
My favorite breakfast and lunch meeting spot in Brentwood. Delicious and creative food along with stunning atrium seating makes for a relaxing setting. I usually get the avocado toast for breakfast and the Tavern Trio for lunch. The trio is three items from a 6-7 item list of salad and vegetable combinations. Examples are curried cauliflower, green harissa chicken salad, and farro with vegetables and cranberries.
There are not enough vegetarian entres; please consider increasing these.
I really love the Tavern. Jason (the bartender) was exceptional. The turkey burger is a must. We really enjoyed it. Having said that, the menu options are just a little overblown. A more simplistic approach might be warranted or simply more options.
Other than that, the bakery is a MUST. The Tavern is only steps away from being great. It's beautiful and the staff is one of the best.
I just hosted a baby shower brunch at Tavern and it was wonderful! The service was friendly, helpful, and perfect. We had a beautiful table set for us and the staff was helpful and accomodating at every turn. And then there was the food. WOW! Omg everything was so delicious. I definitely recommend this spot for your next dining experience, whether it's for a group event, a casual brunch, or a date night. I can't wait to come back again.
Beautiful dining area, excellent menu and food and perfect service. First time there and will return.
Devils chicken= no bueño
Great food and wonderful setting too. The waitstaff could be a little more on top of things - but they are really busy on sunday mornings. One thing that was disappointing - for some reason, no oatmeal on weekends anymore. That means that those who aren't eating eggs or meat are limited to bread items - or granola??? They should bring it back since it's so easy.
Place is looking worn..carpet thrashed..stains on ceiling..service mediocre at best..had to beg for a coffee refill!
Our server was inattentive and got one of the orders wrong.
Outstanding as always! Great atmosphere and vibes --
Server was awful! He threw the menus on the table and then walked away! Food was good, but not worth the terrible service experience!
My reservation was for 1:15pm on Sunday and my party was finally sat around 1:35pm. When we entered the restaurant there was a bunch of commotion at the hostess deck because an older woman couldn't get her elderly mother into the restaurant. She was yelling at the hostess, so I politely stood to the side of the hostess deck and in the meantime someone else entered the restaurant and approached the hostess desk, and when the commotion subsided the hostess checked her in first and I was then told that they would be seated before my party because they checked in before us (even though I was standing there first). Once we finally sat down, the service and food were sub par. My sister found a short piece of black hair on her sweet potato chips and said her Pilgrim sandwich was tasteless.
I normally enjoy Tavern, but my family and I were not impressed this time.
My daughter, a friend of hers and I went to Tavern for brunch on Sunday morning. It was very busy. The food was all quite good and portions were large. We had the shakshouka, lemon ricotta pancakes, and eggs benedict as well as some sides. Everything was tasty and we had to work to finish most of it. We were not in a hurry at all, so the pace was good for us that day although I would characterize as a little slow. I would definitely return here for brunch.
A charming and relaxed place, especially the bar area. Food and service excellent. A bit over-priced, but that seems to be the trend in nice upscale Westside restaurants. The wine is especially expensive for what you get. I would definitely go back, although not frequently.
Great Brunch, wonderful food, always consistent, lovely place, very comfortable seating
My only complaint not enough service help they seemed overwhelmed with a full Saturday Brunch crowd
Amazing but not gluten-free friendly on the Brunch menu.
Very good place to eat. Expensive, but standard stuff for good quality dining in Santa Monica/Brentwood.
Tavern never disappoints. Okay who knew there was a massive off menu burger? Now we know. I’m headed back to try it in addition to the addictive Spanish Fried Chicken.
Drop what you’re doing and go now.
Anyone would be impressed sitting in the bright spacious main room. The Tavern has 3- large sized spaces to choose from. The bar room is perfect for catching a game and relaxing with your buds. The brunch food we had was first-rate, though it was a long wait. They add an optional surcharge to your bill to cover health care for their employees which I thought was great. Overall an excellent experience and great place for a family get together or to impress a date.
Had a great meal—Olivia our server was exceptional as was the avocado on toast!! Was slightly noisy but that did not take away from the meal. Will definitely be back!
Great service but the food didn't live up to the cost.
Very surprised at the extremely slow service (nearly 3 hrs for 1 shared appetizer and 2 entrees, 2 people) despite dining late and almost half the tables having finished/empty. The server was nice enough but there was absolutely no follow through. No explanation or update, just "it's coming up soon" immediately before our food came out. This would have been forgiveable except all the food was extremely bland and not salted at all. I have to limit my salt for health reasons and even I, who am used to little to no salt, thought everything was flavorless. The setting is loud but it is a beautiful venue. Surprised and disappointed overall.
I had much higher expectations going into this dinner, given the pedigree of those involved. This restaurant was recommended by food industry colleagues so I trusted them. The food was un-memorable. Middling at best.
We also were seated in an open space completely disconnected from the dining room - left to the company of an Emergency Exit door. Until we brought it up and requested to be moved, the staff was fine with this. Also shocking given the pedigree of those involved with the restaurant. While that was righted, it would not have been had we not spoken up, which is the thing to take into consideration. The waiter genuinely asked how our meal was; we were honest: the food was mediocre. While our swordfish was comped and the GM was apologetic, it really was the whole of the experience that left us with a lackluster and surprisingly mauvaise taste in our mouths.
I do hope things improve.
Great with the exception of waiting to long to be served
The server we had was fantastic. Friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, never too busy to help never too pushy or interruptive. The issue is: too many table that are too close together. The rectangular shape on the center row 2tops was such that I was twice as close to the loud talker next to me than to my wife sitting across from me. They need more SPACE between the tables.
Good for a special occasion! My wife and two friends ate dinner the other night. We all shared plates, sat in the atrium area. Somewhat of an interesting vibe, didn't understand the drastic shift between the bar furniture and fixtures and decor to the formal dining room, but it was a neat room.
Service was on point with our needs and requests. Flavors were amazing on everything we had, portions were not so much. Although there were sections on the menu for small, medium, and large plates, they didn't necessarily correspond to what we got. Salads were in the small section but we got a nice portion to split. The sword fish was in the medium section and we got 2 tiny skewers. The one large plate was the short ribs, but it was $44.
Overall I would go back, but probably on a special occasion rather than a normal occurrence.
good food good service . casual ambiance. love it!
Great food. Good service. Beautiful setting.
