Tastes of Greece Ratings and Reviews
We love this place and have been here many many times. Last Saturday evening we dined here with friends and had a truly awesome meal. The spicy feta with pita bread is to die for. The octopus is cooked to perfection as is the stuffed chicken with spinach .
Everything is well-made and very authentic you will not be disappointed if you have a dinner here
We were very happy with our meal. My husband got the vegan combination plate, which included vegetarian dolmas, falafel, fresh peas, rice and hummus. All were *fantastic* with unique flavor profiles; the dolmas, for example, were sweet (perhaps lentils and prunes?), and the peas were perfectly cooked and spiced. I had grilled calamari (which was high quality and well cooked, but not a dish I would get again), served with balsamic grilled vegetables (excellent), and tzatziki (also great). The included greek salads were fresh and well seasoned. Like others, we found the service a bit slow, but left wishing we had had longer to linger rather than that the service had been quicker.
We were also impressed with the homey interior. The owners did a wonderful job creating a space that feels nothing like a strip mall restaurant. The decor was cute & creative.
We'll be back!
Authentic Greek menu and excellent preparation. Service was excellent on a quiet weekday evening. This is a place to go to for Greek dishes, done well. Don't be put off by the location in strip mall on CV Parkway. The restaurant is pleasant and cheerful.
Over the past few weeks we have introduced 12 of our friends and business associates to Tastes of Greece. Each time we went, my wife and I have tried something different. There wasn't a single dish we didn't like, and every person we brought LOVED this restaurant. All said they couldn't wait to come back. This is a delightful place and a must try!!!
Another wonderful night at Tastes of Greece. We brought a couple new to this restaurant and they LOVED it. He had a terrific spinach-stuffed lemon chicken, she and my wife had the fish that they enjoyed, although my wife thought the fish had too many bones. I had the special pork roast that was wonderful. Make sure you save room for great Greek desserts!!!
Wow I had such high hopes for this local restaurant. I had stopped in during the day and was pleasantly surprised how cute it looked when you step inside (it is in a strip mall location next to Taco Bell and a Quick Mart). I love Greek food (My best friend is Greek and her food is AMAZING!) I made a reservation and I did note that it was my birthday. We got there and had to wait but just a few minutes. We got seated and I have some food allergies but I can eat meat and rice. We ordered the lemon soup, so tasteless. I ordered a dish and specifically said no dairy or red onions.....just rice and meat. He brought out my dish and there was big red onions and dairy on the meat. Sent it back......and waited.......and waited.....waited.....husband is almost done with his meal and finally it came. Rice and meat! Yay. Wow the rice and the meat was tasteless. I ate half and boxed the rest and we asked for Baklava and their specialty Greek coffee. They where out of Baklava.....we cancelled the coffee and went home. We won't be back.
Group of six for a wonderful Greek dinner. Only problem was one couple was sharing their roast lamb dish which they found very salty and returned it. (My wife had the same dish last week and loved it). They asked for the lamb chops, instead, and loved them. They were served with the new dish in 7 minutes. Great desserts! Make sure you save room for one.
Having read previous reviews on Open Table, we were prepared for slow service. We were seated quickly, our drink orders were taken and served promptly as were our appetizers. I had a delicious saganaki, but because of allergies, my wife had another dish which was excellent. We did have a rather long wait for our entrees, but my lamb chops were worth the wait as was my wife's roast lamb. The baklava desert was served with a berry compote and yogurt and was fabulous. My wife needed convincing to have desert but finally ordered profiteroles covered in chocolate. After the first taste she wouldn't give me any, and said that the next time we come to Tastes of Greece, she would have that as the appetizer (she finally let me taste it). Excellent meal!
Food is terrific. Service typically on point, however not at all tonight. We are there twice this week alone.Same server. Excellent service early in the week and left more than a 30% tip. Non existent service from the same server tonight. Main course delivered before we received our appetizer and less than halfway through our salad. Appetizer delivered when main course was half eaten, without apology or making up for it in any way. We didn't eat any of it. Ordered the lamb shank only because it is accompanied by a fantastic orzo pasta. Never mentioned they were out of it early on a Saturday evening until the dish was brought to our table. Tonight it was served with potatoes and I wouldn't have ever ordered it that way. We will return, however we will request a table no where near the bathroom door which doesn't close on its own, and provides a gross view of the toilet if you sit at certain tables when anyone doesn't know to close it after use. Waited FOREVER to get our check after asking two employees three times. The food is excellent enough for a return visit, however if the poor service becomes the norm we will spend our money elsewhere.
This place doesn't look like much since it's in a tiny strip mall with a Taco Bell and Subway, but it's the best Greek food in South OC. They are obviously doing something right because the restaurant doubled in size since our last visit. Definitely worth it.
I don't have enough words to describe how amazing this place is! The food was out of this world- we were so full but couldn't stop eating. We had the meze platter as an appetizer along with Alicen's Spicy Cheese Melt and I loved every single bite! My husband and I both agreed that every time we go there, those two items are completely necessary to order. Then, we shared the Moussaka and the Pot Pie at the suggestion of our server, who was a young girl from Greece, so we gladly accepted her recommendations and she nailed it! They were both delicious. We just discovered this place at the recommendation of my parents and I'm actually sad we didn't know about it prior. The owners were also very attentive and very nice, both stopping over to check if we were enjoying our meal. We can't wait to go back!
We love this place and have been coming here for years. It's small and VERY Greek. The owners are there every evening and are so welcoming. The chef(one of the owners) will visit your table and welcome you and ask your opinion of the food
The food is delicious and the spicey Feta will blow your mind. The prices are reasonable and corkage is an unheard of $11.00.
This place is definitely a hidden gem in Laguna Niguel. The second you walk in you are transported OUT of Orange County and into a magical little Greek restaurant. Ordered the spinach puffs in filo and they were delish! For main meal we ordered the grilled calamari and shrimp in tomato sauce. YUM! Dessert was heaven - honey pastry with the silkiest vanilla ice cream you have ever had. The owners are so nice. Do they have any idea how awesome their little restaurant is? Only negative was that service was a little slow but we received a free little appetizer so that cancels that out. When you come RELAX and ENJOY!
We've been going to Tastes of Greece virtually since it opened and it continues to provide a fantastic, authentic dining experience. This is the third time we've brought friends from out of town, and once again the overall experience was met with a resounding thank you--and importantly, a request to return. The pleasant, unrushed experience in an atmosphere that makes lengthy conversations easy is rare these days. Matched with superb food from the kitchen, it's hard to find any fault with this outstanding neighborhood venue.
