One of the pioneers trying to bring back OTR. Decent Belgian fare, excellent beers. Kitchen and service was slow, but friendly. Gave us waffles to go as compensation.
We went to Cincinnati for the weekend and saw this restaurant on Food Network, it met the hype. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
We went to Taste of Belgium for dinner. The restaurant was busy but not overly crowded, however, our server still checked on our table minimally and did not even offer to refill waters/non-alcoholic beverages. Additionally, I was sadly disappointed in the Pig & Fig crepe that I ordered. I was expecting a decent amount of the ingredients listed on the menu, instead I got a tough crepe with so much Fig Jam, two tiny pieces of Brie cheese, and two minuscule pieces of Prosciutto. I couldn't get half way through it because it was too sweet. My precaution would be don't order a crepe expecting a substantial dinner .
heard about this restaurant thru Diners Drive in and dive . always wanted to try it.
Was in town visiting my daughter and we drove from Dayton to try it. So happy we did.
Would go back for sure.
Would recommend to everyone a great place for waffles and chicken and waffles and turkey. Desserts are amazing.
We stopped in our way through Cincinnati after seeing the restaurant featured in Food Network. Everything we experienced was worth the trip. We will definitely be back. And the wait staff is great!
I thought this restaurant was pretty good. I went here with my boyfriend for our three year anniversary because we have never been. I would say it is ok for a special date, but next time I might go for something a little more fancy. The food was good and very unique, but I would have liked too see a little bit more variety. It was a good experience and I might come back for something more casual.
We enjoyed our lunch at Taste of Belgium. The amount of selection and the quality of the food definitely make it a great place for Lunch.
Food was superb and drink list was exceptional. Service was attentive and was not overwhelmingly loud for conversation with group- A great place for a friend gathering!
Excellent food choices and the beer is amazing. I'm not a big beer drinker but the servers helped me find one that suited my taste. It was delicious. I had the tuna sandwich after recommendation once again from my server. He did not steer me wrong. Great lunch choice.
The new Galettes are amazing! The Baja is my favorite but my friend loved the mushroom.
Consistently great spot to gather with friends for good food and service. Usually crowded with a wait so thrilled that reservations can be made online.
Our hostess had a very VERY bad attitude. Appetizer came out 5 mins after entre
Great food. Nice location. Reasonably priced. Super service. One of OTR's best!
We had tasty dinners with a nice waiter, good wine, and the price was amazingly low! This was a much better experience than the last time I had dinner there, maybe 9 months ago. A pleasant surprise!
Date night with my hubby. Dinner before going to the Aronoff. Luke was our waiter and we couldn't have asked for better service! We had the beer cheese and pretzels as an appetizer, outrageously delicious! I want to go back and just eat some more of those! Hubby had the chicken and waffles, very good and a generous serving. I ate the shrimp and grits. A little spicy but oh so delicious! We will definitely be back for more!
I was very disappointed with our visit. First, we wanted to go for dessert and I told the hostess this...she said, well I can seat you and the waiter can help you with that. OK, great...I thought! So, she gave us menus and said nothing else. Then I told the waiter we were there for dessert and that I wanted something chocolate. I mentioned that there was only one dessert listed on the menu and that I only saw one thing on the menu that was chocolate, or the chocolate waffle. He agreed and said that the chocolate torte was made by them...I mentioned that I felt compelled to try the waffles, but he steered me towards the Chocolate Torte. I was fine with that, but a little disappointed at the selection. The place had about 15-20 people in the whole restaurant.
We waited for over 10 minutes for the slice of cake to come out (which he did apologize about). The cake was good, not great. We ate most of it and were leaving when I spotted this couple at the bar eating what looked like a cupcake and a chocolate cream puff?? Confused, I peered into the other room where I saw this case of desserts???? I walked over and there were about 15 different types of pastry, cookies....DESSERTS, in this case. Someone walked over, and I said...are these the Taste of Belgium's? She said, yes..."you make them?!" I asked...and she replied that they made them in their Findlay Market location. I obviously looked confused, and she asked if she could get me one. I then explained what had happened and she said that she understood/agreed it was a little odd....almost like they design it that way. I have no idea why they would do this...it's not even like it was crowded and we got overlooked because it was busy! There was only one other table being used in the bar area, where they sat us. I know that people seem to love this place, so I guess we will give it another shot...but based on this experience I am not hopeful for this becoming a place we can recommend to others! :(
Loved it. Food is great !!!
If it's nice enough to sit outside the people watching is pretty good. The trolley comes by this corner too so it's fun to watch as well.
Fantastic food, service and surroundings. Close to Ensemble Theater and great before the show!
It's OK if you want chicken and waffles, but otherwise the menu is very limited. Our server was very unengaged, it felt like he would have much preferred to be doing something else.
I am not thrilled with the new menu. No more pasta Bolognese, no more mussels in white wine, both my favorites. Disappointing.
This is a wonderful place to eat. The service was wonderful, their desserts are amazing, especially the Blonde Brownie!! Quick service, we made a reservation but didn't really need to, it wasn't too busy. The atmosphere is very conducive for conversation and visiting. Definitely will go again! We were at the Downtown location. My next try will be Rookwood.
Great location for pre-Ensemble Theater dining. The food is quite good, with unusual flavor and texture combinations., and the prices are quite reasonable. Also just a nice place to go for lunch in the OTR district. A local gem.
GREAT PLACE, GOOD FOOD, NICE ATMOSPHERE. Thank you.
Great food. Great service. Would recommend to anyone.
We got in right away with the open table app! The best food. Ever.
I'm still dreaming about the chicken and waffles! My husband and I got there a little early and were seated right away in the quieter dining area around back (perfect for when the parents of two lively toddlers get a date night). Very friendly and helpful service and a lovely atmosphere.
We stopped by for some late eats. They were unable to seat us in the main dining area and took us around the side to the private dining space. I didn't care for it back there. Felt disconnected. Food and beers were fantastic as always.
Went with my husband and 7 year old son, since we were in town from Columbus for the weekend. I read online that it was family friendly. Although we certainly did not feel unwelcome, they do not have a kids menu and given the prices an adult mean isn't worth it for a child. So I wouldn't take him again. My husband loved his chicken and waffles. I had a nibble and it was delicious. Unfortunately my medium rare steak was charred. I didn't complain but our server noticed and had it taken off the bill. We had a poutine appetizer that was tasty. I would try this place again for an adult night out. Service was great. We were sat in the private dining area separate from the main restaurant, which made it quiet, intimate and cozy.
Over priced, it's good food, not great. Overall it's a pretty good place. TAKES RESERVATIONS which is huge down in OTR
Waffles and chicken were over cooked. 4 of us ordered the same thing - every order was overdone.
This was my second time here and the food was amazing again!!! Coffee was delicious and the cozy feel of the restaurant is really nice. Had an awesome window seat to ourselves which was nice. I am from columbus and we have a smaller version of taste of Belgium there and it is awesome too. I would definitely recommend to anyone!
Friendly staff, fast service and great food.
Really nice waiter, made good suggestions for what to order.
The private dining room is great for parties of close friends! The wait staff were focused only on a few private customers and the quality of service was fantastic! Knowledgeable, fun, courteous waiters made my birthday dinner so great!
Burgers were excellent! Chicken was great too. Good service.
First trip and last. Chicken was cold, the mussels were awful, tasted like salt water. Won't be back.
We arrived early for our reservation on a Saturday night, but after waiting 20 minutes past the time of the reservation with no table ready, decided to sit at the bar for dinner. Our meal was served quickly, but was definitely not worth the overall crowded wait time. I got the chicken and waffles, the restaurant's specialty, and my waffle was served cold. That combined with its density made it something I chose not to eat. It's too bad, because I had looked forward to trying this restaurant for a while.
The restaurant was cute and lively, but if I try it again I'll get something else.
