This was my first visit to Tasca Brava. It was a very quiet Monday night so we received special attention from the chef/owner. He is very knowledgeable about Spanish food and takes great pride in the authenticity of the dishes on the menu. We enjoyed a nice Rose and several tapas selections including special roasted peppers, cassava bread was just like what I had in the Galapagos, a lovely cheese/charcuterie plate, and a shrimp dish. The fig crème brulee and apple desserts were the perfect ending. Definitely worth a visit!

We were very pleased with our experience at Tasca Brava 607. Although the service was a bit slow, we attributed that to the nature of the food; we did not expect a fast dining experience. The food was delicious and quite authentic. Highly recommend Tasca Brava; we will be back for the paella as we did not have room for it on this visit!

Best dining experience we have ever had in Raleigh. Juan provided outstanding hospitality and is clearly passionate about quality and authentic Spanish food. His love for what he is doing comes through in the food and the experience. If you are looking for fried southern food, sweet tea and Bud this is not the place for you. But if you want to be transported to España for dinner and Spanish wines then leave your bags at home and just dine here - no TSA or jet lag. Added bonus - free on site parking in the rear. We will be back!!!

This restaurant is great for a date or special occasion. The service is excellent. The chef personally came to our table to explain the menu and specials and to talk with us about his love of Spanish cuisine. The food was delicious and authentic and the atmosphere lends itself for a quiet, romantic evening. Will definitely return!

The owner provided an in depth understanding of the food culture and preparation. The fresh made cheese bread and fig with goat cheese and balsamic reduction was divine. The squid ink seafood paella for two was beautifully presented and delicious. The tender seafood and crispy rice on the bottom made this a truly authentic dish. The house roasted coffee was great. I will go back and try each dish.

We went to Tasca Brava 607 for my birthday. It was very enjoyable. The owner greeted us and seated us and took our order explaining first all the delicious entrees and tapas they had on the menu. All sounded wonderful and what we ordered did not disappoint us. We had enough food with the paella vallenciana for four people

Another outstanding visit to Tasca Brava 607. This was the third time dining there, and where my wife and I have celebrated our last two anniversaries. If you are looking for a dining adventure in Spain, and a slow placed evening of delectable Spanish food, this is the place. Wonderful tapas, entrées, and desserts. Juan is most engaging, and loves to give detailed explanations of offerings to his guests. Looking forward to our next visit to Tasca Brava 607.

The place was ok , looks clean , But the chef who is the owner is a mess, he's very opinionated, very bossy , he wanted to us order the food he thought it was the best option , he made feel my fiancé bad with his comments about the food he likes and he doesn't. The owner is a very rude person , the food was ok , but pricely. I think this place has a good possibilities if the owner changes his attitude.

If you love Catalan Food / Spanish (from Spain) this place is amazing. It is truly a gem, besides the food the owner is the best part of this place. If you just see it from the outside don't be deterred go in and you will love everything about this restaurant. I've tried several dishes here and everything was fantastic. The food is truly authentic, it is a restaurant that should be tried and experienced. I do not live in Raleigh but whenever I visited this is one restaurant that I kept going back to, if you are a Raleigh resident you have to go to this restaurant it is a must place for authentic Spanish Food (from Spain).

My friends were a bit overwhelmed by the choices, and we got a bit of help but didn't realize how much paella would be put in front of us. Because of our inability to guess correct portions, our bill was very steep, and because I was travelling I could not take leftovers.

If you have ever been to Spain, or if you've simply sought the Spanish experience, this is as close as you can get without leaving the comfort of Raleigh. It feels as if the owner, Juan, has invited you to his home to cook for you and yours. If you're looking for a true foodie experience, join him for an evening and ask him for recommendations. He's a wealth of information and can pair the perfect food and wine combination for any occasion. Every dish is immaculately presented and delivered to your table as it's cooked, so you should expect a meal that's not in a big hurry. The fact that the restaurant has a warm and cozy ambiance means that the wait won't bother you at all. To call the food wonderful would be to do it a disservice. Balsamic soaked figs, fresh paella, and octopus with goat cheese mashed potatoes .... It feels like you're dining on the streets of España! If you are in a rush, dine elsewhere, but if you can sit and enjoy the full dining experience while chatting with an owner who absolutely LOVES to tell you stories about his life and food, then look no further. His passion for food and drink shines through in every dish, from the warm, gooey pan de queso (it will melt your heart!) right through to the peanut-flavored crema catalana or one of his homemade croquettes, I promise you won't regret it.

This restaurant and the menu are the creation of the proprietor, A Spaniard who knows the food, its history and traditions, and works to reproduce them here in Raleigh. We especially enjoyed a soup special, the name of which I forget, but it was a cold sweet red pepper and a hot cream of carrot served side by side in the same bowl.

We loved the food, but felt rushed and forced into suggestions. This was valentine's day weekend, mind you, so service was expected to be rushed. The price was also marked up considerably. The waitress also gave us $8 bottled water, without asking (she only asked sparkling or still). Now I know to request tap water. We also had to send the bill back 3 times because they kept confusing it with other people's.

My wife and I celebrated our 6 year anniversary with Tasca Brava. I'm writing this post as a warning to please avoid this restaurant. The service was terrible, our waiter (the owner I later found out) was rude, and after waiting 30 min for water he said things are slow because that's how things are done in Spain. When we decided to get our check after appetizers and wine without ordering dinner. He then charged me $5 more for the bottle of wine we had, explaining that the price is increased from what was on the menu because the cost of the Euro went up... He then told me he would change it because "You're cheap!" Never going back and I recommend the same to anyone else.

Wonderful atmosphere and food was great. Chef seemed very nice initially but then rushed us to order and seemed irritated when we didn't order fast enough. Did not give us the prices for the specials and served us a $6 bottle of WATER we did not ask for. We didn't know there was a price until the bill came. Also overcharged us for something we didn't order and when we explained it, he got angry again and took 20 minutes to fix the check. Then after giving us a new total, he still ran my card for more than he should have. Good food but won't be going back.

We thoroughly enjoyed the food and wine. Service started out great, but on Friday of Valentines day they were quickly overwhelmed. Would be much better on a quiet night. We'll go back, but on a weeknight. Pretty $$ for Tapas, but can't complain about the quality or taste. About $120 for 2 of us with a mid-range bottle of wine ($48), 5 Tapas and an order of bread.

We arrived at 8pm for our 8pm reservation, booked on opentable.com. When we walked in the female server asked us how many and when we told her 4 for an 8pm reservation, she looked around the restaurant and said "i have a table over there that needs to be cleaned up, you can have a seat at the bar". So we went to the back room with a bar though no one was working back there. Several times the female server came behind the bar to get drinks for her tables but never asked if we wanted anything. Then a male, possible owner, possibly chef? came behind the bar and asked how many were in our party. When we said we have an 8pm reservation for 4, he responded with "well you can see we are slammed and doing the best we can". I don't believe we gave him any reason to be defensive. We waited for roughly 15 minutes and then decided to leave since we were worried the service would match the initial lack of hospitality we received. As we were walking out the female server asked if we wanted a drink while we wait to which we replied " no thanks, we are leaving". Her lack of response confirmed that we made the right decision. I'm sure the food is great and the restaurant is lovely, we were sad to not be able to experience that. At some point we may consider trying again.
