Great waiter, I arrived late so I didn’t get his name. The setup outside is perfect. They could probably use more tables. Food was really good: fish and chips,
Caesar salad, clam chowder, and somebody had a steak.
Support your local restaurants!!!
Terrible service and terrible food it’s was not what was expected as we had been there 3-4 times before they sat us at a table knowing that our waiter was on a break. How can anyone manage a restaurant like that
I've been to taps and the catch for a few years now... we haven't been back since covid understandably. We made reservations in advance for 4. We were greated warmly and seated immediately. The patio was well spaced and maintained social distancing appropriately which was great. However, there weren't sufficient enough umbrellas on the patio to shade everyone, and during this time, only being able to sit outdoors they should plan accordingly. It made the first half of dinner sweaty and uncomfortable. After the sun set the ambiance was great. When we were placing our drink orders, they were out of quite a bit which was disappointing but understandable. The reason for the rating though is the food seemed to have really gone down in efficiency and flavor. We waited quite some time for every part of our order. And we even placed it all when we ordered our appetizers. With only a quarter of the restaurant open and so many staff members and "managers" you would think the service would still be excellent. Disappointing.
Took my daughter to Taps for her birthday. Great outdoor setting. Server Marcus was attentive and had excellent recommendations. Shawna was very very friendly and pleasant.
Great for a date.
Our waiter, Drew was exceptional. The whole night was great.
Food has always been good. Hard to get a same day reservation with limited outside seating. Smaller portions at lunch time with good craft beer selections. Mid-day sun can be annoying but overall nice experience.
To start, They were out of certain beer and wine :(
I had the salmon - it wasn’t great. Food temperature was luke warm, as if it had been sitting for a while. Same with my friend’s lobster roll - not great and luke warm.
Food quality seems to have declined here. Not sure I’ll be returning any time soon.
Party of 5 we all had different kinds of Seafood. Everyone's food was good. Only complaint is that it is overpriced for what you get. I ordered Chilean Sea Bass. very small piece of fish and price was $42.
Great food. Seated outside to social distance. Very nice set up. Will dine outdoors again at taps.
Great food and service as always. Christian was by far one of the best and most accommodating servers ever! They give a great experience in the midst of COVID.
A new experience for outdoor dinning was very nice
Excellent service and good food and drinks
Make sure you server is n the ball and communicates if meal it taking longer than expected.
Everything was excellent. Though they said they didn't have our reservation in their computer they sat us in 15 minutes. Not sure what happened there....
The two of us had great service initially then a large party came in. We were way too close to them in these Covid-times (should have been more segregation of tables) and they were all wondering around. Once the large party showed up we were basically ignored. Had to ask for a 2nd drink and dirty plates were not picked up. Being outside the flies were flocking to our dirty dishes. And yes the dishes were stacked and pushed to the edge of the table for pick up. Great food but service and Covid set up sucked.
Great happy hour..... really enjoyed being outside on their patio.
The outdoor dining is super nice and is distanced perfectly according to the COVID rules. I highly recommend TAPS on any afternoon.
The patio is very nice, and we enjoyed eating a Birthday dinner outside on a beautiful evening. The crab stuffed shrimp and the "drunken mahi mahi" were delicious (as usual!) Our waiter took excellent care of us. We enjoyed some craft beer. We also appreciated the decorated creme brulee that was gifted us for dessert.
Food was average. Server disappeared and did not come back for 45 minutes. Spanish octopus good blue cheese wedge salad bad. Stuffed shrimp bland sea bass good but spectacular when compared to Nicks or kings fish house or even pf chang
Service was slow. Fish was excellent. Beef was not richly marbled n lacked any flavor. Salad was minuscule. Bread only came when we asked for it
Covid care. All wore masks. Noticed staff wiped down tables n seAts of chairs but did nothing when clean the backs of chairs where every person grabs the chair to pull out or be seated. This is the most touch next to the tables. Noticed they did not wipe down salt shakers either
Great atmosphere inside and out but quality of patron furniture does not match interior quality
I have been a fan of TAPS monumental Sunday brunch, so I was curious to see how they would handle a sit-down breakfast, which I believe is now daily. They did not disappoint! My friend (a big breakfast fan) and I were seated at a nice corner table in the shade of the patio by the manager. Felt safe, clean and respectful--all staff were masked and super-hospitable.
Don't see much of anything complimentary anymore, so TAPS is an exception here. We were served a decadent sweet potato monkey bread (sort of like cinnamon rolls with glaze) in a cast-iron pan while we were perusing the menu. Delicious and not overly sweet--hot from the oven. Then...with the entrees we were eligible for a TAPS Bloody Mary and Mimosa for a penny. Who does that? From brunch, I knew how good the Bloody Mary is which is served with a Cream Ale chaser--obviously TAPS is known for their beers.
We ordered the chicken with waffles and the Loco Moco. The chicken and waffles had a beautiful presentation--waffles were fluffy and flavorful with cinnamon and vanilla. The chicken was boneless thighs fried in a buttermilk-cornmeal batter and easy to eat. Loved the extra touch of honey and spice to the maple syrup. Loco Moco was the best we ever had--quality TAPS burger patty with a nice touch of sushi rice underneath it. Eggs cooked perfectly and a savory peppercorn gravy with a kimchi garnish. Every bite had exciting flavors.
Love TAPS French press coffee. Nice way to end breakfast. Have already recommended it to friends and family. Creative breakfast menu of classics reinterpreted with contemporary touches.
Food was fine. We got seated next to the kitchen/bar area, and there was lots of noise from the employees. It seems we got seated in a busy area for the employees when the restaurant had lots of seatings open.
Cute restaurant, tried it due to Oc restaurant week. Wasn’t busy but service took 25 mins for drinks: 2 waters and a coke, then another 5 minutes for a straw. Clam chowder was very good but lobster bisque didn’t even have pieces of lobster. Entrees were ok and crime bru le and cheesecake good. At the end of the meal is when we started having people check on us, even though I saw the busy boys and waiters spending a lot of the time standing around before. Frequently I would see 3-5 workers hanging out at host area.
At the end of the meal the receipt listed total of $95 and change but then our credit card was rung up for $105 and change. I brought it up to the attention of the host when leaving.
With the poor service and slip in of an extra 10 bucks padding the bill I doubt we will be back.
Really disappointed in the food and service. Spend a lot of money on dinner for seven. No one liked their food except for the steak order. Will not return.
We were celebrating our 44th Anniversary, and had made an Open Table Reservation. We were welcomed at the door by hostesses and the (female) Maitre'D. We were gifted glasses of champagne and given a choice of tables. We ordered lobster dumplings as our appetizer, "drunken" mahimahi with a shrimp enchilada, and another split of Chandon. Our Waitress and the rest of the Wait Team were VERY attentive, and were eager to discuss our ordered items--I'm a Registered Dietitian, and was interested. We were also gifted a Crème Brulee for our special occasion. I can't imagine how the evening could have been better.
In addition, our Waitress' Husband and Daughter happened to be dining at Taps and sitting near us that night. We shared a very pleasant conversation during this "Over the top" evening. It felt like dining in the Suite restaurant on our last (Celebrity) Cruise. Thank you!!
Service was extremely slow that day. There was a big wait between appetizers and lunch. Then another big wait for our desserts. It ended up being a two and a half hour lunch.
Everything was amazing from start to finish. Every food choice we made with the help of our amazing waiter was excellent. We’ll definitely be going back.
We had an excellent time with our customers. Food was fantastic - halibut was perfectly prepared (came highly recommended) and the salmon over grilled brussel sprouts and fingerling potatoes was excellent as well. Would highly recommend.
I'm wondering if there was a change in management since there is a new menu. We were coming here for the previous menu which was much better! Our waiter was inexperienced. My husband ordered a 12 oz glass of wine. Her brought 6 oz. When he brought the other 6 oz, he neglected to refill the glass! I had to ask for bread which came after the appetizer. There was a huge lag between the appetizer and entrees.
The wild black bass was a tiny portion. The fish entrees are way overpriced for the food and service. Prices more inline with French cuisine. The complimentary dessert was nice as we were celebration our anniversary.
Great place for breakfast!!
Very good food. Great service. Very nice setting. Great for lunch.
Has gone down hill. Halibut was overcooked and dry. The rest was not memorable. Likely will delete this from our list of places to regularly visit.
Food and ambience was good, but it took nearly 3 hours from the time we walked in to getting the check. Food came VERY slowly. Our server was generally good/friendly, but only apologized for the delayed drinks delivery - no recognition of the extended food waiting time.
I wouldn’t usually complain, except that we have noticed this a number of times since several management changes have occurred in recent months. Seems as if the kitchen is often “backed up” every though the restaurant doesn’t seem busy.
Hope TAPS solves this soon, or else we won’t return for what is usually good food and friendly service.
Wonderful service. A little loud but it was peak lunch time. Good food. Always great to share a meal with coworkers or friends or family. Thank you!
Delicious food and excellent service. Folks were getting a head start on their holiday gatherings, which contributed to the noise level and tight quarters -- the latter requiring extra careful steps while navigating from the buffet to the table with a full plate. Looking forward to returning!
I love TAPS Fish House & Brewery-Irvine Marketplace, servers are so friendly.
Food is great and service is awesome. Awesome family or friends gathering place.
Food and service were really good. We just like going to Taps! It’s becoming one of our favorite places to go.
Great service. The wait staff were attentive and got everything right.
Celebrating my birthday! Service was good; Nice wine and halibut. The waitress said it used to say wild-caught on the menu, but now it doesn't. She did say it was wild caught. Nice complimentary dessert.
It was our first time to TAPS - not disclosed in the reservation- but the server took the initiative to ask. He was very informative when asked menu item question on the fish and an appropriate sauce for it, he was attentive and gifted us a baked chocolate suffle for dessert since it was our first time. We had originally come for what we thought was industry night(later finding out some locations do and do not- this location does not - Incase you too are looking) but we decided to stay and give it a try. We were pleased with the beet salad, clam chowder and main entree of fish, mashed potatoes and asparagus. Calamari would not be recommended. The best part was the server, food runner and hostess! They were all genuinely wonderful! Thank you !
