Opened in June 1922, The Tam O'Shanter boasts a rich, storied history and warm, inviting atmosphere. We’re proud to be in our 10th decade of continuous service. We originally considered it a quiet pastoral road stop, since Los Feliz Boulevard was just an unpaved country lane traversed by rabbits and rabbit hunters, in that order.
Everything changed when Walt Disney and his animators, set designers, and crews began trekking out between takes for a bite and a refreshment. So often, in fact, that the Tam was once dubbed “The Studio Commissary.”

                                  The Tam has been in LA legend for decades, but our experience for my 75th birthday showed that they’ve been coasting on their reputation for a while. The prime rib, arguably the reason we came, was passable but I’ve had better at much cheaper restaurants. The French onion soup was absolutely horrid and should not ever be offered. On the other hand, the burnt ends appetizer and a salad is all we would really need if we came back. The desserts were underwhelming, and our server tried to upsell us on drinks several times which we did not appreciate. I will come back and give it another try, but my friends have also been saying the same thing about this venerable restaurant lately. The Tam needs to try hard harder.

                                  1st issue was not being able to leave a message on their phone that are party had been reduced from 5 to 4. We’ve been dining at Tam for 45 years, now very disappointed in the menu offerings for brunch, no real brunch items. We should have checked the menu but really thought there would be items like chicken crepes as in the past. Very small Caesar salad for the price… lettuce is “cheap”! Bartender could make neither a Ramos Gin Fizz or a Bellini and prices seemed too expensive. We may go back for pub food, but not for brunch.
