Opened in June 1922, The Tam O'Shanter boasts a rich, storied history and warm, inviting atmosphere. We’re proud to be in our 10th decade of continuous service. We originally considered it a quiet pastoral road stop, since Los Feliz Boulevard was just an unpaved country lane traversed by rabbits and rabbit hunters, in that order.
Everything changed when Walt Disney and his animators, set designers, and crews began trekking out between takes for a bite and a refreshment. So often, in fact, that the Tam was once dubbed “The Studio Commissary.”

    The prime rib was absolutely delicious very tender and cooked to perfection. Heirloom tomato salad was fresh and tasty with blue cheese crumbles. Daniel was attentive and pleasant. His great service added to a delightful dining experience!

    I'm becoming a regular at the Tam because the food is so good and the ambience is so charming. I think we had a new server this time. The service felt a little hurried and disjointed. That's a first so I still expect to be coming back regularly. It's 20 miles each way for me but well worth it.

    This place has gone down hill. Seems to be catering to the tour bus crowd at this point. If I go back it will be to the bar.

    My friend and I meet up for dinner at the Tam O’Shanter every other month. The ambiance is warm and welcoming. The service and menu is excellent, as well as the wine selection. We are never rushed, spending a good 4 hours enjoying good food, wine, dessert, and friendship ❤️

    Just not as nice as we remember. We had a large party so big plywood table, no table cloth. Like a backyard picnic, not upscale restaurant. Service was a little slow, but food was pretty good. Miss the soufflé. Bummed they no longer make them.

    As always, Tam O'Shanter is a lovely way to start an evening out. We especially enjoyed the Sticky Toffee Pudding for desert (and thank you for recommending it a-la-mode!). I have been here many times over the years and it never disappoints. What a nice trip down memory lane.

    We had to go up stairs when we had a handicap person on a cane, and two 83 year olds. The back room they sat us in smelled of mold & mildew. The seats were so uncomfortable, and the table was unstable and wobbly. The food was only ok, and not very generous on the portions. We had asked for lemon for our water which she never brought, we asked for more butter for our bread which she forgot. We ordered two Scottish brown beers, but we were told the co2 was out on it. Over all, not worth it at all!

    Dined here for lunch. Reservation for Table 31 was graciously accommodated for a special visit as out of town guests. Good food, cozy ambience. Great menu, will definitely go back if in the area again to try other menu items.

    Our favorite restaurant for over 37 years. Always great food. Always consistent. The servers are always helpful and attentive. (Bravo Melinda!) Most recently I had prime rib w/creamed spinach, mashed potatoes and Yorkshire Pudding - traditional and mouth watering. Others in our party had salmon and a new chicken dish - all were very pleased with what they ordered. Shared the luscious hot fudge sundae. We've also had dinner plenty of times in the bar area (no reservations required) and also in their beautiful post-Covid outdoor gardens. (A reminder of the old Lawry's California Center.)

    First time here. Celebrating a birthday. The food and service were great but the experience was overshadowed by the bad experience of being seated outside. We were being eaten alive by the mosquitoes. We tried to change to inside but couldn’t. They should warn patrons of this ahead of time. Or take care of the problem.

    Vintage L.A. restaurant with great food...we sat at Walt Disney's table. Figuring that he went there often in years past. The restaurant was opened in the early 1920's!

    We loved all the food, except the shrimp cocktail, it was gross shrimp were not cleaned properly and the sauce had a weird taste. Prime rib was tender, bread and butter so good, and for all we got pricing was reasonable. Their were patrons their in our room that were extremely loud as if they were the only party there or out of the club, sing aloud, and yelling, but it was our first time there so I hope if we go back it's not an all the time thing.
