    We usually love Talula's but the food was not quite up to its usual stellar quality. But the thing that topped the scales was the surly and not nice waiter who clearly couldn't care less about us. Very disappointing.

    I had heard a lot about Talula's so maybe I was expecting too much. I must say that our server was top notch! The reservation was made in advance and stated that it was for a birthday which our server did acknowledge. We arrived 10 minutes before the reserved time and the host staff just seemed out of touch- too many cooks in the kitchen hovering around the stand. There was an open table next to the door and host stand that seemed to be left unseated due to its location. After waiting a while THAT'S where we were seated! Very disappointing. The food was good, but not as good as I had expected for $300 for 3.

    I was unfamiliar with Talula's Garden, but knew it was part of the Starr empire. On entry, I was not thrilled by the noise level; happily, the hostess could seat us outside, where it was certainly quieter. However, the outside is not fully protected from the elements: be aware. The foods we ordered were all tasty, but nothing was exceptional (meatball appetizer; beet salad; leek and potato soup; shrimp and scallops with risotto). On the other hand, the spicy marguerita was a serious winner, so maybe this is a restaurant for drinks and an appetizer, rather than for a full meal. The prices were within expectations for Center City Philadelphia. So, very good but not great.

    Servers were amazing!!! They were so sweet! I loved that they were backing each-other up! It has been awhile since I’ve experienced good customer service! The food was delicious! I just couldn’t get over having my mouth and eyes and soul all so happy at the same time! Loved the garden setting!

    The tables are quit close together which can make conversation awkward. The cheese plate was ample for two with four interesting cheeses. We both had the scallop and shrimp risotto - the scallops were melt in your mouth perfect but the shrimp was overcooked. I noted they had an excellent selection of dessert wines, the Rivesaltes was like honeyed cognac - delicious! I would describe it as good value for money and good but not great food.
