I was in SLC recently for a ski weekend and took a friend out for sushi since it was his birthday. I gotta say I was very impressed with the varied choices of fresh sashimi. Turns out they get their fish fresh from Japan every day. Since we were staying in Downtown and I knew this place would likely be packed on a Saturday night, we stopped by on our way back from the slopes to put our name down on the waitlist as soon as they opened for dinner. I was glad we did because they told me a 1 1/2 hour wait that ended up being two hours. I kinda expected that because although they had just opened for dinner, the dining room and waiting area were already packed. It was worth it, though. I just wish they would take reservations. Would definitely come back next time we have another ski weekend in Utah.

The creativity and presentation of the omakase meal was great. Menu prices were surprisingly reasonable for the quality of food. overall an excellent meal.

Takashi serves the best sushi in Salt Lake. Wthe menu features a good selection of hot and cold items. Portions are adequately sized and the pricing is well aligned with quality. Good selection of daily specials. Excellent drink menu including sakes, beers and wine.

As highly regarded as Takashi is in SLC it was disappointing that a Japanese restaurant would not have much to choose from entree list of items for a person with gluten intolerance and the server was not much helpful.
