Table is a small, seasonal, New American restaurant in the heart of downtown Asheville. Always inventive and at times whimsical, chef Jacob Sessoms’ daily changing menu is inspired by a wealth of American culinary traditions, paying particular homage to the South. Upon opening the doors in 2005, Table committed to supporting, celebrating, and showcasing regional and sustainable agriculture. Jacob and his team foster long-standing relationships with farmers and purveyors in Western NC and throughout the Southeast. Complimenting the critically acclaimed cuisine is an equally intelligent and imaginative wine and craft cocktail list.
Lee's rice, avocado, sunchoke, beets
Brasstown NY Strip Steak
celery root, black garlic, green peppercorn
Shrimp & Grits
sausage sofrito, pecorino, soft egg
Where to start! The cocktails, the food, the restaurant, the staff? All were absolutely amazing. At our table we had: old fashions, French 76es, Hummus & bread, Ribeye burger, lion's mane mushrooms, steak tartare, fish dip, seafood pasta, tile fish, sorbets and blue cheese dessert. Every bite was better than the bite before. I'll go back for sure. And I cannot wait.
We have never been disappointed. I classify the food as somewhat eclectic as one may question some the ingredients in a dish, but when they come together the results are masterful.. like a painter mixing his paints and producing a masterpiece.
Very disappointed in food. Grits were smoky and there was no yon the menu that it was. Toast was burnt and eggs overcooked
Great service and amazing food !!
Delicious food and very attentive servers. Definitely get the roasted bone marrow. The cocktail bar upstairs is cute too! Parking situation sucks but that’s downtown for ya.
A very nice experience. Seems like a lot of tables for the small space hence slightly noisy.
The SC Tilefish was bland and the presentation was poor. It was ordered by both of us because they would not bone a trout for my wife at the table. A red zinfandel served "ice" cold was too much. They corrected this error but claimed it was cellar temperature. Strange it was colder than the white wine I had earlier. The heavy chocolate dessert went well with the wine once the wine was served at proper temperature. Waiters service was very good but the restaurant is a bit too cozy for my taste. However, this is often the case in smaller Asheville restaurants.
Food was fantastic and service was exceptional- perfect balance between attentive and not hovering! Look forward to going back!
It was great! Small “crowd” on a slow Monday night. Everything was perfect! We love Table Asheville!
Waiter wasn’t the greatest, wanted more selection other than meet
Had a great experience. Wine list is fantastic. The food was outstanding. The coursing was on point. Must visit
Lovely restaurant, food was yummy, service excellent. Would appreciate more vegan options!
Reunion for friends from 25 years ago.
Great food, crear servicio in a cool spot.
The menu items sound interesting, but execution just wasn't there. The smoked fish dip didn't have any flavor and the sunburst trout was overcooked. Would not go back.
Cups of salt on every part of our food made what clearly otherwise would’ve been a good meal not good. Service was good. Portions small for the price, taking in other similarly priced restaurants in town. Small place and loud. Can’t recommend it. Saw a chef on they way out throwing handfuls of salt on someone else’s meal.
Excellent food, service was great.
Service was just right and the food was great.
Nice. Food excellent
Always a great dining experience. Food is awesome in the restaurant has a very nice atmosphere
This restaurant was a lovely space. The waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. Willing to customize our orders for allergies and preferences. The food was delicious, and we enjoyed lingering at the table. A great memory from our getaway to Asheville. I would definitely return when in town.
Delicious food and even better staff. I would 10/10 go enough times to get everything else on the menu. Highly recommended!
Food was great as usual, service is always excellent. Hard to beat this place.
Set at small bar. Started with st John oysters with a nice mignonette sauce and fresh ground horseradish, the pate topped with a beet sauce, and the bone marrow. All were excellent. For entrees had the wreck fish and short ribs. Both were prepared perfect. Ended with a chocolate dessert. Service was outstanding. They controlled our meal perfectly. Never rushed and no lull. Made for an excellent start to an evening. Recommend highly!
Table continues to put new items in the menu. The ribs with an Asian twist is the latest in this with a hint of plum and just enough soy.
What I appreciate about Table is there on-going menu which reflects the season's of the year so you know you are getting the best in this area. I had a couple items that I had never had the pleasure of eating before and found them both delightful.
Dining with friends from out of town before a concert
Amazing food and atmosphere. The steak was cooked to perfection. Everyobe was eating off each other's plates for a taste! Will definitely be back on our next visit to Asheville!
Can’t say enough good things about this place!
Every single time I go her for dinner, I get a dining experience. I love how the menu changes seasonally and often. The Imperial Life above it serves some of the best cocktails in Asheville. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that enjoys fantastic food, drinks, service and presentation of their food.
Learned a secret about cooking chicken from chef after impressive meal. Plus - awesome dessert of pineapple hand pie with a pepper infused ice cream that I was not expecting. Worked well together!!! Look forward to the next visit.
The food was interesting but probably not worth the price. Beware that they only serve their red wine highly chilled so you might want to order white wine.
Service is amazing
Great dinner and drinks! The hummus and whipped feta with amazing bread was a huge hit! We loved it so much we almost ordered another and skipped the rest of dinner. So glad we didn't skip the pasta and the amazing hamburger. It was all just yummy and we had a delightful gal taking care of us. Do yourself a favor and go experience a wonderful meal in a wonderful town!
We had a table for four. The service was very good, as was the ambience. Two of the diners were quite happy with their meal. One diner ordered trout and did not like the trout much.
Fantastic menu that changes frequently. Super friendly staff and a great wine selection
Really good Shrimp & Grits. Shrimps were huge and very flavorful dish. Poached eggs cooked to perfection. Bloody’s were fabulous. Burger was overcooked for my liking but wasn’t asked how I wanted it prepared. Overall good experience. Had noisy larger group next to us so restaurant a bit noisy.
I can’t even tell you how wonderful the food was.
They even made a special accommodation for my wife (it was her 30th birthday) and brought out a KILLER charcuterie board (her favorite and it wasn’t on the menu). Go here for casual, special or any dining. The service is first class and the food is better than anything I’ve ever had.
Very nice and great food!
Food was fabulous. As was the server!!!
