This week's special pealla
Spicy Garlic Shrimp
Great food and service! Also good vegetarian options on the menu.
We have missed dining at Taberna and was happy to be able to dine on their patio recently. The food was good in general. We had the tortilla, garlic shrimps (very tasty), clams, eggplant with honey (always a favorite), goat cheese toast, spinach and, of course, the croquettes. We ordered the spinach without the pine nuts due to our son’s nuts allergy. When it arrived at our table, the waiter repeated that it was spinach without the pine nuts. My son was about to start eating it. But, I noticed that there were a few nuts mixed in with the spinach. I ate one and confirmed that it was a pine nut. A new order had to be made to be nuts allergy safe. I knocked off a star because of that carelessness. It’s still one of our go to tapas restaurants in the neighborhood. Just need to be careful.
Using OPEN Table Reservation was Very helpful, The staff was very Cordial and Pleasant, The Restraunt was noisy ( Maybe because I was wearing My New Hearing aid, which was set at high), Menu was extensive, the Wine list was also Good and I like the Wine I Chose( My favorite, Region in Spain "Ribera del Douro", I loved the Appetizers, but was disappointed with the Main Course the Paella, It was advertised a Sea food Paella and had only two kind of sea food, and it was supposed to have Saffron, but I could not see the Saffron threads nor smell it, nor could see the Saffron color, since I use Saffron a lot in My Indian cooking, so I am well aware of that spice, Plus I could not detect the flavor of the Sea food stock, used to cook the rice, and the Garlic Shrimp was slightly overcooked, and lacked the flavor, as when I make Garlic Shrimp, I make it with good quality Olive oil, Sherry, Chilly flakes, and fresh Garlic. I short it lacked the main ingredients, to make it an exceptional dish. So In short I was disappointed with the food, as I love to cook Spanish foods, So I would say that I am picking on Technicality, but for other patrons, who are having Spanish Casein for the first time it would be great, but they certainly have room for improvement.
Excellent food and service! The outdoor patio is awesome, especially when they turn the lights on!
Wonderful food, well prepared. Fried haddock and calamari were light and crisp. Anchovies and olives were delish. Andrea was friendly and knowledgeable.
Great food and wine. Excellent service. Lucky to have it in the neighborhood.
Love place to eat outside. Great wines, delicious unusual food
Food is always excellent and service flawless.
We look forward to coming back soon ... been there twice in past 8 days.
One of our favorite places and definitely the BEST TAPAS in town. Deborah always recommends great wines and we love the feel of the place and the great wait staff.
We were a little worried eating here as vegetarians, but they had several options that were thoughtfully prepared. Seasonal special, stuffed squash flowers, were definitely a highlight. Also an impressive wine list. We'll return!
taberna is consistently terrific. with delicious food!
Fantastic Food and Wonderful Wine. I highly recommend.
Always have a great meal and a good time at Taberna!
Really enjoyed our time although there was an 1.5hr limit for each reservation. Food was excellent and hostess was very hospitable.
For close to two decades Taberna de Haro has been the prime destination for traditional Spanish tapas and the best selection of Spanish wines. The place just keeps getting better. Service was great, ambience super friendly, and outside is the place to dine in warm weather. There is some innovation in some of the tapas, great to explore these unexpected changes.
A Tapas restaurant with no sangria? Small plates are much smaller than pre pandemic. I love this place but I’m disappointed
20 minutes passed before a server appeared. Genuine efforts were made to make up for that gaff. Seating was uncomfortable, food was mediocre (with the exception of the fried calamari) compared to Barcelona. It was busy and other people seemed content, so I suspect that I’m expressing a minority opinion.
I'm so sorry you had to wait 20 minutes for your server to get to you. This is definitely too long, even on a busy, beautiful night. Thank you for acknowledging the efforts we made to compensate for our 'gaff.' We aim to attend to each new table within 2 minutes, but once in a while those busy moments require more hands than we mere mortal humans have! Again, my apologies for the wait. Our authentic Spanish cuisine has been popular since 1998 in this chef-owner-operated business , and we use excellent ingredients as well as real Spanish recipes. I'm sorry it was not exactly to your liking.
Great wine and food to hang out with friends! The environment is very cozy.
Went there for my son’s birthday. Love this place! The food and the people (especially Peter) are great!
Just a quaint Spanish restaurant with fantastic wine list… not much can be said other than fantastic experience
Love this place. Every item was delicious. Fun, festive atmosphere. Prompt, friendly, knowledgeable service. What more can you ask for?
Taberna de Haró is one of the great hidden gems of Boston. It must have one of the best if not the best wine list for Spanish wines and sherries on the east coast.
Finally was able to Taberna de Haro! Creative tapas dishes. Had the saffron-salted cod balls and the sweetbreads. My two table mates each had a different squid in its own ink dishes, which allowed us to compare them. Both were great, especially the paella-pan cooked version. There are few Spanish restaurants in town. I can think of Dali in Cambridge and the Barcelona restaurants. Taberna is he real deal, not serving the yuppified versions at the B restaurants. It's been too long since I was at Dali to make a comparison. Will definately be back to Taberna as our prelude to spending two months in Spain next year.
We love this restaurant!!! It is by far the most authentic Spanish experience in Boston. 10/10 would recommend.
Aside from the mind-melting heat and stiff air - no fans, a paltry air conditioning system that could not keep up with the staff going in an out of two doors all night long. Service was ridiculously slow, two people, one drink (which took 40 minutes and 4 requests to receive) a few dished and no dessert, and we were there for an hour and 40 minutes. To top it all off, the automatic 20% gratuity was an insult. 20% is my standard and yet I was insulted that I was forced to pay it. Finally, the menu was dramatically reduced from prior experiences thus reducing the appeal of the restaurant offerings. I won't be returning.
The only very bad experience I had was at the end when they automatically added 20% to the bill. I always tip 20% and more depends on the service. I don’t think they deserved the 20% because since the beginning they didn’t have the beer I want ( it was humid, I really wanted my beer) besides that, service was average. When I asked one of the servers that I didn’t want to tip 20% she told me I have to speak with a manager, at the end I do not know who was the manager , because 2 or 3 people came to the table . At the end a “ kind of young girl with the worst attitude ever” told me that the 20% is to share with kitchen, all the staff in the restaurant which I disagree since most of kitchen people earn at least $15 per hour and the waitress $3 per hour. She just told me that if I do not like, do not come back! I was just in shock! I was making an statement, I told them, well, I am going to tip only $15%, at the end when I saw my bank statement they did not charge any “ tip” which is bad , because at the end the waitress ended up with CERO tip .
Our server was fantastic. Portions were miniscule (and expensive). The AC was out, so indoors was stuffy and hot. Outdoors was better than indoors, but it was a very hot night.
The food was very good. Bread seems like an obvious accompaniment to the cheese board. Drinks were very good. The fresh strawberry dessert was refreshing and delicious.
Every plate was very well prepared. Highly recommend the paella, croquettes, albondigas, zetas, combination dish and for dessert the natilla. White wines were also excellent. Service was relaxed and efficient. Overall a wonderful night.
Food and service was very quick and absolutely delicious. Strongly recommend ordering the paella as soon as you get there so it has time to cook while you enjoy some small plates. Paella seems like a 2-portion dish, we split it between 3 people and ordered 3 side dishes and 2 desserts. Definitely will be back!
A fun place with excellent and creative food, a great Spanish wine list and superb service. We ate a variety of Tapas and enjoyed them all.
I'm a repeat customer here, in part because the staff is always so welcoming. The food is never less than good and often is excellent. I've never been anything less than delighted with grilled seafood (scallops, shrimp) when I find it on the menu, which does change in response to seasons and market availability. I don't typically care for live music at a restaurant—I want to be able to talk to my dinner companions—but we all loved the live flamenco guitarist on a Tuesday night. I also feel strongly about supporting independent, neighborhood restaurants, particularly this one, which took extra steps to support its kitchen staff during the pandemic.
I love this place- so cute, so relaxed, great patio, great food
Air conditioning inside not functioning, no warning despite having a reservation.
Seated in the open kitchen room, like being in the sauna.
Food is decent, but portions are tiny for the prices charged.
DO NOT SIT INSIDE during summer
I'm truly sorry about the heat that day. Like most businesses, my restaurant is feeling the burn of supply chain issues and labor shortages. My annual AC maintenance usually takes place in May and this year it can't be done until July. It works, but not well on 90º days. I'm also sorry you found our tapas to be expensive. Food costs are higher than ever, and I have had to raise prices for the first time in years (or not take a salary, which I did for most of 2020).
Disappointing service and mediocre food. Staff moves at a snails pace and doesn’t really care. This is not worth a second trip unless they get their act in gear....
Always great, authentic tapas, warm service. The papa too is charming.
Great food, many Spanish tapas and wonderful wines.
So happy to return to my favorite restaurant... dinner was just outstanding!
The food was not made with care …Drinks were awful
Food, presentation, wine list, service, they're all excellent. I enjoy having a kitchen open to the dining area. The only thing I'd wish they'd do would be to install acoustic tiles on the ceiling to tamp down the noise level somewhat, as it's a bit difficult to carry on a relaxed conversation when the kitchen is going full tilt.
