Very disappointed in the Switchback. From the moment you walked in the hostess taking names and confirming reservations was rude without reason and was talking only with Restarant folks only. Wait staff was very nice. My steak was to be cooked med well and came out so undercooked. Steak sent back and returned more than well done! No apology from staff. Husbands fish was ok but not great. For the prices, everything ala carte, it is not worth the visit.
Super steak house food. Steak and sides perfect. A little mix up as to who was going to be our server, but, it all worked out OK
Our waiter, Jason, offered fair service. He was not social, like he was with the table next to us and when he was clearing our entree plates, he did not offer us the option to take our leftovers with us. He just stacked our plates and took them away. Clearly my daughter & I were not the clientele he wanted sitting at his table. The busser was very pleasant and social. The food was tasty but a bit overpriced.
We ate dinner here, fabulous presentation, great taste, and service despite only having 4 server's was great. Looking forward to our next visit.
My husband and I made a reservation while on a trip for our anniversary. I’m thankful that I found Switchback Grille on Opentable and made a reservation as it was booked solid. The meal was excellent, the view was beautiful, and our server,Jason, was helpful and on the spot.
This is a more expensive place to eat. Location close to hotel and the availability for a reservation for 2 was the reason we went there. We felt menu was limited. Smallest filet mignon was 7 oz for $44 and up from there. Chicken was $34. That’s a lot for chicken. Even bread is ala carte. We ended up getting 2 cocktails, meatloaf, an appy and side of augratin potatoes came to $100 with tip. Wasn’t worth it in our opinion.
the menu selection and service were great. My dinner took an extremely long time to arrive at our table as it needed to be remade as gluten free per my request when ordered. We were seated at a small table in a corner next to a large party which included many noisy children. This made it extremely difficult to converse with my dinner partner.
Delicious food, at a good price. Great for a “nicer” meal out while visiting Zion
Food was great. Our server was stretched pretty thin but did a good job nonetheless. Our wine w/ dinner didn't show up until after we had our entrées. Overall a nice place and nice experience.
The mains (both of us had steak) were fantastic and cooked perfectly. Our server, Matt, was also great. The sides were overpriced and did not live up to the quality of the steaks. The hostess seemed a bit overwhelmed with the amount of people needing to be seated at once but once we were seated, things went smoothly and we had excellent service.
Overall it was very good. My only complaint was that after talking to our waiter twice about not rushing us, the entrees came out before I was finished with my salad. We were in and out of Switchback In just over an hour. If I am going to dine in a reasonably expensive restaurant, I want to savor my food and the dining experience. It should not have been a problem given that we twice told him not to rush us. Will I go back or recommend? No.
Excellent steaks and service! Pricey but a nice dinner and atmosphere in Springdale.
The service and the food was outstanding. The Colorado rack of lamb was the best lamb I ever had. Juicy, flavorful and perfectly prepared topped with a blackberry glaze. Roasted vegetables as the sides. A delicious layered potato. Draft beers and wine by the glass are available. The service was excellent. The ambiance is beautiful. Of course you are in a tourist town and you're not going to get a deal at a high end restaurant.
Great Steaks! Nice atmosphere. Probably one of the better restaurants in Springdale.
Happened across this restaurant while visiting Zion National Park. Very nice decor, Excellent filet, soups were delicious. Great service. Highly recommended.
This was a mixed experience for us. We were hoping for a relaxing tasty meal after days of hiking and eating trail mix. The food was excellent. I had a NY strip done to my liking with a tasty peppercorn glaze. My wife had pecan encrusted trout, which she enjoyed. However the service was abysmal. I understand that staffing is a problem for all eateries, and as such is essentially an equalizer when comparing dining experiences. Unfortunately at Switchback the wait staff were not attentive at all. We waited an hour for our food, with no apologies or explanations as to the delay. The waiter once stated without any remorse that it was his fault!? The food was good, but the overall experience was marred by this poor service. I would look elsewhere for dining in Springdale.
The weight stuff and food were all excellent
The food and service was excellent!! Can’t wait to go back!’
Server outstanding. Food good, not great. Wine selection fair.
It was the best meal of our 7 day trip!
Beautiful restaurant with lovely
View of Zion.’
We started with soup and beet salad which were delicious.
But the entrees were disappointing.
The trout was presented as a vertical tower, very strange, and was minus any sauce, hence extremely dry and tasteless.
The halibut which is a dry fish unless prepared correctly ,was a nice piece of fish but overcooked and again without any sauce. It was like chewing sawdust which was a shame as the fish was a generous portion and of excellent quality. In short the setting and ambiance are 5 star, portions are generous, but our fish entrees were very poorly done.
Food was amazing. It was the perfect way to end a long day of hiking!
Beautiful restaurant with very good service and food. Fillet was delicious, tender and perfectly cooked. Creme brulee was great too!
We had a great meal. Food was prepared well, and the portions were plentiful. The service wasn't great, mainly because we had a waiter that was new, but it could have been something else. An order got messed up, and it took ages for bread to go with our burrata to arrive. The hostess had to intervene. Our waiter hardly came over to ask how we were doing, and if we needed anything. Fortunately, he made good by reducing our bill.
I really liked this restaurant in Springdale. Service was outstanding! Great server.
For openers, we had the amazing beet and greens salad. A+ salads. Our mains - crusted fish - were just OK. Not bad - just average for the pricing of each dish. Great wine and beer selection. I would return, for sure and try other dishes next time. This is a class place. Expensive.
It was amazing!!!
Excellent service and food. Aged beef cooked to desired temperature was excellent.
My steak was cooked well done when I ordered medium rare. It took at least 15-20 minutes to get one cooked correctly. My wife was done eating by the time I was served. My wine was full of sediment on the bottom of the glass . It was our 39th wedding anniversary. Extremely disappointing for such an expensive and high end restaurant.
Excellent food, excellent portion sizes, excellent presentation, excellent value. Wine list over priced and not too imaginative but that seems to be rather common in restaurants these days.
Had a table for 8 and it was a huge table, so not very intimate. For a smaller party of 2 or 4 I’m sure the table size is fine.
Are dinner here. My husband got a steak which he raves about. I got the scallop appetizer . He & I shared the beet salad which was very delicious. Service was very good.
All staff were helpful, accommodating and professional. We sat outside in a comfortable, quiet table allowing conversation.
A very nicely decorated restaurant with friendly service. We waited a surprisingly long time to be seated, even though we had a reservation. Of of the four people in our party only one thought their entree was excellent. The rest of us thought they were alright but not up to the expectations and the prices.
Lovely dining room. Great menu. The entrees were very good! Our server, Blake N, was exceptional.
We had a great dinner that was cooked to perfection. We split two sides which were generous in their portioning. Overall, a first class establishment.
One of the best meals we have eaten as we've traveled to 15 states this summer. Our appetizer, salad and entree were all superb and the service very attentive.
They forgot my salad. Food was lless than ok. Service was a little better than ok. But it was expensive and not worth it. $13 martini was ridiculous.
Great food, great wait staff.
My wife and I both had Halibut at the waiter's recommendation. It had a "periodic" fishy taste for both my wife and myself. I don't remember experiencing this anywhere else. Obviously, the fish was not real fresh. Hence, the fishy taste.
We probably should have had steak!
Bartender was excellent. Food was very high quality. My husband loved the tomato/gruyere soup! My filet was cooked perfectly. Our server seemed annoyed that we bought our bottle of wine at the bar rather than ordering it at the table. I over-tipped to make up for it, but he was noticeably chilly when he saw we already had our wine.
Wonderful view. Ambience great. The steaks were outstanding. Cooked to perfection. Sides were just as tasty . We had fillet’s with sides of mushrooms, broccoli and roasted potatoes. They have a pretty good wine list as well. We were here 6 years ago and the food and service is the same - great!
