Great location . Glorious views as you expect in Zion
Service was good . Would advise you book as it was busy.
I had sword fush. A weird choice I know given distance from the sea but it was fresh and tasted fantastic.
Local beer was good too.
Interesting salads made a great meal.
Very pricey. But not surprising given where it is
Average range of menu selections for a restaurant of this cost
Service was fairly good - however, server wanted to know wine selections prior to entree selections
Meal was good but not excellent
The ambiance was very comforting offering an outside view of their garden and a mountain face. Our server was very informative and friendly. The food was well prepared, tasty and well portioned. Highly recommended.
The view was amazing! The food was good. Not great. For the pricing, we expected great. One meal was sent back 3 times to get the meat to the right temp and manager ended up comping it. but without apology. Everything is a la carte so i feel the $$ should have been higher.
Fried Calamari soft, not crispy. Not really good. First T-Bone steak, l ordered rare has been served „well done“. The served another one within one minute with a big cut, I‘m sure they served it to another guest before, maybe they ordered their steak „well done“. The steak, to be honest, was good.
We did not order a desert and left this (not hot) spot. Will not visit again.
our starters ? Because the kitchen want to close? It is a pity whit a porthoise
Great ambiance. We got a window seat with a fantastic view. The food was delicious. A bit pricey, but expected for the area. You can watch the chef put the finishing touches on each dish from the lobby area. Overall, we had a nice romantic experience.
This restaurant was overpriced for the quality. The steaks were good, but not as good as they should be after a month of aging. The cocktails were average at best. Only stays in business from limited options in town.
We've been to Zion 10 times and going to Switchback is a family tradition every year! After the majestic Narrows... perfect end to the day!
I would not recommend the restaurant to anyone and will not return
Great food, nice folks! Choose it cause it was close to our hotel, but we sure are glad we did! The bread and balsamic starter was amazing. The steak was cooked to perfection, the spaghetti and buffalo was a hit for my nine year old son. My husband had the pork chops which was the cut of the day and he really enjoyed it except that the bacon was burnt on one side which left a bad taste in his mouth so he pushed it off to the side. If we lived in the area we would return.
Switchback is the reason we go on an overnight to Springdale. My husband and I do a date night for this amazing food and Springdales beauty. It is our favorite place to eat within 1,000 miles from home. Derek, The Manager always takes great care of us. We have always enjoyed our friendly staff. One of us if not both, try the specials, have an appitizer, salad and dessert, it is truly that delicious!
We have been there twice
Food is really good, service was awful the second time as they mixed every thing up
I went there with my 12 year old grand daughter after hiking @ Zion National Park. We were staying near the East Gate of the park, so we returned to our cabin after hiking to shower & dress nice. The drive through Zion NP to get to Switchback Grill was about 40 minutes, but still worth the time/drive. Very nice ambiance, great service, and the meal was delicious (spaghetti & buffalo meatballs for GD and Halibut for me; shared chocolate bread pudding with bananas & ice cream). We made reservations for 6 pm which turned out was not really necessary that early. Waitress said they get busy about 7 pm.
The food was just OK and the servers were indifferent. The prices were moderate to high, but not excessive. The real deterrent is the dining experience was not worth the price. I would not recommend it.
Perfection! The meal and service was worth every penny.
We were visiting Zion National Park. My husband wanted a steak, so after looking at the restaurants that offered steak, we chose Switchback Grille. We eat at high end steak restaurants freqently and he said it was the best steak he had eaten in a long time. I had the beet salad, which was different and very, very good and the Ahi Tuna special. Also delicious. The shrimp cocktail that my husband enjoyed prior to his steak was a very nice presentation of a classic standby. We would definitely go back it in the area. We had a window seat with a beautiful view also.
The restaurant was pleasant to be in. The food was well executed and delicious.
We had family from out of town so we drove to beautiful Springdale for dinner. The meal and ambience was great. I would prefer the server hold back on trying to get the food ordered when wine or cocktails are ordered first. I prefer to relax and enjoy conversation before ordering food.
We have been travelling around the four corners area and this has been our number 1 restaurant . Wish we could have stayed another night would have gone back . Prob all the priciest restaurant around Zion but was worth it
A GREAT bithday meal--selections that appealed to all of us. Believe it or not, the meatloaf was spectacular (my husband's choice)! My stuffed shrimp was cooked perfectly and paired with a yummy corn and rice concoction. Also selected were the stuffed chicken and pan seared salmon--kids loved it. I was very pleased to see that they seated us at a spectacular table at the window with the most amazing view! Service was spot on and the bread pudding was the topper for the evening. My only complaint is that my mojito was a bit watery and not bubbly or minty enough--not sure if it's because the ice melted (you need a lot of ice at Mt Zion this time of year), or if I'm just not remembering what a mojito is like (it's been years since I've had a drink). Other than that, a very memorable evening and one I would repeat. This restaurant is more for an older crowd (my kids are 14 and 22)--rambunctious little ones would be frowned upon. I'd suggest the Bit & Spur across the street for the young ones.
Was recommended by the reception of our hotel.
However the price was high related to the quality it was all overvooked!
Don’t go there!
For the most expensive place in town, it was horrible. It took one hour and twenty five minutes to get food, and never once did our server come by to explain the wait. We had to flag down the manager. Then, they brought food for everybody except the diabetic kid who just sat there til we flagged down the manager again. A steak ordered “very well done” was rare on one end and medium rare on the other end. The scallops were gritty and tasted funny. Three out of the six meals were left uneaten. I wouldn’t have found this place acceptable for the cheapest place in town and it was about $40 to 50 a plate. The manager comped us two of the meals, but it really ruined our night. The elderly woman was sick from the wait by the end and the diabetic fell asleep waiting. Don’t bother going.
What a fiasco! This was suppose to be fine dining, raw chicken over done steak and trout so tasteless a cat would probably not eat it. It would not be a high bar to find something better
Had a nice dinner after hiking at Zion.
Pleasantly surprised with this restaurant! We had a wonderful meal here.
The food was overpriced and the hostess was very rude to us. We had a reservation at 9 Pm and a large party of young people was seated next to us. We didn’t want to be near their mouse and asked to move. Our waitress was super nice and immediately gave us another table but the hostess said it was for someone with a reservation but we had an open table reservation. She wanted us to move but we didn’t.
The food was excellent, their steaks are amazing, but be prepared to purchase all sides if you order a steak. All other meals come with sides. Stuffed chicken. had wonderfully subtle flavors.
Service was good, very professional, nicely laid back. Relaxing. Some would say slow but it wasn't, just very comfortable and encouraged interaction. You will not feel rushed. Would have been perfect for our 49th
anniversary if I had called directly, but simply putting it as a special occasion on the reservation thru open table, was insufficient. Call directly and request a preference if you have one. We were initially being place in the further most corner against the corner wall, small table where I would have been totally claustrophobic. They did move us to a better location, but would have appreciated a view we could both enjoy for this specific occassion, and we are familiar with this restaurant from years of going there, but didn't go directly thru them, so as I say, that information didn't transfer.
They have a pleasant atmosphere, fireplace is wonderful at cooler times, view is nice, comfortable seating and as I say, an unhurried, very competent wait staff accompanied by excellent food. In the 10 years or so we have eaten there, previously while vacationing, currently while living there, we have never been disappointed with the food. I still miss one amazing piece of art I was told went home with the owners along the way, but so understandable and sure they are enjoying it as it should be well appreciated. Thank you for maintaining a consistent high standard over the years.
My wife and I were on a week vacation for our 10 year wedding anniversary and we wanted a nice steak dinner, not only was the food amazing but our waiter Rob was very attentive, informative, and all in all a real pleasure to have served us !!!! I would definitely dine there again as well as recommend switchback to any of my friends who might be in the Springdale area !!!
Everything from our server Jenny to the meal was very enjoyable.
Food was very good - server had no coordination and perhaps had too many tables - Mgr seemed only concerned with pouring guest water - Mgr when leaving showed no interest in asking how our dinner was or to even say good bye and thank you from the hostess podium
Chicken over cooked
Wrong sides were brought w/ my meal
We asked for a table gBy the window & we were told they were reserved for patrties of 4 They then went & sat 3 of the window tables with 2 people
Disappointing experience. I made reservation for a special dinner for Mother's Day party of 10. I would not recommend it.
We had a glass of wine at the bar because the hostess told us that we could not be seated before our reservation time because of a large party. Notably, there was only one other table occupied in the main dining room—at 6:30 pm on a Saturday night. Just before 7, we were escorted to our table. My friend ordered a Caesar’s salad and I ordered the stuffed shrimp. Within the next 20 minutes, 3 other tables were seated. All of their drinks and first courses arrived and we were still waiting for our food at 7:50. We complained to the hostess, who simply said that our “waitress is slow”. She scurried away and didn’t help us. We then flagged another server, asking for her to jail our waitress. Finally. We put money on the table for my glass of wine and left at 8 pm, as our dinner was making its way to us from the kitchen.
The service was very good - our particular server was very attentive and friendly, along with with gal who brought us our food. The burrata special starter was delicious and presentation was beautiful. We had 3 shareable sides: mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli, and creamed spinach and each was truly amazing. We got 2 special rib eye filets and one kobe - my steak came out medium well instead of medium rare and she toonniy back but by the time it came back the others were done eating and I was full of sides so the very stoic manager came out and took my plate away - luckily they didn’t charge us for it / nor should they have. The other steaks were good but not great. Everything else was great so I gave 4 stars for that.
Celebrated our anniversary with a wonderful dinner, excellent service and beautiful views. One of our favorite places for special occasions.
Switchback Grille was another pleasant surprise in the Zion/Springfield business district. Prices were a little hefty, food quality was very good, and the service above average. Our server kept reaching across my wife’s front to replace water, silverware , etc. When you are asking $60-80 per person for a meal, you would expect the server to be be mindful of server etiquette! This aside, the overall experience deserves a four star rating. Thanks. PS- Jack’s next door under common ownership is also very good !
I ordered the filet and shrimp that were both cool temperature wise. The salad that my wife ordered was not the one that was served. Kitchen needs some attention. Probably wouldn’t recommend based on the food and price point.
Service was excellent on all levels. Ambiance was wonderful as well.
I was disappointed with the steak. Steak was supposed to be rib eye. It was more like a sirloin. Absolutely no marbling or fat on the steak. In the plus side it was thick but overdone. ( I requested medium rare and it was a solid medium) . The other food was good but not noteworthy. Chocolate cake was dry.
Pricing was quite high for the quality of the food.
Southwestern decor with beautiful views of mountains.
Husband enjoyed thick slice prime rib. I had pasta
Absolutely scrumptious dessert chocolate banana bread pudding. Fresh glazed banana slices. Big enough to share
Wait staff very attentive
Extensive wine menu
