This small and cosy Indian on Lordship Lane is a great local curry house in East Dulwich that is perfect for everything from last-minute mid-week meals to parties and fun family nights out. Swadesh is loved by locals for their interesting and diverse Indian menu which steers clear from the regular curry house fare, and the glass-fronted dining room is smart and clean with wooden floors, leather banquettes and a cheery ambience. Delicious food and attentive service. Only thing was that it was very quiet for a Friday night - so lacking in atmosphere. However, that was fine by us as it meant we could enjoy catching up without having to shout at each other!

The food at Swadesh is extremely good and original. We are veggies and there is a huge selection of different dishes. However, the service was very slow. The staff were very friendly, but we saw a lot of take-aways going out of the door before we got our dinner. Still, in our experience, this happens in a number of the Lordship Lane Indians so this is not s problem just at Swadesh and we will go back.

Our favourite London curry house. Not Been for a few months (more's the pity) so we made a special effort to get along. As good as ever, great friendly staff, a fresh and innovative chef and excellent prices. If you're in the Dulwich area, trust me, you NEED to visit this curry house!

Swadesh - Lordship Lane East Dulwich was a lovely restaurant. Service from the moment I walked through the door was excellent and the food was very reasonably priced and extremely good. I would happily recommend Swadesh to friends.

We were the only diners which seemed strange for a restaurant rated so highly on this site... we wondered if the rating was genuine as we arrived! The outside of the building is not particularly inviting and this, alongside it's position away from the main strip of bars, restaurants and shops on Lordship Lane probably account for the lack of trade. Once inside the atmosphere was good though, and the service excellent. We both went with the recommendations made to us which were exceptional.
