Sushi Sasabune fue elegido como "Best Restaurant Hawaii" y ganó el "Top Food Honors" por Zagat’s Survey Magazine 2011/2012. Es importante hacer notar que no ofrece rollos California y que la mayoría del sushi al estilo omakase (a gusto del chef) no debe sazonarse con salsa de soya ni wasabi. Esta será una nueva experiencia que disfrutará el comensal. Cada plato pequeño está elaborado para complementar al anterior y prepararlo para el siguiente. Podrá degustar el sashimi y algunos tipos de sushi artesanal en su estado más puro. Un crítico culinario local, después de cenar en el restaurante, comentó sobre el estilo de sushi que "el pescado y los mariscos son extremadamente frescos, sin olor ni resabios, tan frescos que su sabor es dulce, algo que no había experimentado en otros restaurantes". Al visitar el lugar el chef será su guía para que descubra el pescado más fresco del mercado y pueda relajarse.

                                                                                                      We really enjoyed our experience here. They even let some of us “tap out” when we were full, and they charge by the piece. It was definitely an expensive dinner ($175-180/pp). But the fish was high quality, and the servers gave us some nice descriptions. This is a highly curated sushi experience, and I would definitely put it amongst the top omakase experiences we have had on the west coast and Japan. Enjoy !

                                                                                                      Have dined here many times and it has been outstanding. Last night might have been a “one off”, but we noticed the portions to be much smaller and really not quite as tasty as previous visits. The service was very attentive and our visit was very good, just not outstanding like before.

                                                                                                      Value is a relative term. It was, without a doubt, one of the best meals I have ever had. Everyone thinks they have had good sushi until they actually taste something like this. I am not sure if it is the superior knife skills or the freshness of the fish. Whatever it is, I have never had that exquisite combination of pillowy soft mouth feel combined with layers of textures and flavors. There were several standouts that were just next level. The toro, octopus, smoked skipjack, Tasmanian salmon, scallop—so many incredible dishes. We are so glad we went and looking forward to bringing more people next time to experience this transcendent delight!

                                                                                                      Weird server experience. Which took away from the omakase experience. Upon approach to get the drink order, I order a Coke- he immediately starts working the tip. Giving us a 2 minute dissertation on how expensive Coca Cola is for HIM now at the grocery store. Me and my guest are staring at him, waiting on our drinks, listening to him complain about his $12 six pack of Coke from Foodland. This was the first thing out of his mouth. It was my birthday, we are celebrating, so what a weird ambiance now!! Completely changed the mood from celebration to just another local place. Now it just seems like a big show because you know it’s astronomically overpriced. Be prepared to spend $200-$300 PER PERSON. A few fish were amazing, a few tasted fishy, like the oysters.

                                                                                                      For me, Sasubune is a high quality Japanese Omakase. I have not been there for years and since the pandemic/covid lockdown. I am happy to see the staff and the restaurant is still in business. Parking is available in the back. I feel sorry for the other patrons because my voice level and my guests were pretty loud. But we all had good conversations. I’m glad my 1st time back in many years. I got to share it with people who would really savory each bite. Learn about the dishes and appreciate being invited . Expect to spend money.
