Sushi Roku - Newport Beach
We enjoyed their Happy Hour menu in their bar area. We ordered almost every item listed and loved all of it. The brussel sprouts chips was a little too salty but still ok. The friendly bartender was also our waiter and he checked on us often. Great dining experience all around!
The restaurant is a pleasure. The staff are approachable and professional. The food is superb. The presentation is excellent. This is a place we regularly visit.
We really enjoyed tonight. Service was excellent but the food was outstanding. Fresh flavors and wonderful selection.
My husband and I love your restaurant. The food is always so yummy and the service spot on. The DJ this night was particularly fun.
Awesome ambiance, food, location. A bit on the expensive side but very enjoyable. One of his cocktails the Roku fusión was just amazing!!!, One of the best vodka cocktails I have ever had, recommended!
We celebrated my daughters birthday with friends and overall, we enjoyed our dinner and evening. We loved our spot an at oval booth with a view of the sushi bar. We ordered miso soup, grilled octopus, salmon sashimi, onagi and salmon sushi, and 5 types of rolls, cocktails for adults and Japanese soft drinks for the teens, and desserts to share. The food was fresh and well prepared- we all enjoyed our meal. Our waitress was accommodating with a request to lower the spice quotient on certain rolls. She did her job. She was businesslike rather than personable and this took away from the experience at this high end restaurant. It was a great dinner which could have been stellar with service that was less perfunctory and more charismatic.
Freshest sushi ever! Very creative chefs and amazing service. We’ll be back.
Poke Bowl best on the planet! Lobster Roll #2
Great food, good service
Very slow in getting our order out. The big round is to big and bulky to be serving the dainty sushi. Our waitress wears so nice.
Wonderful restaurant and excellent service by Beau(Bo?). Great suggestions, hysterical personality , and the food was all wonderful. We ordered about ½ the things on the menu( mostly sushi) and every was great. Hope to get back there again soon
Food was great but we received a terribly cramped table to begin with and we were getting bumped every 3 seconds. We asked to move but they only had outside seating to which we reluctantly agreed. When we got to our new table, it smelled like fresh manure and the heat lamp was super ineffective so we were cold. Because we got moved, the service ended up lacking because they didn’t change our server. Instead, she had to come all the way from her section, which wasn’t close, so we became an afterthought. Overall, I wish it had been a better experience for my wife and my anniversary, but it was still good food.
Great lunch, outstanding service!
The food is always good. The dj was just starting and the service is always outstanding!!
Overall not very good unfortunately. The wine was nice. We ordered three
Food were good. But customer interactions were not acceptable for Asian guests. My customer became upset because ordered ice cream didn’t arrive after 10 minutes.
This is a new find for us. Our first visit was during Restaurant Reek but didn't realize it until after we ordered. The sushi chef kept making these amazing RW plates so we asked about them. Then we made reservations and came back 3 nights later so we could enjoy some of those amazing plates! We were not disappointed!! The sushi here is extremely fresh and nicely prepared- so tasty it puts all our other favorite sushi places to shame. The only reason I couldn't give it 5 stars all around is our waiter the 2nd visit was terrible. We'll still go back- no doubt about that. The manager was very apologetic and brought us 2 complimentary small plates. You have to try this wonderful sushi place, it's amazing!
Service was average, nothing special especially given the restaurant wasn't that busy.
It's the little things that add up such as tastes of miso soup, salad dressing and tempura sauce. Those were sub par. Sushi was good. For the price, I believe you can get much better tasting food at other Japanese restaurants.
Excellent restaurant, very accommodating, wonderful service, delicious food and drinks. This is one of our favorites in Newport Beach.
The hostess can be more cordial and warm. There were some crumbs on our seats and when we let know, she appeared to be annoyed. The server was nice and friendly. Food was average.
The kids “yakisoba” tasted like butter spaghetti; karage (crispy chicken) lacked ginger..food was such low quality
We come in semi-regularly and always like it. Delicious food and great drinks with a fun atmosphere!
Went because of Newport restaurant week on Saturday night, but there was apparently no special menu that was offered to us. Just the usual menu. They had a DJ and the music was extremely loud I wasn’t sure whether I was in a dance club or an elegant Japanese restaurant, it was kind of hoping for the latter. Avoid the calamari appetizer at all cost – it was described with a jalapeño glaze so I was thinking it was crispy calamari with a little sausage drizzled on top but instead it was soggy calamari sitting in a sauce. I think they should’ve just sautéed the calamari instead of Fried it, was a soggy mess, we didn’t finish it. We got the scallop sushi special which was very delicate and delicious, soft shell crab roll which was good and the spicy tuna tempura roll which was pretty good. Also had the grilled octopus which was excellent. I had the gingersnap cocktail which was tasty.Overall for the money I’d rather go to a restaurant that I could actually have a conversation. Don’t know if they have a DJ there every night, but regardless don’t think we will be back.
Suhi bar or DJ bar?
Music was way too loud.
Will I go there again. NO.
Love the food great quality, fresh and comes out pretty fast. Awesome service very attentive staff and love the ambiance of the place. My boyfriend and I went for our anniversary and we both had a 3 course meal with shared appetizer, entree, dessert and both had a cocktail and our bill was just a little over a hundred bucks. For the level or service and quality of food that is a steal! If I could eat there everyday I would and definitely am going back.
1. I sat at the Sushi bar, and had a fantastic omakase. The sushi chef gave me personal attention and was unassuming yet excellent.
2. The prices are not cheap, but most of the dishes I tried were terrific.
3. The atmosphere is a bit of a zoo. For some folk that's terrific -- seen and be seen --; for others it is probably hell on earth. There is a loud bar attached to the restaurant. There is a lot of demanding customers who spent a good chunk of their time on the phone, etc.
4. Do check your bill. I was charged stuff I never asked for, but was served. They took it off the bill w/o protest.
Food here was at most decent. If you're looking for ambiance and a place to hang out with good company, by all means. If you're here because you want high quality, delicious sushi, look elsewhere.
Salmon sushi was delicious! They have a great happy hour at the bar.
Great experience. Definitely a good spot for special occasions or a date when you’re trying to impress someone.
Had to wait a lot between courses.
We had an amazing time at Sushi Roku enjoying their delicious Happy Hour menu and drinks with the most wonderful service! Everyone went out of their way to make sure we had everything we wanted and needed. Another memorable dining experience! That's why we keep coming back.
Great food and fast service!
Awesome celebration-great service and fantastic food!!
Delicious food, great service and lovely ambiance. Who could ask for more? Try a lychee martini which is refreshing and not overwhelming sweet. My husband always starts with a California roll and I tried their new Asian pear salad. Yummy! Bill goes the whole sushi route with lots of fresh fish and I had some crispy and delicious vegetable tempura. Tempura was fresh and crispy unlike soggy tempura dishes I have tried at other restaurants. The cheesecake topped with chocolate and wrapped in cotton candy is over the top good. Sushi Rohu is the best Japanese restaurant that we have tried in Orange County.
WE love it!!. The food and the service is amazing
the cauliflower stater and the ribeye asparagus and the popcorn shrimp!!!
Phenomenal! We asked to be seated at the bar and had the best food recs and service. Andrew was bartending and made our experience top notch. Sushi is incredible-we tried almost all sushi/sashimi and appetizers and all were great. The sea bass skewers were a favorite. Gluten free menu was really good. Drinks were great. Will definitely be coming back often!
Enjoyed our meal very much, tried a couple new things this time, in addition to our usual favorites, everything was delish, the food, the presentation, the service, all excellent! Can’t wait to return!
Service was excellent. Food was excellent. We didn’t care for the techno background music.
We’ve been to Sushi Roku several times and the food is always great (Sea Bass sliders and Tuna Hanabi are must-haves)! This evening we went for New Years Eve and while the food and service were great, the atmosphere for NYE was a little disappointing (but that’s not the restaurant’s fault)! Highly recommend.
we had a great waiter that provided an excellent experience for any day of the year but he made our new year extra special.
