2nd time we’ve dined here this year. It’s expensive but it’s worth it for a special occasion. Food, service and atmosphere are top notch. Highly recommend!
Amazing views and delicious food. We were guests at the hotel so we started with drinks and appetizers at Edison’s, then moved to the lower terrace for a cheese board and drinks to watch the beginning of the sunset (best cheese board I’ve had in a while), and then finished with our reservation at Sunset Terrace. Our cheese board came out late so we carried it with us to our main reservation and that was clearly frowned upon even though we’d asked the second waitress if it was okay to take it with us. Our Sunset Terrace waitress was overly rude and dismissive as a result, but besides her attitude, the overall experience was a delight. The scallops were awesome as were the oysters, and they cooked their Brussels sprouts in something that made them sweet—so good! Overall, I would definitely go back but beware that the multiple terraces don’t work together.
The server was great and the food was delicious but it was so slow. We waited 1 1/2 hours before we got our entree and then waited at least 30 minutes on dessert. We were very disappointed
Romantic and beautiful scenery!
The food was delicious and our server was very attentive. While the view from our table of the mountains was spectacular, the sun glare made it very hot. It was hard to enjoy our meal.
Our waiter, Brian, was terrific, and the meal was wonderful.
Dined here many many times. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Food and service are top of the line
I have never been disappointed Ted in the food. The sunset Rest is the place I take first time visitors to Asheville. It was a little disappointing that our table was right next to the kitchen door. There were five of us so maybe the other four tops could not be set up for another chair with out being in the way. In coming again however I would ask that tables be put together to better enjoy the wonderful view, service and food
Amazing meal and incredible view. Service was excellent too!
Don’t sit in the sun as gets hot quickly sitting next to the rocks. Otherwise great views and food. Would recommend
Lovely except the sun was blistering and uncomfortable until it went down. We tried moving everyone down the table and it was annoying to have to do that. But the view is spectacular.
Too hot. Need shading on intense days
Sunset Terrace is our favorite venue
Thank you for dining with us, and may we wish you both a happy 43rd anniversary. Sunset Terrace is a covered, outdoor restaurant, and we apologize that the extreme heat we've had this August impacted your meal. We appreciate that Sunset Terrace is your favorite venue, but if you prefer climate controlled comforts on a hot summer's day, we would recommend visiting any of our other three signature restaurants, with indoor seating yet equally superior panoramic mountain views and culinary delights.
Great view and historic hotel.
Don’t go for the food.
Go for the experience.
Far better food in Asheville but not the view and history.
Yes most definitely ...the views are outstanding. It was an enchanting evening, the grounds and history are a must see. I would tell anyone going to Asheville they must go and experience this wonderful place.
Very good food and service. Resort prices. We did ask to be moved since they put us right next to a pillar and there were plenty of other tables, but they accommodated us.
The food was excellent. Had the lobster Cobb salad. It was a very warm day. I asked the hostess to seat us near a fan. She took us as far from a fan as we could get. I asked her to move us near a fan and we moved closer to one. The terrace was not full but hostess immediately put a party of 4 right next to us. When food came out only one salad was served. We had both ordered the same thing. Waited about 10 minutes before the second salad was served. Server said we would get biscuits and honey butter. They came about halfway thru the meal. We had coffee and the coffee was excellent. We had to ask for a refill. The birthday
Plate was lovely. Great place but service leaves something to be desired.
The view was beautiful. Service was good. The food was delicious but overpriced.
I would not recommend this restaurant if you are visiting Grove Park inn. They have a better options there such as the Blue Ridge Buffet, their breakfast buffet is amazing.
Id recommend you just use the sunset terrace cocktail lounge instead, or even better go to the left wing of the Inn and you can see the sunset over the mountains better there.
Sunset Terrace is a rip off for their prices, and especially since the food is mediocre at best, for how nice of a place it is, they should have much better food.
Our server Lex was excellent. Food was delicious especially the biscuits served at the beginning of the meal. Lovely evening!
We were in Asheville visiting for a long weekend, and completed our visit with dinner at the Omni Grove Park Inn, on the Sunset Terrace, overlooking the golf course and mountains. Beautiful , majestic location/ambience. Our server Mark was excellent - very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, as well as personable. The food was delicious, the setting really peaceful and beautiful - but also a good ‘vibe’ going - the guests all seem very enthralled to be dining in such a great atmosphere.
The Sunset Terrace is a wonderful outdoor restaurant with a spectacular view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The food is very good and the service is very good. There were times when I wished the service was more attentive, but overall it was good.
One of the best steaks I have ever had! Gorgeous view.
I would recommend the Sunset Terrace for the view and experience, but the food quality was not consistent. The tomato salad clearly had tomatoes which had been refrigerated, which drained them of all the flavor, the crab cake was so salty that we sent it back and I found a hair in my salad. On the positive side the prawns, sea bass and scallops were absolutely perfect! The service was excellent as well as the handling of our feedback.
The service here is second to none. I proposed during my dinner and the staff was outstanding. They were so accommodating and coordinated videotaping the proposal. Everything went perfect! Our waitress, Marcella, was exceptional. Her recommendations were spot on and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. You cannot get a better sunset dinner in Asheville, the view is spectacular.
As a vegan, I was thrilled to see ONE item I could eat: green curry coconut rice and veg....and it was spectacular!
Great views, excellent service, marginal menu - Lunch menu is rather limited. More vegetarian/fish/chicken options would likely increase overall appeal.
Food was good. Sides are not included and are pricey. We had to wait a while before we were seated even though we had a reservation- so we essentially missed the sunset. Our server Alex was excellent.
For the view and our server was excellent the food was ok not what I would expect for the price
Great place to have lunch. Loved the great out doors, will be back again.
A great dinner overlooking Asheville, NC - the Sunset Terrace at the Grove Park Inn is one of our favorites any time of the year but very special on our anniversary.
The food was slightly better than average and extremely over priced. The tables are far too close together and the noise level was unbearable. I love the Grove Park Inn but will NEVER dine at the Sunset Terrace again.
We have eaten at the Omni terrace several times. Always a great experience. We had elk, fish and our so. Had the kids meal. The view of is amazing. The food is always prepared excellently. The creme brûlée’s was wonderful. If you can get reservations at dusk this is the best. Our server was a little relaxed this time but still a wonderful experience.
Breathtaking view and beautiful ambience. Excellent service, steaks, and beverages. We went on a friend’s recommendation and we had a wonderful evening.
Best sea bass ever! Excellent service.
Excellent service with amazing food!
Our anniversary dinner was perfect! We were seated on the “front row,” with a sweeping view of the Grove Park terrace and mountain valley. Our server, Brian, was knowledgeable, personable, and attentive - excellent service! (Give that guy a raise!) The meal was just what we hoped; everything was delicious and prepared to order. And I think GPI has the best biscuits and honey butter in all of Asheville, which is saying something! From the champagne to the dessert to the complimentary chocolate “happy anniversary” course, we were thrilled with our evening and felt special on our special night. We highly recommend and will certainly return to this restaurant!
Very nice meal. Lex was great. Only suggestion is that you review your service model for someone’s birthday. Not sure why the App would ask and then you really do not do anything for someone ‘s Birthday. Something simple w a candle would be so inexpensive to provide. A lot of adults may not want to order dessert - so again something small but with a nice presentation would make most people smile and then they leave feeling nice about their birthday meal. Just a thought.
Great service, great view.
