Great opening night. Loved the scaled down menu and prices. Food quality and service were great. Will go back soon.
Excellent ambiance. Romantic and truly beautiful scenery toppled with great food and service. I will continue to be a guest.
Beautiful views & excellent kunch
Annie was our server and she took wonderful care of us on the patio. The atmosphere was relaxed. Her recommendations of the smoked pastrami and lobster salad were excellent. Our view looking west was stunning. Some of the colors have left for winter; however there was still so much color and beauty. We walked the hotel, enjoyed a champagne at one of the beautiful fireplaces. We checked out the Presidents Lounge, the wall of many guests, and the shops. This was not on our agenda until it was recommended by friends who had stayed the week prior. While we were only dining in, the next trip will include staying at the hotel, playing golf, and enjoying the spa.
The food, atmosphere, and service was excellent! My only complaint was the hostess. We had 11:15 reservations and got in line to check in at 11:05. We were told we couldn’t check in until 11:15 and would have to get back in line to check in at our reservation time. We got back in line and got back up to the hostess stand at 11:11 and she still wouldn’t seat us until 11:15. There were plenty of empty tables and I felt this was rude. Especially since they seated a table of 10 without reservations before us.
It had been along time since we ate here but it continues to be a great place to go to service was good food was good course the view was good we hope to make it back sometime and enjoy more of what the facility has to offer
All the wait staff were incredible, especially Tim. Ambience was top. Caesar salad and bread were excellent. Salmon was too salty and only decent
Beautiful view of Asheville mountains. Excellent food. Great service! Every time we go to Asheville we look forward to a meal at Sunset Terrace!
Marilyn in the bar was great; Diann our server was pleasant. Upon checking in with the hostess, we were told to sit back down and wait eight more minutes for our reservation. Found that to be a bit rude.
Scallops were great, however, my daughter’s filet was quite dry.
Brought out a very nice birthday dessert on the house.
An incredible restaurant with view that will stay with you forever.
I made lunch reservations at Sunset Terrace several days prior to my visit to the Inn. I was contacted a few hours before my reservation time and told that due to the weather our lunch would be moved indoors to the Edison restaurant. The weather was in the 50s under full sun. It was a beautiful Fall day! While I was at the Inn I noticed that the staff at Sunset Terrace was setting tables for dinner! What???? Also, guests sitting on the lower terrace outside were being served food and drinks. We were really disappointed that we were unable to dine outside and given a clearly dishonest explanation.
Thank you for reaching out, and we apologize that the closure impacted your dining experience. Sunset Terrace is an outdoor dining venue, weather permitting, and it was for this reason—due to winds exceeding 20 MPH—the Food & Beverage management team elected to serve lunch within EDISON, craft ales + kitchen on Friday. Sunset Terrace reopened for dinner when the temperatures rose to 54 degrees later that afternoon. We hope you will choose to dine with us again when we may better serve you.
I can't imagine a more perfect way to celebrate my birthday! The service, meal, and view were fabulous.
An excellent eatery! Food, service, spirits & atmosphere were great! Recommended!
One of my favorite restaurants. Great staff, view and menu.
Service was great, view from the terrace is wonderful. Wine is limited and a bit overpriced. Steaks were OK, but if you don’t like a lot of salt and or butter you might tell them to give you the hypertension version.
Though cloudy ad didn’t really see the sun set, Sunset Terrace was all I expected and more! Would definitely go back again if I am ever in the area again.
The setting is absolutely beautiful! I ordered my filet medium and it was delivered well done. In spite of that, the meat was delicious.
Kendall is the BEST sever!! Her positive and bubbly personality made our experience even better!!
Anniversary celebration every year!
Great view great food! I brought my sister she’s never been she totally enjoyed the view the drinks on the veranda and the sunset terrors for lunch.
Good food taste, a bit overpriced. But you pay here for the atmosphere which is outstanding. I would visit again for coffee and dessert.
Food just is NOT worth $200 for 2 people. The steak was FANTASTIC! The sides that you have to pay separately for we’re NOT we’re $8-$10.
Thank you for reaching out. We appreciate that you found the steak fantastic and have shared your pricing concerns with our Food and Beverage management team. We hope you will consider visiting us again soon.
Fabulous! Fantastic views, great service and delicious food. Lobster Cobb was on point. Very generous portion.
We have been plenty of times. Food & Atmosphere wonderful. All employees attentive except the worst waitress ever. Not friendly , weird looks , just no fun. We were a group of friends celebrating at Birthday. No special attention.
Tim was great! He made sure we were comfortable and gave great suggestions. We had a great night!
I would gladly recommend the Sunset Terrace at the Grove Park Inn. Unfortunately, our evening did not have clear weather so there was no view but that’s always a possibility and does not reflect on the resturant. The two main complaints I have are their desire to seat us by the kitchen door entrance and their reluctant store move us when I requested a table away from there as the resturant was mostly empty at 5:15pm. Also, they do not seat parties of four at or near the over look with out exception. Finally the wine requested was not available even though our server said it was their best seller and very popular. One would think they ought to have an extra supply on hand for that very reason. Be aware of their limited ability to please their patrons.
Good food and incredible views
Very pricey piece of fish. 5 oz at best for $50 seems extreme
Simply FABULOUS! Our anniversary dinner was perfect !
Excellent view. Great food.
Great place to eat- can’t beat the view at sunset!
Breathtaking view, friendly staff, fantastic food.
The Grove Park Inn is always a special place, and one that my wife and I look forward to visiting. The most recent occasion was lunch on the Sunset Terrace as we were passing through Asheville. The food did not disappoint. I would highly recommend their corn chowder for starters. The trout with mashed potatoes and vegetables was also delicious. If there was one disappointment it would be the slow service and lack of attentiveness. There was one span of 20 minutes that our server was nowhere to be found. Other than that, we enjoyed our brief visit to Grove Park Inn.
We had a fantastic lunch on the terrace overlooking the mountains full of fall foliage. My wife did not like the crab cake remoulade which was somewhat bitter with her sandwich but loved the butternut squash soup. I had the trout which was outstanding. A lovely afternoon.
Wonderful venue for a unique alfresco dining experience. Great view of the Asheville skyline and nearby mountains from almost any table there. Equipped with overhead fans and/or heaters for three-season dining. Interesting lunch menu, and good service from the waitstaff.
Lunch with a friend. Food was very good service was excellent. Was disappointed that there were no gluten free lunch options. The view of course was spectacular. Was happy to find the first three hours of parking were free.
Everyone in our party of 4 really enjoyed our dinner at Sunset Terrace. My wife and I can say the steaks were fantastic and highly recommended. Others in our party raved over the salmon and scallops. Service was a 4 out of 5 but given the relaxed nature of our dinner it was fine. The view of the mountains provided a lovely backdrop to dinner.
