Sunset Terrace - Omni Grove Park Inn

Day Valet: $25
The food and service were great. The view is outstanding. We're looking forward to our next visit.
Lovely great sunset lovely waitperson and good good
We were celebrating my 61st birthday. I was a little worried 8:45 pm reservation would be too late. But, we went down a little early and enjoyed a cocktail in the Presidents lounge (this was really where we saw the sunset.) Eli at the host desk certainly set the mood for the night of friendly professionalism. The view of the mountains at dusk and then the moon and stars - just stunning. We both ordered the Carolina Bison filet and the lobster Mac and cheese. Bottle of red .Absolutely delicious!
I tried 5 sauces all wonderful. Stephanie our server was excellent. Friendly , informative and fun but did not linger at the table. Had the Grove Parks version on Baked Alaska for dessert- who doesn’t love fire- worth every calorie.
Perfect place for lunch while staying at the Grove Park Inn
One of the best places in Asheville for a terrific meal and fantastic scenery
Unbeatable views from the terrace! Lots of good choices on a somewhat limited menu. Good cocktails and wine choices. Very well-prepared and tasty food, not inexpensive, but worth the price!
Great food and service. Beautiful view of Ashville. And the gluten free bread is the best!
First time visiting the Omni Grove Park Inn and we were not disappointed. We were celebrating our 4 year wedding anniversary and everyone was so welcoming. We stopped at the bar first before our reservation. The Basil Peach Gimlet was so good, the service was even better. Then we sat out on the Sunset Terrace and enjoyed the views while deciding on dinner. We got the Baked Brie for an appetizer and the Filet and Scallops for entrees. Everything was amazing and we loved our server. It took us a while to finish our bottle of wine but we never felt rushed to leave. Perfect anniversary evening :)
The entire staff was very good. The food was 5 star.
The view was absolutely stunning. The mountains had a totally blue effect.
Absolute best service, great food and incredible views
I arrived on time and they had my table waiting.
Darrin was taken care of me and had some nice suggestions for wine and lunch. Yummy.
Mr. Baldwin had his keen eye making sure everyone was taken care of to perfection!
Thank you, gentlemen, for making my afternoon so lovely.
Nice romantic setting to go on a date. The view is spectacular- especially during sunsets. Because of it's location, expect to pay top dollar for your dining- although it is well worth it for special occasions.
Made our 60th anniversary a memorable event. Our waiter was outstanding.
Shirley & Russ Rankin
Last time I was at the Grove Park Inn was 30 years ago and have always wanted to go back. Thought it would be the perfect place for my friend to celebrate her 65th birthday. It was indeed!
Our waiter was not familiar with the menu. We had to return the dessert because the meringue was not finished properly with flambé. Wine is overpriced. Starter and entree were very good. I would say our experience was okay but was not consistently good considering the prices.
Gorgeous Blue Ridge views! My filet mignon was excellent!
This restaurant was outstanding. Service was great and the food was excellent. The experience of eating outside with a magnificent view was unbelievable. It was very romantic but have to say it was somewhat pricey. Would definitely recommend that you experience this fine dining establishment.
Before starting, please know that I typically never take the time to write reviews. My wife and I had an amazing dinner experience. Our waiter went out of his way to explain the menu along with their gluten free options to my wife. In fact, their baker made some gluten free muffins specifically for her that were out of this world and made our night that much better. On top of the excellent service, our food was 10 out of 10. Just the overall view overlooking Asheville and the Smokey Mountains from this restaurant would be enough for most to give it 5 stars, but their staff and food make it something quite special and not to be missed. Thank you Sunset Terrace for creating an amazing memory for me and my wife.
Best dining experience ever! What a view, a must do!
Always a pleasure to visit and eat at the Grove Park Inn. Awesome atmosphere, it’s a different world and a nice break from the normal grind.
Expectations were not met with service or quality of the food. Disappointed!
Everything was fine except the service. We waited almost an hour for a sandwich. And we also had to wait sometime for the server to bring our check and return the bill.
Very good, can't beat the ambiance. The food is very good, but not what it used to be: which was great.
Criticism: seated 30 min after reservation time—they did not summon us, we finally went to hostess desk.
Food was some good; some bad. Salmon was supposed to be cooked medium, but was raw and still cool in thickest part. Twice baked loaded potato was soggy and disappointing—loaded with nothing.
The views of the mountains were beautiful. However, we expected the name of the restaurant to be "true", meaning we expected the "Sunset Terrace" to actually have views of the sunset. However the west wing of the hotel actually blocks the sunset. We knew the restaurant was expensive, but expected the ambiance would be well worth it for our anniversary. Not completely satisfied in the overall "value".
Three of us met for a lovely lunch at the terrace. We are visiting Asheville for an extended period and we looked forward to a beautiful view on a beautiful day after serious downpours the prior week. The lunch choices were very nice and well prepared. We had soup, lobster Cobb salad, fried green tomato capers and bolts. They also serve proseeco in a split bottle which made for a nice priced leisurely cocktail overlooking the view. Service was pleasant and the food was quite good. You can’t beat the view. Worth the visit.
Beautiful day on Tuesday, June 5th to welcome friends from Atlanta for a delicious lunch along with a spectacular view.
Girl friend lunch on a beautiful Carolina Blue day. Couldn’t have been better!
Loved it. Beautiful views of Asheville. Staff outstanding especially Kristi.
The scenic vistas available from your table were breathtaking. We had dinner at sunset and it was romantic and unforgettable. The steak and bison entrees were cooked to our preferences with perfection and were delicious. The only disappointment was dessert. When you have a creme brulee on the menu, make sure that is what you serve. I ordered the creme brulee and it looked more like a bread pudding.
Outstanding dinner and service appreciated by all. I can not remember the name of our waitress but she was awesome. Very cheerful, prompt, and knew her product.
We did not have a good experience. The kitchen was backed up. The reservation time could not be honored. The request for a seat near the view was not honored. We were sat at a table that was in between other tables and the seating is VERY TIGHT. This meant that there were servers constantly with their backs or rear ends in our eyeline the entire night.
Service was incredibly slow.
Courses were served out of order.
The main course, which was to be split, was not. It was served on one plate and no companion plate was provided.
When I informed the hostess of what happened - and I did this because I wanted to pay the bill and I did not want the bill being presented to the table; I needed to make sure that this was not botched, the chef did ask for details and wanted to make it right. He listened and was genuinely interested in getting improvement. The hostess was not equipped to hear complaints. She was simply panicked, overwhelmed, incapable of listening to anything at all and wanted to defer to a manager. The manager made excuses. Let me repeat that: the manager made excuses - they were not good excuses; just excuses. I listened to him with empathy and then gave him more information and feedback. He comp'ed the meal and offered cocktails - and I appreciate that gesture. I did not want that and it was not my reason for offering the feedback. I do hope that they take the feedback and make some changes. That being said, we all have an off night once in a while.
This was not a good dining experience. The food, itself, was not bad. The best part of the meal was, actually, the biscuits - the bread offering.
I love the resort and the spa. This, however, was not adequate service and was not a dining experience I would recommend to others.
There are better dining options at Grove Park for special occasions. If we had to do it again, I'd simply snack and order cocktails at their "first come first served" area right below the restaurant dining seating. Food was just ok, nothing spectacular.
We had a wonderful experience and the food was amazing, only downfall was a screaming child while we tried to enjoy our meal. I understand it's a family setting but when you are paying that much for food it's nice to just relax and unwind. By the end of our meal we felt like we were on pins and needles because the child was uncontrollable. I even saw the wait staff make a gesture and roll her eyes because it went on for so long. It really ruined the whole meal.
This place had phenomenal food and an incredible view. The resort in itself is a masterpiece. Although pricey. It was worth every penny.
Food was great. Service was wonderful. Nature cooperated with a beautiful sky. You can't actually see the sun set, as the Vanderbilt Wing of the hotel blocks that view (at least in early June), but the changing colors of the sky were spectacular! And the mountain air kept the temperature perfectly cool, comfortable for our 8:30 PM dinner reservation.
Wonderful place for a special occasion. The service was outstanding. Delicious food, rather pricey but what a view!
Food was great. But it was drizzling outside and then the rain moved in so we didn't get to have a meal with the sun setting which was our goal. But the service was good and the price was expensive but well worth it because of the beautiful setting.
Excellent experience. Great food and staff was very friendly. Expensive but worth it.
