Sunset Terrace - Omni Grove Park Inn

Relaxing. Lovely view.
We ate on the sunset Terrance for a dinner tonight on our honeymoon. The food was amazing and our waiter went above and beyond to make our night special!
The food was outstanding. The views were incredible. We were here once before during our honeymoon and loved it then too. This sunset was fabulous. The service was not what we experienced before. I am not sure if the waiter had too many tables or just not on his game for the night. For the price we paid, which is on the high end, service should match the price. Otherwise, a great great place to go for dinner. Plan ahead so you can book it around the sunset.
Lovely location, view of downtown Asheville & mountains. Slow service. Long wait for food to be served. Had to track down waitress to get the bill.
Went based on a friend’s recommendation. Not what we were expecting. Very casual. Limited menu.
Excellent service. Accommodating server. Thank you.
Service and food could use an update. We dined here twice during our stay at The Grove Park Inn and found wait staff were perfunctory at best. First night we waited nearly an hour for our main courses with no apology from the waitress. The views and setting are lovely but they need to improve staff training.
This was a great meal from start to finish. We had the crab cake and bacon as an appetizer, filet and chicken breast as entrees, and the layer chocolate cake for dessert. The chicken was good but I would probably not order it again. My husbands steak was so good I will get the next time. The cake was HUGE!!! We could not finish all of it after our food. We plan on going again before we head home.
Had a wonderful experience for our first wedding anniversary! The steaks were perfect and the crab meat addition was amazing! The view is absolutely breathtaking.
table was not ready at reservation time - had to wait about 30 minutes - which is somewhat frustrating. Other than that, food was good and atmosphere was awesome. Prices are a little high for what you get (for example - steaks have ruth’s Chris price tag but not ruth’s Chris quality - but still very good)
Surprised at $15 valet fee. Had tipped valet Parker $5, and planned to tip valet deliver driver $5 but hesitated, yet did after assurance he would mention. Valet Desk said "confirmation" mentions valet fee, but Open Door did not! You should. Thanks.
This was a special occasion, reunion for 4 Military Veterans: Major and 2 Lt Col's. Told them when I booked and than when we got there. They flew in from AZ. Was never acknowledged in any manner.
Service was very slow.
For Over $100 for 3 meals, I expected more.
Better experience when it was under old owners/Managers
Everthing, with two exceptions was excellent. Beautiful view, wait service was outstanding. Food delicious. Our table top was so sticky with old varnish and ??? that my fork was literally stuck to it. We saw other tab les that looked the same so we did not ask for a change. There was competing music. There was music piped in and live music from the lobby bar areaa.
A beautiful experience for us, highlighted by the great view and our great waitress, Lex. Very memorable.
Absolutely incredible experience! The food was beyond delicious, the service was exceptional and they made it the perfect birthday celebration!
Food was good but not comparable to Capital Grille, Ruth Chris etc. over priced for quality
We were celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary at Sunset Terrace. We spent our honeymoon at Grove Park Inn and always love revisiting and seeing the changes. The food was very good and the ambience was fabulous.
Excellent meal for our anniversary. Our waitress, Blake, was excellent and personable. Loved everything about the evening.
Words can't describe the beauty of Grove Park Inn and having experience sunset at this gem of an inn! Pictures only show a mere reflection of what one experiences in the terrace as the sun sets across the horizon and the excitement of the Sunset gong bell, summoning all in neighboring rooms and participants to bask in the glory of God's natural environment. We can't wait to return!
Our dining experience was not exceptional & extremely disappointing. I guess we had higher expectations since the restaurant is part of the hotel. We dined at 8:30 pm and ordered wine, apps & entrees. We waited for about 20 minutes before our salads arrived, one of which was the wrong salad & still no bottle of wine. When our wine arrived, guess what? It was the wrong bottle as well. I can overlook server errors but not once did she apologize for the wait or her errors. When entrees arrived, I believe the person who serves it should not be asking who ordered what, especially the caliber of this hotel/restaurant. This person assumed my husband ordered the porterhouse and I ordered the chicken. Don’t make assumptions people, especially when I’m paying for the meal! The steak was delicious but I had to ask for more candles on the table so I could see what I was eating. No one wants to eat grissle. As the plates were cleared, the tables needed to be wiped of food crumbs and condensation from water glasses (no table cloth or cocktail napkins). The server finally wiped up the food in front of my spouse but ignored the pools of water on my side. Attention to detail makes a great server and when we are charged high prices, the level of service needs to be up there as well. I would NOT recommend wasting your money when the level of service is poor. Go downtown (Cúrate-Spanish Tapas was a great choice) or next door to The Golden Fleece (locally owned Greek/Mediterranean). There are a ton of wonderful restaurants nearby that we took a 7 minute Uber ride to ($7-$8 for two ppl). Worth your hard earned money!
One of the most wonderful restaurants. Food is excellent. Service is bar none. View incredible.
This is a pricey restaurant, but just right for special occasions! The food was delicious and the server was excellent. We were able to sit right at the edge of the room overlooking the valley, Asheville and distant mountains as the sun set!
Very romantic dinner with exquisite views off the terrace. Plan a little later dinner...after sunset as the sun beams in and gets very hot!
What a gorgeous view. The service was wonderful, and the recommended choices tasted great. The flies were annoying, but we did ask to sit outside. The sun - prior to sunset - proved to be very hot, although those in the shade had an enjoyable atmosphere.
The hotel itself is beautiful, and the view is unparalleled. Unfortunately, the food left much to be desired. The temperature of our steak was medium well (if not a bit over), despite two attempts to get it to a decent medium rare.
The food was delicious and the view was breathtaking. I was disappointed in our service, however. We had a reservation for 7:45 and arrived at 7:25. We were told to come back and check on them in 20 minutes while they got our table ready. When we went over at 7:45 (20 minutes later) we found out that our table was given away. We were then told we needed to wait another 10 minutes. After 7 minutes, my fiance went over to ask what was going on, since we scheduled our dinner to be during sunset - only then did they immediately have a table. No one came to apologize for this. Our waiter was very rushed with us as well, so it felt like he was trying to turn a table quickly. At one point he even left our table when I was in the middle of a sentence. For a customer paying $300 for a gourmet meal, I expected to be treated much better.
Best Shellfish tower ever. Service was phenomenal. Andre is the man!
This is such a special place. We enjoyed watching a lovely sunset over the mountains while enjoying beautifully prepared local foods with perfect service. Discovered a great wine - Conundrum. Can't wait to go back.
Beautiful atmosphere and highest quality food and drinks. Was a great way to celebrate our anniversary.
First time visiting Asheville, booked a reservation based on previous reviews and was not disappointed! The service was great as was the table I was seated at since I was dining alone. Had the scallops with risotto...delicious! And the view, what can I say the Blue Ridge Mountains were stunning that evening!
Great place to celebrate special occasions. Loved the food! Atmosphere was fantastic.
Wife and I are from Atlanta. We picked this spot randomly as a nice romantic dinner. The atmosphere/food/service was amazing. I highly recommend that anyone schedules a reservation , as when we got there , the place was already on a 2 hour wait , and I can see why. We started off with a drink each and the Baked Brie(amazing). I had the Bison Filet and my wife had a chicken dish(cant remember the name). Both were outstanding , we ordered the twice baked potato and lobster mac n cheese to share as our sides. People may say it's a bit pricey , but you get what you pay for. Our server was Lex and she was very knowledgeable of the food there as well as places to go see after our meal. We took her advice and went to a few other local spots/breweries. We will definitely go again , but may wait until around fall/winter to go for a change of scenery.
This go round wasn’t the best actually. We love coming to the restaurant when we come to town. However we normally come for lunch so the food wasn’t the best this time.
Loved every minut of it. Had a girlfriend day out and it was awesome. Will definitely be back.
It was very very dark. There should be some more lights for when the sun goes down. It was a cloudy evening but still pretty. Just too dark. It was also expensive. I had Maine scallops and my daughter had the Faroe Island salmon. We both liked our food. It was prepared well. However, our favorite restaurant from our trip to Asheville was 1/2 the price of the Sunset Terrace restaurant. So definitely over priced!
Pre-Frozen, room temperature shrimp appetizer; warm martini and warmer Cosmo, med-rare tuna was raw, request for chopped wedge salad was Unchopped, no salt or pepper on the table. Otherwise it was great!
Anytime I have business guests visit Asheville, I take them to the Sunset Terrace. Great view, always impresses (pricey, of course!), good and creative food and excellent service.
Absolutely amazing! The bone marrow appetizer is not to be missed. The service was top notch. Our server asked us if it was a special occasion, and when we told him it was our anniversary he brought us complimentary macaroons from the kitchen. Remember to dress for the weather--I wore a skirt and by the end of the night I was cold.
Delectable meal expertly served in breathtakingly beautiful setting.
Delightful vistas of the Asheville area and comfortable surroundings. Service by Lex was prompt and food generally delicious. The crab cake had a fishy taste but entrees and dessert were well received by all.
