Sunset Terrace - Omni Grove Park Inn
Reservations are recommended.
Day Valet: $25
Food was merely ok but scenery great. Had reservations and found the constant instant messaging absolutely obnoxious.
Unfortunately we did NOT have a good experience at this restaurant! I highly recommend you go for a drink at the bar around sunset to see the amazing architecture and outstanding scenery! However, if you have any food allergies and/or sit at the wrong table you will be terribly disappointed! Our table was by the staircase and therefore had loads of people blocking our view and taking pics around sunset! Very disappointed that restaurant does nothing about this! Also my husband is gluten and dairy free, but our waiter, Brad, never seemed to discuss it with anyone and just eliminated almost all options for my husband! Something as simple as asking if they had rice to substitute for orzo with the scallops and was told no! It was my birthday and I put it on the reservation and no one even acknowledged it! I could go on and on...but suffice to say the staff needs training in how to handle fine dining and unfortunately we had a terrible evening and can not recommend this restaurant...except for the view!
We ordered the bone in ribeye. Bad choice. Fatty and grisle. Crab cake as an appetizer, not impressed. Server was very good.
We were attending a conference and had local friends join us for lunch! Amazing! Butternut squash soup was delicious! Derrick our server was perfect! The view of the mountains from our table breathtaking! We enjoy GPI every year and it does not disappoint!
Great food and atmosphere.
Beautiful place for lunch or dinner. The view is incredible, if you can go near sunset, it's spectacular!!
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. We were there for lunch, but have been there at sunset before.
We ordered a bone end 22 ounce rib eye to share. We asked for it medium rare. It cam medium. The lady who served us just kept trying to explain how that happens, but not to our satisfaction. They did give us an ice cream dish for dessert.
The tables were so close together that it made it uncomfortable to talk, and the food was not very good. This is the second time I have been there and the food was not very good both times. A nice location and view, but that's about it.
Great food. Wonderful view.
Menu is too limited. Server was late with food with every course. After she told us that there were 2 - 3 tables ahead of us to be served, I told her that we were pressed for time. Amazingly enough our dinner came out within a few minutes.
The Maitre D was rude and unbending.
The servers gave different prices for the specials to different people. The specials were also on the menue. Upgrade the tables.
When I spend $100.00/plate I expect service, tableclothes, clean silverware, clean glasses and nice tables. Also, tables were too close front to back. I couldn't lean back without touching the other person's head.
Food was excellent.
Love your new chef. Waiter couldn’t have been better.
Place was swarming with bees! Couldn't eat, left early, took food home. Terrible
I wasn’t impressed with the quality of food vs the price point, honestly disappointed. We had dinner at Red Stag the night before and filet (cooked medium) was cooked to perfection, could be cut with a fork which wasn’t the case with filet at Sunset Grill. I enjoy The Grove Park Inn but won’t go back for dinner during next visit to Asheville.
Absolutely amazing dinner for our anniversary. We were originally told that the baked alaska was not available, but upon finding out that it was our anniversary and that this was a dish we had waited a year for, our server was understanding and said she would ask the chef. Because of the thoughtful of our server and chef, we were able to enjoy the delicious baked alaska that completed our evening.
The Sunset Terrace is a beautiful place to celebrate our anniversary and special night. Will definitely be back next year!
We were visiting Asheville and a friend recommended the Sunset Terrace for the view. I found the ambiance of the Terrace comfortable and scenic. The service was top notch. After dinner we sat in rocking chairs in the lobby by one of those very large fireplaces with glasses of wine. With all the wood and stonework the atmosphere was 'lodge-like' and upscale which is what I have come to expect from an Omni hotel. I will return!
Always a beautiful setting. Very good food but as always expensive. You’re paying for the ambiance and view.
Beautiful views - bring a sweater. We have a wonderful evening on the Sunset Terrace for my birthday dinner.
This is where I proposed to my wife. It’s our special spot to go back every year. The views, the food the service, second to none. A must dining spot when in Asheville.
Unruly, drunk person yelling and swearing at the top of his lungs in the restaurant. Very upsetting and disruptive to other diners. Had to be escorted out. Put a damper on the dining experience.
The best part of the dinner was the view. It was gorgeous. Perfect at sunset. Otherwise it is an overpriced steakhouse. Food was good, but you could have drinks on the terrace then eat elsewhere and save lots of money.
Seating was too close - couldn't hold a conversation because people next to us were so close and we felt a part of their conversation. Kimberly was a great waitress
We eat here when we are in town. Our table was disappointing as we had indicated there was a birthday
I like the restaurant but just because you have a reservation don't expect to be seated. Expect a good wait regardless
Was disappointed. Overpriced for just average food. Our server had far too many tables. Salad came out with zero dressing on it. Second Cosmo didn’t have a lime in it, for 15.00 give me a fresh lime slice! View was pretty. But really disappointed.
Just an OK experience. But, I will not be going back anytime soon! The view was the best thing in my opinion. Food came out warm, like it had sat for a few before it came to us. For the money we paid it was disappointing.
Excellent server and food
Overrated: Would recommend name change to Terrace, there is very little or no sunset view here. The food was not cooked properly (my sea bass was less than warm and mostly inedible). The service was less than average at best. Can not recommend, lot's of other good choices in town.
Food quality was fair and we thought over priced. We had higher expectations and thought it was overrated but needed to satisfy our curiosity based upon recommendations that it was a must visit while in the area.
Sitting on this terrace is a very special treat. I asked for the trout that was on the lunch menu and not on the dinner, they checked with the chef and it was not a problem. So happy...the veggies were done great. The yellow fin tuna was great as well..
Going back for lunch tomorrow!
Beautiful location even at night with the view to the mountains. The food was great and the service even better !
Beautiful view and excellent food!
Over cooked porterhouse but they corrected with add on sides.
Our waiter could not be more happy to have us finish our food so he could be let off his shift. It was disappointing as my girlfriend and I were celebrating finishing boards for dental school as well as vacationing in Asheville. The sunset terrace was an extreme letdown and a disappointing start to our trip. Could’ve spent less money at another establishment with better service. Not a good look for the GPI. Great food, service was despicable.
Initially seated near large & extremely loud party - relocated when requested. Food was okay, but not the quality of past visits. Service was very congenial but extremely
s-l-o-w. We waited over an hour from time of order till the meal was served. View - as always - was lovely.
This is certainly not a five star dining experience anymore. Tee shirts, cutoffs, and flip flops were the norm. My blazer was the only jacket on a male. Very loud and raucous - hard to hear dining partner. Our waitress mostly ignored us and other diners around us. Presented me with a bill that was obviously wrong and was upset when questioned. Sunset Terrace has been going downhill since Omni acquisition- now not worth the very overpriced menu. I have spent my birthday here for last ten years always looking forward to dinner on the Terrace. Probably my last visit!
This is a quality location with quality service and quality food that is comfortable for any occasion.
Perfect night with my lady. I ordered flowers ahead of time for her and they had them placed beautifully and waiting on the table for us. Food was exquisite and service is unmatched. We had 2 apps, Ribeye Oscar, and 2 desserts. Martinis were perfect as well as a nice port (20 year) to end the night with our dessert. Go there!
Gorgeous view, very friendly service, good menu..a very special place!!
