Excellent. Breathtaking views. Food was outstanding.
Beautiful setting. Delicious food but very small portion for the price. Really you are paying for the view and the setting, it is an unbelievable view. Our waiter was great, service was perfect, but prices a bit too much. Probably a one time visit place.
Can’t beat the service nor the ambiance. The NY Strip is excellent, we also ordered salmon which was ok, and pork chop which was flavorful but very fatty. Kids menu was perfect. We kind of expected more food choices with a better sides selection.
Our first visit was last October and it was absolutely amazing, so not sure why quality wasn’t as good.
This was my first time at the Sunset Terrace. The food was phenomenal. We timed our reservation for sunset of course and the view was stunning.
Derrick was AMAZING! He explained what everything was that we asked and gave all around the best service I’ve ever had.
Perfect soup, fresh trout and touch of wine on a chilly day
It was my husbands 45th Birthday & we went to the Biltmore. This restaurant was recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint. There is no other sunset like watching it from the The Sunset Terrace. Amazing food, amazing views. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Andre was excellent! We were having a girls weekend the evening was great the food was delicious. The sunset was beautiful.
Always a great spot to eat, drink and just walk around to enjoy the sights. Beautiful back drop with the Asheville mountains and golf course; this is a good spot for any occasion. The Grove Park hotel has been a tourist spot for many years and never seems to fail. Customer service is top notch, and from the time you enter the hotel to the time you leave, you'll be pleased on all fronts.
We had the absolute best waiter. He was so knowledgeable and friendly. We cannot wait to eat here again!
The food was delicious. I loved the setting and the view. Beauty all around! On another trip I would love to stay at the Omni Grove Park Inn.
Not a very good menu. But ambiance and scenery made it worthwhile
We had reservations on the Sunset Terrace for a late lunch and our waiter was sure to tell us that it was the end of lunch service.... wait- didn’t I make a reservation? The baked Brie we ordered was beyond melted- it was a a puddle of oil. The burger and crab cake sandwich were both really good though. The view and ambiance are amazing but the service was so disappointing.
Decided to visit the Grove Park Inn during their opening Christmas weekend. We were a bit worried about eating on the Sunset Terrace due to chilly temperatures. The restaurant called to ensure we wanted to keep the reservation but I was pleasantly surprised when they mentioned that they had heaters and blankets. Derrick was absolutely phenomenal! Some of the beet service we’ve both ever had. Derrick’s suggestions were right on point (wine, apps, and food!) and he made us feel extremely welcome and special on our anniversary. The food was divine and we’re already talking about when to come back in the spring!
Center cut filet was delicious!
Beautiful setting overlooking the property. The food and service were great!
Had a wonderful dinner on the terrace, kept warm by heaters above and the offer of blankets. Food is pricey but good as is the wine. We enjoyed the green salad, pork chop, and the tuna all grilled to order. Thanks to Diane for taking such good care of us.
Beautiful location and exquisite cuisine. Atmosphere somewhat diminished by the presence of a constant swarm of bees and wasps. One crash landed in my salad and died in the vinaigrette. Also a little noisy but not overly so for a busy outdoor venue. The hotel is stunning and worth a look.
Wonderful lunch experience with old friends from out of town! Sunny or not, always a beautiful view from the Terrace.
The view was spectacular. Chilly evening, but lots of unobtrusive heaters made the porch war and cozy. The wine list had plenty to choose from and bison steak was tender and delicious. We were lucky to be there at the peak of autumn color. I look forward to going back again.
Tables weren't cleared and reset. properly. We had to ask for silverware and napkins. Salad was fresh but lobster had no flavor - I was expecting "sweet" flavor.
The overall experience was great. The rib-eye, wedge salad, and lobster mac and cheese were excellent. The lobster tail was a little tough, and the seared tuna was good but not great. Overall, I would definitely recommend dining here as the view is truly special, and the food is very good; however, consider ordering steak rather than seafood.
So special that we had lunch on the terrace 2 days in a row.
I always come back to eat at the Sunset Terrace for the fabulous crab cakes and lobster macaroni, which I always comment "are the best I have ever eaten". However, this time I wouldn't say that! The view definitely topped the food this time.
View was amazing! The food was excellent. Loved all the fire places!
Had Dinner Saturday night Nov. 3rd. 17th Anniversary. The view was beautiful, and we enjoyed watching the sun go down behind the mountains. The food was enjoyable until the desert. My wife and I ordered the Crème Brulee and was very disappointed. It came in a bowl, had very little crust on it, and had peaches on top. Instead of vanilla custard, they used rice pudding. I don't mind chefs making some small changes to recipes to make them their own, but when you make this much of a change, you need to call it something else. If I had known it was going to be like this I would not have ordered it. The waiter was kind enough to take it off our bill. This will not stop me from going back again.
Most Beautiful lunch setting! Mountains and leaves at their peak! Food was delicious too!
Every attention to detail was taken are of....I made special requests for a friend ghat had never been to the GPI and she was so taken aback by the special requests honored. We had a delicious meal (as always) the Tuna appetizer and then Trout entree. Fresh Fresh Fresh.
We went here just to know this off our bucket list. This place is worth the trip for the view.....however, that is about it. The food was average at best and the cost is way too much and in my opinion not worth it. I would recommend going here for a coffee to enjoy the view..but would not recommend getting a second mortgage on your house to come here for dinner.
Weather A little cool..service slow..tables on left and front arrived after, served significantly before..waiter”your steaks “resting”..I’m watching now”?chop served modestly warm..great views..ambiance
BD, too highly priced. Not enough of heat on rainy cool nite.
It was a slightly rainy, chilly afternoon but the beauty of the fall leaves on the landscaping below helped take away the gloom of the day. The heat units above kept us warm enough. We both had a wonderful butternut soup, biscuits and then split one of the best pastrami sandwiches ever- so full, we couldn't eat a dinner that night!
Sunset Terrace Restaurant is located in the historic Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC. The view of mountains & fall foliage was spectacular during our visit. Our wait staff was very attentive to our needs. The food is basic with a good variety of options.
Food, service and atmosphere were fantastic
Fantastic view, but my vegan dinner was more of an appetizer, a sliced beet and a few carrots for $24. I thought the amaranth listed with the dish would provide the grain, but none was on my plate. When I asked the waiter, he said the cook must have forgot. He then brought me about a tablespoon of amaranth leaves.
Unbelievable food and unforgettable views! The Grove Park is a phenomenal hotel and spa but if you’re just visiting the area and want a great meal with cozy ambience, just go up there to look around, learn the history of the hotel and chill. It lends itself to that.
This place was everything and more than I’d expected. The restaurant setting is absolutely beautiful, the food excellent, our waiter was amazing. I just don’t have anything negative to say. 5 Stars!
We were lucky enough to have a fabulous sunset with our meal. Everyone in our party order a different dish and each were outstanding. We enjoyed salmon, ribeye, and filet mignon which were all perfectly cooked to our requests. We stayed several hours and enjoyed a couple of different bars as well. Edison has a draft cider that is the best we have experienced and we highly recommend. We are already planning to go back and stay in the hotel to enjoy the food, bars, and definitely the spa!
