At the Summit, you’re in for a refreshing dining experience with a view that’s almost as spectacular as the food itself! We are offering The Summit Food & Spirit menu that includes appetizers, pizzas and sandwiches. Dinner specials will be available after 5pm on Friday, Saturday & Sunday. We do ask that you make an advance reservation. Please be aware that the menu and seating options are subject to change. Please note that outdoor seating is not guaranteed. My husband and I stayed at Chestnut Mountain Resort for a few nights. I made a reservation at their restaurant for his birthday. We arrived to our reservation 5-10 minutes early. We waited at the hostess desk to be seated. We had multiple employees look right at us; we even saw what looked like a manager, calling over an employee and talked to them, while both of them kept looking over at us. Yet no one greeted us or came up to us or asked us if we needed anything. There were no other guests at the restaurant, so they weren't busy with anyone. The restaurant was completely empty. After waiting for 15 minutes or more, we walked away and went elsewhere. Very disappointed in this experience. Will not be returning.

Food is mediocre and overpriced. Nice view of the Mississippi. Really the only thing to recommend about this restaurant. In the evening there is no shade and the sun is right in your eyes for at least two of the people at the table. Not likely to go back.

We ate on the outside deck overlooking the Mississippi River. It was quite warm outside, but the restaurant provides huge umbrellas to keep the heat down. The view from the deck is breathtaking, considering it's in Illinois. We ate, as we usually do, the Walleye fingers. They are breaded and served with a Wasabi Cucumber sauce - excellent. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone - just when I'm not there so I can get a seat.

Went for our 10 year anniversary. Made reservations 2 weeks prior. We were sat on the sidewalk outside where people were walking around us or within our bubble. Couldn’t even have a conversation without having some kid come running through us. Service was terrible, server never came back to check on us for drinks or see how our food was. She came to bring us our bill and we wanted dessert, that was a bad decision too. If you want frozen then thawed food for a good penny, then this is your place. Food was not good for how much we paid. The only good thing about this place was the fall colors on the trees. Super disappointed. I understand COVID has made things difficult, but the least they could’ve done is put us up on the patio overlook so we weren’t interrupted or felt like we were in the middle of chaos.

First time to the Galena area and this restaurant was well rated by "yelp." We decided to eat at the bar as the outside dining was uncomfortable due to the wind. So we are sports people and the bar was outstanding for anyone who wanted to watch sports. At least 6 TV's and big TV's. Unfortunately the bartend, I will cal "J", was the most unattentive server I have had. More interested in washing glasses, leaving the bar for whatever reason, my wife and I sat there for 20 minutes before we had to summon him to take an order. The "chips" came out cold, the "wedge salad" wasn't very good.....not much bacon and dressing. Never got a "how are things, folks?" Etc. First time in many years that we walked out with a $0 tip. And I usually tip 20-25%. Too bad. I think it is a nice place, but our experience was sub par at best.

We waited 30 minutes for our server to show. The manager did pay for our first drinks. But then the food came and neither of us enjoyed our meals. Food was cold and the brisket tasted like cold roast beef with a barbeque sauce that hadn't been stirred in hours. The shrimp tacos were also cold and there was a mound of what tasted like parmesan cheese on top.

Walleye was perfect, catfish ok. Service excellent. Great view on Mississippi river from terrace. Highly recommended!
