Sundried Tomato American Bistro - San Juan Capistrano
Let Sundried Tomato Host your event! Celebrate with us for your next baby shower, birthday, rehearsal dinner or any other special occasion.
We look forward to serving you soon.
With the exception of the wilting Caesar Salad, the food was excellent. The wait staff was particularly attentive to two of our party who needed to avoid the stairs in the restaurant.
The chicken pot pie is a winner! Great service and excellent spot to grab something to eat when you're in San Juan Capistrano. The recipes taste great and add a twist to some of your typical food choices.
Sat night, 1/19/2019 6:45. Food was good, usually is. Service was almost non existent. Never could find the/a server. Had to ask for utensils and napkins after the food was served, etc. Very expensive given all that.
Didn’t have enough servers for the full house they had. Our server was nice and adept, but with too many tables to service and non-exists bus boys, she was overwhelmed. The overall service was poor. Unfortunately, my lamb chops were not edible. Asked for mgr, who apologized and took lamb off bill.
Incredible thoughtful service! We appreciated the birthday treat! Food was also delicious as always.
A little hard to find. Food was good but menu a bit limited. I had a pot pie, my wife a pastrami sandwich - both $20.
The server kept coming back to ask what we asked for on a few different occasions throughout the evening even though he wrote it down. After asking for something or ordering an item weather it be from the drink menu, appetizer, entrée, or side the server would then take other order and have conversations with other tables without putting our order in... timing was very bad! When we did get our items they were brought to us by other staff... good team work however why were we the pushed aside table for the evening. Both entrées were, “not great”...
The pasta-less Lasagna was burnt on the bottom. My husbands fillet mignon steak was unevenly cooked with a lot of gristle. He had ordered medium -pink through out... it was grey in spots. Lastly the cake topper was the lobster. It was sadly rubbery an over cooked on one side and slimy on the other. Not sure if we are going to give this spot another another chance.
The steak was unbelievably tender and tasty. Soup and sandwich we delish - and enough that my wife took home half of her sandwich and enjoyed it for lunch the next day (yes, it held up nicely). Service was just right and very attentive without being too attentive.
Excellent brunch and lunch menu. Service very good and great variety of dishes
We have dined at Sundried Tomato for at least ten years. It is a very good restaurant for lunch and we enjoy the great menu variety, comfortable atmosphere and good service.
As always. Great food, great service!
Very friendly and attentive staff. Bar drinks and bartender outstanding!
Christmas Eve dinner with family - lovely experience start to finish.
Fabulous dinner date with my hubby! The service was prompt but not rushed. The food was so yummy and hot!!!
Awesome food and service! Love the Sundried Tomato!
This is the fourth or fifth time we have been to this little gem. Found it in Laguna Beach, then lost it and found again in San Juan Capistrano. YUM! Love the olive tapenade & goat cheese & pesto appetizer. Soups are delicious. Lavender lemon drop martini, thumbs up! We usually have the sampler for dinner as we are already full of appetizers. Service is excellent. All staff very friendly & accomodating. Will be back. It is a favorite.
Seats not comfortable and cool in restaurant. Pricey
We had the “Happy hour menu “which was good , but service was seriously slow and it was SO LOUD we couldn’t hear each other talk . We had to wait for water and our & drinks .
Awesome artichoke. Best tomato soup ever. Truffle fries yum.
I am a big fan of lamb chops and have tasted all near and far, and can safely say that Sundried has the best. Be sure to order an extra chop, drink a nice red wine and let the chef cook at the temp that they know as the best.
We always enjoy our visits to Sundried Tomato. Food does not disappoint.
Nice venue with great menu and excellent service. They have live sports at the bar as well.
A wonderful way to do Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving dinner at Sundried was a great idea. The food was wonderful, great service and made for a relaxing celebration. Thank you.
Food was good, our service was inexperienced & very slow.
Was a very comfortable scene with nice outside seating, polite servers and excellent food. The Artichoke was wonderful as was the vegetarian lasagna. Will dine here again
We had a great time overall - the food was FANTASTIC!! There was a group of 5-6 next to us who were having a great time so sometimes it was hard to hear our own conversation. And next time I probably won’t use Open Table since they didn’t see my special request.
Love this place in San Juan Capistrano! Service is always excellent, as is the food. I ordered the pasta-less vegetarian lasagna which was delicious - and large - I took home half! We also ordered an artichoke for the table as an appetizer and there was plenty for 4 of us. Very cheesy. Highly recommend.
I’ve lived in the San Juan Capistrano area for almost 40 years and have been coming to sun-dried tomatoes since it opened. Always fantastic selection an excellent food. My only neutral , and is that the wait staff seems to be slow the last several times I have been there so don’t plan on a quick meal.
We arrived on time for our 6:45 Saturday night reservation. We were seated and did not see a server in our area for over 15 minutes. Once we did get a server, we felt like he was doing us a favor taking our order.
Never checked back with us after delivering our dinner, as I would have liked one more glass of wine. Needed to literally flag someone to assist. We will not be back.
Bland boring food. Disappointed. Soup was awful. Fried chicken sandwich was too salty.
We went here to celebrate a friend's birthday. It was Wednesday night so Lemon Risotto Soup night - the best soup, ever! We wish they had it more than one night a week. We love the spring rolls and shared the salmon, the chopped salad, and the chicken (besides each having our own cup of soup). Delicious.
We have been a few times in the past year but the service this time has soured our impression of the restaurant. While we love the soup we won’t be back. Too many other better options in the area.
The wine list is also very good and the food was excellent. I would highly recommend the lamb burger.
Really wanted to like this place, but started off on the wrong foot. Place was half empty and when the hostess tried to seat us in the bar, I asked if we could get a table in the half empty dining room and she replied that it was for larger parties. Really?? You have several 4 person tables available in the dining room and then she proceeded to sit my wife and I at a Four person table in the bar.
Food was not that good either. My plank steak was tough and chewy and the sauce they put on top was vinegary and didn’t go with the steak. My wife had the chicken pot pie. More like a chicken goulash with a pastry on top. The spinach salad was very good.
Overall, not what I expected and won’t be back.
I believe this is the third time we dine here. Their appetizer of home made chips with Gorgonzola Sauce is addicting!! Delicious.
Food was good, service was very slow. A little pricey
Good lunch options, the pastrami sandwich was great!
great place. loved the food. the salad sampler is to die for.
