Suga's Deep South Cuisine
One entree hot and the other cold. Indifferent service.. requested booth at reservation but was taken to high top table when I asked about booth I was completely ignored. The booth that I asked for sat empty the entire time we are. There were 3 other tables total being served.
Wonderful concept but zero execution. Because no one there cares about the customer.
Paid an extra $25 for the anniversary package. I was disappointed when I realized the rose pedals spread out on the table were fake,& then the fact that we weren’t in a more secluded area away from other guests in respect. I was also super upset that there was no live music on a Saturday night. Food was good, and service was okay. Don’t know if I’ll go back, but it was a good experience overall.
Wonderful food and service! Definitely will be back!
I've been to Suga's a number of times over the past 6 years or so and have had the same experience each time. I know I'm going to get great food, great ambience and great service. Haven't been disappointed yet. I've been here for birthdays, brunches and Happy Hour. I've always enjoyed this establishment. I hope it continues because this is one of the shining restaurants in Beaumont.
Great service and ambiance. Few places you can go to have this type of relaxing dining experience.
Took a long time to get seated despite reservation. Party upstairs slowed the food. Appeared to be understaffed. One steak was good, the other over cooked. The staff was very friendly and a good atmosphere. I would go again.
A very nice, romantic setting. The waiter was outstanding and knew everything on the menu very well.
Great place to stop off in Beaumont for a nice southern dining experience!
Birthday celebration for group of 6 adults: Our waitress Grace served us on-time, every time. Kay the jazz pianist is talented and set the right mood. The wine list is fabulous. The sampler and fried green tomato appetizers are authentic (per the Cajuns and Creoles at the table). Beef tenderloin entree with sauce was excellent. Tomohawk pork chop was tender and perfectly seasoned. The creme brulee and chocolate cake desserts were a perfect finish to a fantastic dinner. We started planning our next visit before the end of dinner! 5-Stars
My second time dining there, while visiting from Louisiana. Absolutely a delightful place to eat and enjoy some jazz while visiting.
Great food, service, brunch atmosphere. Waiter, Troy ?, was fun and did a great, attentive job. Will come back.
Great food. Great atmosphere. Great service. Love the music. Fantastic!
We had an amazing Sunday brunch! The lamb was superb and the complimentary beignets where a great treat! Our waiter was very attentive and went above and beyond. We can't wait to come back!
Amazing food and atmosphere we will be back. The cocktails and food were made to perfection.
The food was quite tasty however Wednesdays is when they receive their shipments so they were out of certain items. Overall would definitely recommend!
Fantastic atmosphere, great historic building, great menu, fantastic presentation and food was excellent. With that said the young waiter needs a little more training to polish his skills in this type of establishment. Great evening over all. We will be back.
The beinets melted in our mouth, best I've ever had! The atmosphere, music, and food was amazing. I would recommend this place to everyone.
Excellent Dinning experience. Our waiter was great and he explained everything on the menu. Drinks were great. I had 2 doubles of Gentlemen Jack and my wife had 2-of the best Margaritas she has had in a long time. Ronnie the Sax man was great and we can guarantee we will be back. In fact we are planning on going back July 4 weekend my birthday. I recommend this place for anyone.
Overall it was really good. We are planning to go back soon. My husband ordered a fish dish and the description did say there were peas in it and that’s fine. When the dish came it literally looked like a whole can of peas on top of the dish. Ambiance was great had a guy performing on the saxophone who was outstanding.
A surprise find. Food was excellent and the service fantastic. Wish they had been playing live music, but you could see it will be hopping again soon.
Great vibe and location would definitely be back….. I love it
Setting was prompt. The ambiance is nice & the food is delicious!!!
Last night my husband I finally had the chance to visit Sugas. Being from neworleans we were so excited to eat there. The atmosphere was beautiful. My husband paid extra to have our table set up really nice. The service was great. She was a very attentive host. But I can not say the same for the food. For an appetizer we ordered the boudin bruschetta and there was not a boudin in sight. We couldn’t even taste it. Let me say it was not nasty but I want to get what I paid for. We ask about it and they were very quick with their response “ it’s mixed in with the several cheeses they put on top. Lies!!! Then my husbands Baileys seafood pasta was so bland mediocre. The sauce was water down and had no body. Then here comes my dish. I ordered the blacken catfish served with jambalaya and veggies. The lady placed my plate in front of me. I looked down and was like, this is not catfish this is Talipa. Then here comes the quick response like we don’t know anything. Oh I’m so sorry, we don’t have catfish at the moment......and I’m looking like when we’re you going to tell me. While she is apologizing, we ask are you going to discount this dish? She excuse herself to speak to her manager. She comes back alone to relay the message, instead of the manager coming to speak to us. Ok.....why didn’t the manager come over to and apologize. He ended of coming over to make this long story short. But we will never ever eat at Sugas again. They treated us as if we didn’t no ish. Then want to give us some sad excuses the don’t make any sense.
Booked 3 weeks in advance for Mother’s Day with no mention that it was going to be a buffet. The staff was not prepared for the method of service and some were simply late to arrive. The food was cafeteria-style quality. My wife went to the person who was making omelettes, ordered, and given a ticket. A server came by to ask how everything was going and said she would check on the dish. It came 15 minutes later and was not what she ordered and runny eggs. In a word “inedible”. At that point we simply wanted to leave. By the way, when my son watched that same omelette maker fiddle with his nostrils through his “covid-mask” he refused to order anything. We were expecting the regular menu which sounded good.
Easter brunch was perfect!
Suga's is a wonderful place to gather with your friends or family. Definitely a date night atmosphere on Saturday night with live Jazz entertainment to make it even more enjoyable. The noise level is perfect, the music isn't too loud and the seating allows for you to hear the people at your table and not be disturbed by other conversations throughout the restaurant.
It was a wonderful date night with amazing food and amazing musician!! We had the pan fried red snapper and it didn’t disappoint!!
We just loved our experience here I would definitely make sure to eat here again. Both the veal and the group or dishes were outstanding. My wife fell in love with the oyster appetizer and I was in total agreement. This meal went right down to having some beautiful espresso and cappuccino with a terrific dessert
The appetizer sampler says it serves four and that’s true. Two of us tackled it but had to stop to leave room for our entrees. The boudin balls were quite tasty.
The seafood linguini is chock-full of seafood as stated and quite a good-sized portion.
The quail was over cooked and a bit dry but if you mixed it with the potato mash and cherry reduction it was quite tasty.
Service was a bit lacking, especially since we were only one of two tables seated, but our server was pleasant enough.
Awesome! Food, drinks, atmosphere, staff, and prices were Great! Will be back, only thing missing was the band! The band that they had scheduled couldn’t make it, should have had a backup
I was excited to eat at Suga's looking at the reviews, I even previewed their menu prior to booking my table. I was notified about a week prior that they would be offering a specialized menu for Valentines Day, I decided to give it a try. My husband and I dined at Suga's on 2/13/21, they had a four course meal for $75 pp. I was fine with the price as long as the food was worth it, it was not. The menu just didn't make sense, the food pairings were off, it really seemed as though the chef or menu creator was trying to hard to be fancy and missed the mark. Our waitress, did not come and check on us, we had to waive her down, when we needed something. My appetizer was a crab cake slider, which in theory sounded good but when it arrived it was one crab cake (that was delish) wrapped in this pita bread thing on a bed of homemade chips, I could've just done with the crab cake. My main course which was lack luster as well, I believe it was the fish, I only remember the food being tepid and the side that came with it tasting as of it had been made much earlier in the evening and again had a weird pairing. I sent the course back and asked for the steak instead (cooked medium) Overall, the steak was cooked on medium most of the way, some pieces were on the rarer side. The desert menu had to options, cheesecake and pound cake, I got the pound cake it was pretty but the taste was just alright. With the 2 drinks we ordered plus $14ish tax and tip and the meal costed well into the $200's. The only reason, I could justify feeling okay with paying this ridiculous amount of money for the food and service was the fact that I know the restaurant industry was hit so hard by the Pandemic. I would only go back to try their actual menu, that may be better, looking at the reviews.
Everything was wonderful. The service was fantastic and our food was delicious.
Grace was our waitress and as usual very attentive and great personality!! Very friendly attitude they entire place.. love the jazz themes! Food was amazing!!
For $75. per plate it seems there should have been some New Years table ambience. There was no candle nothing.
Tenderloin was the best I have ever had!
Absolutely love Suga’s. The atmosphere is amazing. Wait staff is on point. Food is always good!
Fantastic brunch!!!!! Great food, great prices, great waitress!!! Ask for grace! She’s amazing!!
The food was amazing, but it must have been our servers first day. We got appetizers and he never brought us plates or silverware, we had to ask, which took awhile because we never saw him. We had friends join us, and it took him 30 minutes to show up to see if they needed anything. After eating he let our plates on the table for a longtime, another employee did eventually show up to clear away our plates.
They made my birthday special!
Lovely place and always very good service. The food is always delicious and there are so many choices to go try again or something new that we promise ourselves that we will go and try something else that we saw and couldn't get to on that trip. Definitely a neighborhood gem!
