Strega North End
Great food! Restaurant owner sat two tables away and we felt like we were just as important as he was to the staff. Food was awesome. We have been to Italy and tried many restaurants. This place gives off the true Italian vibe but with better service than the real thing! Food was some of the best Italian food we’ve ever had including true Italian food from Italy!
We had a wonderful meal as always. We had the lamb that was cooked to perfection and a bottle of Brunello . We always enjoy our favorite waiter Gianni. This is our "place" in the North End.
The food and wine was very good. The head waiter was also very good. The hostess was extremely abrupt and the busboys were way too aggressive. The minute you took your last bite, he was leaning over to grab your plate and even used a fork from one side of the table to drag a fork closer to him to clear. It became a joke.
Great food & atmosphere
Great food, unbeatable ambiance with mob movies playing on all screens, and great service. Strega is our goto whenever we are in town and has been for many years.
Overall, it was a good restaurant and food was divine. But the arrange of seat were terrible. We sat in front of door, and it’s freaking cold night. My sister got sick
Took 30 minutes to be seated, then another ten to fifteen for the waiter to come over to us. Very rushed food, and felt like the time management was very poor.
Great night and we had a perfect table next to the windows. One person’s raviolis were a little cold, so we were wondering why or if they had been sitting out in the kitchen too long. It was busy and we had a show to get to so no time to wait to fix. Bolognese was amazing as well as the tiramisu. Friendly hostess, server & food runners. Would go back.
Our food came incredibly fast. I would have liked a tad more time to enjoy a sip or two of the martini. Very good though.
We dine out regularly and we have high standards because we cook and entertain often. Strega was outstanding. Not a bad thing to share. Which I full heartedly love. The food was hot, fresh and flavorful. The staff had genuine smiles and attitudes. Made the experience unforgettable...Thanks for a great evening.
Outstanding food which made the experience a good one. Extremely small and loud. Had to wait over 30 min for reservation. Restaurant called and texted twice asking if we were cancelling, even after we checked in. Food was stellar! Fantastic fried calamari, beet salad with fresh ricotta and honey (wow!!!) and perfect burrata and prosciutto. Entrees were just as good. Tender brasciole special was perfect, meatball was huge and high quality. Chicken cacciatore, paperdelle with lobster, ravioli, gnocchi, and risotto - all fantastic! Dinks good and wine list was reasonable and good. Service was good to great on a busy night. Overall, excellent food made the meal!
Pomm tinis are to die for! Gianni was fantastic!
It was Christmas day, the restaurant was packed and our table was late. But they were nice enough to sit us as soon as possible.
Starters were nicer than main course. Waiters are too busy to notice us a few of the times.
Overall, it was a nice experience.
Christmas lunch was amazing and could not wish for anything better.
The food at Strega is flawless Italian. Their signature veal entree was as good as promised. As was the signature shrimp and tagliatelle my wife had. Although the ambiance is lacking ( no tablecloths, average lighting and fixtures) the meal and service were stellar. Recommended
Exceptional food, culture, and general ambiance made for a very warm and enjoyable Christmas Eve dinner!
This old school, Italian restaurant for families with lots of children and even a baby held a festive holiday spirit. The pictures of many celebrities (with the owner) on a wall at the door reminded you of the history of this place, and the wall of Italian movies playing silently reinforced that point.
Everything from the calamari appetizer to the classic ravioli and the Fettuccini Strega (with shrimp and scallops) were prepared and presented exceptionally. The hostess even offered to refrigerate our little box of cannolis from Mike’s Pastry, down the street, while we dined finely and leisurely.
That’s hospitality! Gracie!
We had a a wonderful family dinner. My only comment would be our seating which was a little cramped and back by the restroom.
Amazing homemade pasta for a decent price in the north end. They wouldn’t seat us until everyone walked inside which made the limited bar area get pretty crowded.
The only thing good about this restaurant is the food! Very small and the seating was put together in such a way to accommodate as many people as possible therefore making it a dining room where everyone is basically sitting together - no privacy at all!! Extremely loud - therefore would not return.
Friendly staff. The mob movies was interesting. I would go back.
Awesome, love the food more than I could ever imagine in an authentic Italian restaurant!
Delicious food, great service and a most pleasant experience.
Our team went out for a business dinner and said everything was excellent. Great variety of food!
The food was absolutely delicious and the wait staff was very friendly. The place is very small and can get crowded fast. I wouldn’t want to sit at a table by the door. Other than that, amazing place!
I ordered the "turkey dinner" special. (It was "Thanksgiving", after all... ;) )
It was delicious, but not "amazing". I don't regret ordering it, but the menu's tortelloni are a better choice! THAT entree is AMAZING!!!
I was the only one of my party who ordered the turkey dinner special. Almost everyone else was very happy with their order. (The one who was not is a VERY picky eater who didn't enjoy chicken marsala. So it goes...)
original Strega, cool atmosphere. Great red sauce. Plus James is an excellent waiter
We celebrated our 10th anniversary dinner at Strega! Attentive and energetic staff, outstanding food, and a vibrant atmosphere!
Fantastic food service and atmosphere
The server(s) at Strega were attentive, professional and extremely friendly for our Sunday lunch with friends. More importantly, they listened to my dietary restrictions as I proposed modifications to a couple of my meal choices. The server immediately discussed the requests with the chef who offered what a I thought was a perfect option. Cancer and its related surgery have forever changed how my body digests food. Among items can no longer eat, which are key to many Mediterranean dishes, are garlic, onions and soft cheeses such as ricotta and mascarpone. My meal included a caprese salad (fresh mozzarella is fine for me to eat) and a perfectly grilled and seasoned (salt and pepper) veal chop with sautéed spinach and roasted potatoes. It was all delicious. It was my first time at Strega and most definitely won’t be my last. I highly recommend Strega! Grazie!
The food was absolutely amazing —- highly recommend
Unfortunately Strega did not deliver the experience hoped for my daughter’s birthday. First, we chose Strega as they offer valet parking but that’s where our experience went downhill. One, the valet wasn’t present and my wife had to go in to speak with the hostess who had to go find the valet. Two, the website said the valet cost was $20 but the valet charges us $25. The restaurant is tiny and the small foyer was too crowded to stand inside (on a very cold night). Once inside, we asked to be seated at our empty table but were told no as 2 of our party of six weren’t present. So, we jostled with waiters and other patrons while waiting for my daughter who, ironically, was a few minutes late because she also had to come in to the restaurant to have the hostess find the valet!!
Once seated, the service was slow, it was hard to hear over the noise and our waiter never came back to ask if we needed a drink refill. And, while the apps were good, 2 of the 6 meals were only ok (chicken was dry in the sorrentino).
While we managed to enjoy a birthday outing for my daughter we will not be back to this Strega as the others are much better and more accommodating.
Excellent as usual. We had seafood and it was wonderful
There were four people in our party. It was a dinner celebration for two 60th birthdays. Two of the four enjoyed their meal. The other two thought the meals were just ok.
Sorry was really looking forward to this dinner.
Too crowded, no elbow room, too little space between the tables, rushed service. Good food but overhyped.
Delicious food, fun atmosphere with mob movies and chandeliers, a bit cramped and loud, but makes it a happening. Order burrata and prosciutto for sure, maybe even two! Pasta is on point.
James is an excellent server. Eggplant and meatball appetizers were great as was the special dinner menu items. I'll be back!
Great spot!!! Strega is the North End!!!
Fabulous food & staff!!
We really appreciate fresh & authentic Italian food!
