This restaurant has a nice ambiance, provides excellent service and most importantly, they serve delicious food too! We loved this restaurant so much that we had dinner and came back for breakfast all this week! A wonderful dining experience during our yearly girl’s trip! We will definitely return.

Five star Plus! A friendly, warm, welcoming dinner experience start to finish, offering memorable cocktails, food and wine with knowledgeable attentive service. Yellow tail crudo was a stunning delight, the flavorful John Dory and King salmon expertly prepared, orange souffle and fun table side flambe selections all highly recommended. Sunset view of Pacific and Santa Rosa, hummingbirds and a rising moon. Perfect.

Always fabulous. Great service, incredible food, and a classical guitar playing in the background. Not to mention the views, either towering mountains or the shimmering ocean depending on where you're seated. What more can you ask for?

Korean tacos, crab cake, salmon salad, and pad thai were all excellent. The service was very good, friendly, and thoughtful. The grounds and gardens are stunningly beautiful. The prices are steep but worth the experience.

Our recent amazing Santa Barbara weekend dining experience ended with Sunday brunch at the Stonehouse at San Ysidro Ranch, and what a send-off it was! Kudos to Santa Barbara's own Chef Matt Johnson, and the entire team including the wonderful guitarist. Our server Alex made us feel so welcomed and she never missed a beat. What a professional! The pastries delivered to the table were absolutely outstanding. We had the Dungeness Crab Cake as our first course and followed with the Roasted Vegetable Shakshuka and Fresh Local Halibut. For dessert we had the Meyer Lemon Tart and Apple Pear Crisp. WOW!

Beautiful location, exceptional food and service. A very special restaurant. However I just don’t understand why a restaurant of this quality has such poor table lighting. I shouldn’t need a flashlight to read the menu or see the delightful food being served to me. Perhaps upgrade to usb charged table lights? I’m sure the chef would like us to see the meal they’ve prepared. I do.

Such a magical experience! Grounds and scenery were breathtaking! I would highly recommend arriving early and getting a pre-dinner drink, and walk around the grounds. The back patio is beautiful with twinkling lights. The service was exceptional! Everything we ate was delicious! Pricey but definitely worth it for entire experience. Would recommend and return next time we are in Monticeto!

A special place ~ Crispin was our server; professional, responsive and oh so nice. The food we shared was perfect for lunch; the yellow tail crudo was delicate but also flavor dense ( the dressing made the dish), The lobster dumplings and flatbread were flavorful and texture rich, and our cocktails ( a mojito and blackberry bourbon concoction) were the perfect compliment to our meal. Fresh herbs were used in every dish and cocktail we enjoyed. Thank you for providing a beautiful dining experience! For my daughter’s 21st birthday 💫

This place is an institution - historically preserved; contemporarily appointed. Food is remarkable and brunch is a must do. The grounds are spectacular and serve as lovely bookends to consistently perfect dining experiences, thoughtfully improved by well trained staff at every point along the way.

Such an outstanding restaurant! The foods was fabulous - we were there for lunch and started out with the Maine lobster dumplings followed by the Blackened Salmon Salad and my husband, the Mediterranean Branzino. The service was also exceptional. The grounds and gardens are so beautiful you have to spend the extra time to walk around. Such a great experience from start to finish.

Food was very well executed and thankfully not aiming for a Michelin star. That is totally fine with the clientele. Service started well until it got busy at which point we fended for ourselves somewhat. Wine list is a big book. Surprisingly not exorbitantly priced. The restaurant is in a lovely resort which one can wander after the meal.

The food, as usual, was amazing--well conceived, prepared. Especially loved the John Dore entree. The service at the table was terrific--attentive, but not overly so. The greeting at the host desk was a mess, though. Got there a tad early, and they said the table wasn't ready, which is fine, especially since the gardens are so pretty and worth strolling. Came back a few minutes after the reservation time and the same hostess didn't seem to remember us, so had to re-introduce ourselves. Supposedly the table still wasn't ready. As we were about to go stroll the gardens more she said, no, wait, they do have our table. And then we were led out of the restaurant proper to "the Veranda." It's a lovely outdoor area off one of the cottages, but it's not the Stonehouse. No one told us upon our reservation we would be sitting in this "new" area. It really seems like people should be advised when they aren't getting prime seating. It was also puzzling the area was not full, so why we had to wait for our less desirous table in the first place wasn't ever made clear. At Stonehouse prices, everything really should be welcoming and move with precision. (What's more, evidently SYR is offering a $39 prix-fixe lunch at the Veranda, another sign they realize it's a secondary location.)
