Always an amazing experience at Stone! Been coming here for over ten years and we love it! Expertly prepared food combined with Stone’s unmatched beer lineup made for a great afternoon on their patio. Thanks as always for a great experience!
Fantastic service—I walked through the back door, the gift shop, and the young man there walked me all the way to the restaurant front desk. The young woman who waited on us was wonderful! When we told her we’d like to stay a rather long time because we were catching up with each other after many months, she left us to ourselves, stopping by occasionally to refresh our drinks, and brought the check exactly when I’d said we’d need to leave. Of course the food was great, as expected.
First I want to say I feel bad for these business who can’t find people to work. This business is unable to open due to no staff. The only way to order is on a phone app. No wait staff available, not even to ask questions. The app alone needed IT support 😂 Your table orders and they bring food when they can. Some peoples food came right away while others waited 30 min so safe to say we didn’t wait for everyone because the food would have been cold. The food was ok, nothing to write home to mom about. Probably will not return here again. It sucks that restaurants are unable to employ people.
Their contactless ordering was ok, but food was so-so for the price. Their white buns (i forgot the name) was dry and stiff, the mac and cheese bland (accdg to my bro) and their chicken salad had too much greens that overpowered the small piece of chicken (accdg to my mother). Worse, i wrote that it was my fathers bday and noone bothered to ask us if we needed anything after they delivered food. I dont know if its because we're asians (i hope not) or that we're seated inside while everyone was on the garden but we were completely ignored after food was brought. I even asked someone to take our family picture and he said later, and didnt come back.
Ordering through online only is a hassle, especially when I’m out to eat with my grandparents. Without me, they’d be lost.
It also made it difficult to ask for an extra glass of water, salt, etc.
So you order everything on your phone which is super convenient so there isn’t a waitress/waiter. There’s a bunch of busboys who deliver your food and are supposed to pick up plates etc. Our appetizers were brought out perfectly but then our food was too and no one ever picked up our empty plates and they kept stacking on the table- with 10 people that’s a ton of plates. We had to request multiple times to get our table cleared. The guy who initially was assigned to our table seemed annoyed to even assist us. He ignored us at times. so overall the food and location were great just the service was pretty bad- we are frequent customers and it has never been this bad. Also it wasn’t even that busy there were a ton empty tables all around so no excuse.
Great Mother’s Day brunch, easy QR ordering and prompt and friendly service.
this location is so beautiful! employees are very nice and food was amazing. will be coming back fore sure.
So many room areas to choose from, the bathrooms are clean but airport nearby you can hear all the airplanes engines as they take off
Not very impressed, to confusing with the app. Waiters were overwhelmed and kept bringing us othere tables food. The price for the food was not worth the amount of food I got.
Disappointed, probably won't be back. Nothing like past experiences here. Don't care for the new online ordering system, we talked to one human the whole time, right at the beginning and then they are gone. If you need anything you better be loud and jump up from your table to grab someone. This also affects food quality. Our food was average tasting and wasn't warm. No one comes to see if you got everything or if your food came out correctly so by the time you can grab someone it is colder and less than average. Brussel sprouts were not good, not much flavor and rock hard. Not sure if they weren't cooked all the way or not ripe?? Still love the setting, it is nice to be outdoors and the atmosphere and decor are great for San Diego. Spend your money and your tip somewhere else.
This place used to be AWESOME. They’ve always had amazing food and the beer is obviously top notch. However the last two times I’ve eaten here the menu and specifically the food itself has left a lot to be desired for the price. Portions are smaller now and there is less attention to detail.
Service is pretty terrible. It is impossible to flag someone down and open table orders regularly “don’t make it to the register” and therefore never come out. I’ll not be returning until after the pandemic and even then maybe not ever.
3 separate drinks never arrived. 2 entres took over 45 minutes to arrive. Tables around us seemed to have no problems tho.
Lovely setting and good beer. The staff gave us a great table to accommodate a big party outside. Tables were socially distanced and felt comfortable. The only downside is that they still have not reinstated normal table service, so all food is ordered via the app and then dropped off by runners. I don't mind ordering through the app (and when you have several parties at one table on different bills, it is actually useful). However, no one ever checked in on us throughout our 2 hours there, and if we'd had an issue, it would have been difficult to track someone down.
Over all great experience
Stone Brewing is still operating at a very high, Covid safe level. Meaning, there is little to zero interaction with the waitstaff except when they’re delivering the food you’ve already ordered and paid for through their app. You never really think about how much you need a waitstaff until you need basic things like, “more ice, please.” “Can I have some sweetener with this iced tea?” It, “Can I have customize my sandwich so there’s no horseradish on it?” Maybe it was a busy day, but most of the waiters coming and going from our table didn’t ask if we needed anything else. It just made for a frustrating afternoon (particularly for my elderly parents). It didn’t feel very personable, and I appreciate the work that waiters/waitresses do even more now.
Amazing food, beer, and ambiance. Such a unique space and incredible setting for a brewery.
Lovely place, the garden atmosphere is amazing. I love leaving the table and looking at the lotus and koi once in a while. Ordering and paying are all automated online with smart devices but wait staff still available to assist and knowledgable. Bear in mind if you do plan on giving a speech, it is on the flight path to landing at San Diego International. So you will get some passing jets. I am a pilot so this does not bother me at all and didn't seem to bother any other guests there either. We drove all the way from LA to try this and we were not disappointed. We will definitely come back!
We had 2 large tables and all the food and beer was great. The outside seating is awesome and we had an amazing time. The current ordering system with QR codes was a bit tricky at first but we figured it out without too much hassle. Except for my mom. I'm pretty sure the magic splotches on the table phone camera link to menu made her head explode. But that's just her.
We walked in they sat us right away and we got a cute table next to the koi pond they have outside , they set up our heater and we were served very quickly! :)
Since it’s still a COVID time, they do not serve you like your typical restaurant. You have to use their QR code system (so bad!) to order your food.
Great choices of beer and great food to go along with. Excellent environment for a relaxing Sunday afternoon.
Always try and make a stop when visiting the area. Great ambiance, good food, and of course tasty brew.
We loved the food, service & ambiance & great Covid-safety measures. They have a water feature on the premises which attracts mosquitoes, however, so try to get a table not near that area as the mosquitoes come out at sunset! (After dinner we simply moved away from the water to finish our drinks & visit). Aside from that, it was a great experience as always!!!
Amazing service. We will definitely be back again.
Impersonal not having a wait person. Didn't care for ordering by phone though someone did help us through the process. 2 of 3 food just ok. Definitely not feeling the ambience we came for. Dogs at next table yelping not ok. Hope this is not the new norm. This is a place we have enjoyed.
Great place. The food and beer are always delicious and the venue is hard to beat. Get the outside seating.
Great food, wonderful decor, and beer of course! Love the place but not happy spending my first 15 minutes typing orders for the table. Food comes out promptly once ordered and is plopped down. I really miss servers. Dining like this is not fun.
We had a wonderful time. We got lucky and hit the patio right after a rainy morning so we got sunshine and a more intimate atmosphere. The beers were great, service was good too. We had the charcuterie plate, which was fine. Two cheeses in smaller portions and two salami-ish meets, nothing to write home about, but a nice snack.
I dislike having to pay and tip in advance of getting my order. The food and beer were great.
What an absolutely lovely Sunday. We all loved the new way of ordering! It was so fast and so easy. We didn't have to worry about "catching someone" to get more food or drinks. And with this new way of ordering there is less room for error on the customer end and the service end. Awesome, we will be back.
We loved the ambiance outdoors, it was so nice out! Service was great, the food came out quick & everything was delicious. Ordering through your phone was very convenient because you didn’t have to wait for a server to come around. Can’t wait to come back :)
Had the beef brisket and the burger. Both excellent. Felt very safe with adequate distancing and sanitization. Easy to order online. Easy to flag down any server for any assistance needed. Definitely one of our favorites when we are in town 3 - 4 times a year.
Cool place but service was nonexistent. Ordering online and food was brought to the table. We had to chase people down all night to get us water, to-go boxes, and anything else. Nobody came to the table to check on us despite employees standing around. It was a frustrating dining experience.
It was not easy to order and scan with our phone. Not sure if it was connection. Service was slow. This pandemic makes it harder to get good customer service nowadays. I understand but took an hour for good to come out. I made reservations and got seated right away but need to work on more personable level. We had to ask for plates and utensils - we sat outside
All around, a great place to relax outside and enjoy dinner and a beer. We love the patio!
Everything was fine.. just keep in mind this location is near San Diego airport. You will constantly be hearing loud airplanes.
Love to go here. Ease of getting reservations and the atmosphere is great.
Nice outdoor seating. Food was good. Not anything great. Drinks were good and felt well priced.
I know the pandemic has been hard on this industry. Beside the new COVID-19 protocol, my experience was awesome at Stone. I feel safe, I love the mobile ordering. The service was nice from the front desk to the servers who brought us our food. Me and my gals will keep this up in our regular rotation. Thanks for being open and providing us with a glimmer of normalcy during these are days. I really appreciate all of your staff and managers.
This was the first time we ate at a place that primarily used a QR code to place a meal, drinks, and after dinner requests (ie., request to go boxes, etc). There was very little interaction with the servers. My husband ordered the rib platter, which was really good. The meat was very tender and the sauce was excellent. The beans and corn bread was very good too. I ordered the bulgolgi noodles which was ok but I feel like the meat was marinated in the soy sauce too long and took away from the meal. We made the mistake of ordering the appetizer at the same time we ordered drinks and the meal. The drinks came early but the appetizer came at the same time with the rest of the meal. Prior to placing an order, you will be required to put in a credit card number. You will also have to put in the credit card number again once you are ready to pay for the meal/drinks. The area/ambience is really nice. There was a lot of trees, a koi pond/canal, and waterfall. Since we were seated outside they turned on patio heaters which kept us slightly warm. Since Liberty Station is near the airport, it was in the direct flight line path for jets taking off. I think that there is inside eating but not sure how it would work if it rained as the umbrellas that I saw were the fabric type. The nice thing is that parking was free (hopefully that doesn’t change as many of the parking areas around San Diego charge for parking. Would we go back again? Probably not. We missed the interaction with servers.
