Always a great place for sushi. The lobster sushi was delicious. Beautiful scenery
Only issue is second appetizer ordered with first came at end of meal!
The food was great however it was bitterly cold in the space. We asked to be seated in the back, away from the open doors and bar where we were seated however they informed us that the back area "was even colder" so we just stayed there and ate while very cold.
Don’t miss the Black Rock sushi and don’t add soy sauce...great flavor without it. I already want to order it again! Very limited wine by the glass is only downside.
We returned here for a second time despite a mixed experience the first time. Our Wait person was the same and she was very lovely and previously comped my kids forgotten drinks which was forgotten.
We returned based on how good the sushi rolls were but to also try the Sushi Pizza one last time! Very delicious and on Naan bread and hard to describe. A definite must try.
This time I ordered the fish you can smell cooking throughout the restaurant-but when it arrived it was just a section on it. It was missing the whole fish which is traditional. I kept thinking it was a joke. Saba Shioyaki is always the whole fish. This was an edited to pieces of that fish. It was all right and delicious but not what I was expecting but for people who don't like to deal with bones or know how to eat a cooked fish, will probably enjoy this? For the price I'd rather have my own Sushi Pizza.
I also tried a different roll called Ke' Kai and it was not as exciting as the previous night. I'd rather have an exciting roll like Black Rock or even a simple but delicious Crunchy roll that my husband had.
The kids enjoyed, sushi rolls, naan bread and miso soup but also ordered a side of Shrimp tempura. They were very happy.
All the staff were very friendly again this time and we had a better seat so I think you could have a very different experience based on where you sit. We sat near a window but first table near the bar. Warm breezes from the window was great. last time were in a corner by the wall but the AC kept bearing down on us to where my husband had to leave and get jackets, despite asking if they could turn down the AC.
Amazing service!! Sushi is definitely high quality and the menu is very well crafted. Chef J has really set the bar for quality sushi on Kauai! Hostess, waitress' and chef's were all sooo amazing!! We will be back. Worth every penny!
We love the sushi pizza and lobster dynamite! Service is excellent.
They were very accommodating in allowing us to sit outside. Our water was very attentive and help with the menu. The sushi was simply average.
Beautiful view and setting.
Our favorite find on Kauai! The chef here is AMAZING and never disappoints. The food was superb, the service was great and we are still talking about it a month after our visit. The tuna sashimi and Hamachi was fabulous (had to have seconds), the lobster special was delicious (though too rich for some) and the desert (tiramisushi) so light we could've had two. Why didn't we? Definitely try this place and if you can, sit on the patio. It's a beautiful view.
The Sushi was the best. The service was excellent and of course the VIEW! We will definitely come back.
Service was wonderful and food was amazing.
It was a busy night 2/14 but we enjoyed it. Next time we'll sit at the sushi or bar for a more casual evening.
From Anchorage, AK where sushi is fresher, better prepared, and less expensive.
Fabulous rolls (California & Stevensons), rice cooked to perfection, ahi tuna belly sashimi (toro) that melts in the mouth. You’ve got to try the delicious tiramisushi for dessert.
Good sushi but the emphasis is on fancy make rolls that end up tasting quite similar.
Great sushi !
Absolutely HORRIBLE service. If I could give this place zero stars I would. My wife and I are currently on our honeymoon in Kauai. Today (1/18) is my wife's birthday so I made reservations at this restaurant so we could have sushi in Hawaii. We received good feedback on this place and thought, since it was so close to the house we are staying at, that we would give it a try. We got there early purposefully to have a drink at the bar before our reservation. Emphasis on RESERVATION. It took about ten minutes before we were acknowledged by the THREE bartenders...that should have been our first clue. We hung out at the bar till 7:41p (our reservation was at 7:30p) for our name to be called. We sat down at the table, were greeted by a sweet girl with waters (only good thing about this trip), and waited. And waited. And waited. We watched the four tables surrounding us be checked in on by their server. And continued to wait. Finally, after trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, it was at 8:10p (over 20 minutes since we had been seated) that I asked for the manager, and by that point, the dinner was ruined. Sure, yea, you Mr. Manager can comp us the meal. But what you fail to realize is that this was so much more than a meal. It was supposed to be our night out "on the town", dressed up (for the island), as newly husband and wife, celebrating so much--including her first birthday as "Mrs." Now, it's ruined. So we scramble at 8:30p to try and find a "plan B." Thanks for that Grand Hyatt. Honestly, screw the resorty bovine excrement....get out and enjoy Hawaii the way it should be enjoyed, and spend your hard earned $ at the local businesses!!!! We'll be sure to pass along this feedback to everyone we know.
Love the view & both the sushi & the sake were delicious. The ambience of an ocean view table can’t be beat. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Great fresh fish for your sushi.they
Have also added a kama'aina rate which is also a great deal
The sushi was spectacular and service was point on. Provides a romantic atmosphere with a more hip Poipu crowd visiting from the mainland. Not your grandparents stuffy library bar (just the appearance)...go check it out. It’s the best sushi on Kauai and maybe all the HI islands. Thanks for a great New Years Eve (from a local). Aloha
Food and service was excellent. I would recommend them to anyone!
Food was excellent - some of the best sushi we’ve ever had. Our waiter...not so great. But all the other people picking up the slack for him were fantastic!
The atmosphere was lively , we sat on the lanai so we were a bit away from the crowd. We ordered the Pineapple Thai’d (yum), sushi pizza (can we order 10 of these?!? Amazing) and two rolls. The sushi rolls were good but I have had better at home and on the island. We had another round of drinks, Lemon gingertini(great) and shochu(very interesting). Our server, Jeff, was attentive but not over bearing. Overall 5 stars for the drinks but 4 star for sushi.
Food was awesome
We went here while on our honeymoon and the sushi was amazing!! A little pricey but worth every penny
Dined here during our stay at the Grand Hyatt. Nice ambiance and drinks. Food was okay. Sushi could have been better.
Great sushi. Beautiful sunset
Great sushi and beautiful decor! My wife and I really enjoyed our dining experience here.
We had a great first experience. Service was awesome and the food was amazing.
We booked our Hawaii trip 10 months ago and eating sushi in hawaii was on my bucket list. I am not sure what type pf clientele is rating this place so high. I have been eating sushi for 35 years now and this place was horrible. The rice was cold and hard. The hamachi was bitter! How do you pull that off? The Uni was presented in chopped up pieces and was easily last weeks inventory.
I prefer new fish and an old sushi chef, this place was the opposite. I guess if you want a bunch of cutely named, oversaucesd rolls, this may work. If you savor the fish, stay away!!!!
We enjoyed the lobster tail and sushi. Lobster tail was exceptional, highly recommend. Service was warm and friendly.
Loved the sushi! I was stuffed. Drinks were great. I had the mango martini and could drink that all night.
The food here was delicious, and our server was so attentive and friendly. It was our honeymoon, and they comped our first round of drinks which was really nice. Food was amazing, but a little expensive, which seems to be the common theme in Hawaii! Definitely recommend if you love sushi and aren’t too worried about spending a little bit of cash.
Hosts may have forgotten us for a bit. There was plenty of seating we were 45 minutes early and hungry. We were seated 30 minutes late. Long drive home but the experience was worth getting out for. The flavor, presentation and ambiance were perfect for the occasion.
Wonderful outdoor view of the beach, harbor and Grand Hyatt gardens. Food was wonderful as usual. Best Sushi 🍣 on Kauai.
Sushi was great, don’t get me wrong but the prices are way too high. Try local spots before the hotel. Ask locals for the places they go. Service was poor to average at best. Drinks were good
Service was slow. Sushi was fair...nothing mind blowing compared to sushi in Ohio :/
