    Received wrong dish but server has offered compensation (no meal replacement). Plate was okay, béarnaise sauce tasted way too much vinegar and wasn’t hot enough. Dinning room had no windows, and decorated minimally (didn’t take advantage of the nice view front water). Great selection of wine. Nice grilling smoke when entering the restaurant. I was expecting a bit more for such a steakhouse.

    What a waste of an evening. Waited 10 minutes to be greeted. Waited 10 minutes for server to acknowledge us. Waited endlessly for courses. Tables that arrived 30 minutes after us got served dishes more quickly. What was supposed to be a special night was filled with futility.

    Sterling's table d'hote menu is always a good value. We enjoyed a wonderfully prepared filet mignon meal, and the 3 mushroom soup was a real hit as well. Service is impeccable and the ambience superior. Sterling has been around a long time and they just know how to give you a very nice experience. If you are into wine, there are very few places in Ottawa or Gatineau with such an extensive wine list. We enjoyed a beautiful Pomerol. Excellent experience as always!

    The location of this restaurant is beautiful and the ambiance outside on the patio was just perfect. Service was good but the waiter seemed quite busy and distracted. Really impressed by the wine selection but the food left something to be desired. I had the onion soup to start which was delicious and my partner had the grilled octopus - no issues there! The filet mignon was ok - I’ve had much better for much less $$ and the asparagus was over cooked, mushy and flavourless so quite disappointing. The vegetables served with the steak were the same. Overall a nice dinner but considering value/quality, I would go elsewhere.

    Le serveur était super immature, ils nous parlaient avec insolence et avec agressivité lors du paiement. Dépenser +400$ pour recevoir ce genre de service:( C’était ma pire expérience!

    Our service was the worst ever experienced. Something has really changed about this restaurant we’ve gone to for many years. Probably management which was noticeably missing.

    Very good experience, but for the price I expected the steak to be a little bit better (under seasoned) but the blue cheese sauce made up for the lack of seasoning. Wine pairing was good. Overall very good, but 400$ for 2 was more than I would have paid for it.

    The food was gross. Seasoning was non existent. The shrimp tasted terrible and I’m pretty sure the rice was rice-a-roni. The waiter was nice and attentive but the food was basically inedible for 300 dollars.

    Oysters were really big not so tasty covered in parsley, there was a funny sauce the waiter didn’t explain what it was. There was no mignonette no horseradish. The table d’hôte was a 4 course meal, the soup was ok, the beef tartare was a weird grey color almost as if it was pre-made and had been sitting there for hours. The steaks were well prepared the shrimps were over cooked. Overall the service took over 2 hours it was really long to wait. The waiter seemed a little overwhelmed. We waited a long time between each service. The food ever definitely overpriced for what it was. Safe to say we will not be returning here.

    My husband and I had the table d’hôte . The soup was delicious and the beet salad excellent . Our main course had the teice baked potato which was very tasty and the accompanying vegetables were beautifully cooked . Weboth found that our New York sirloin could have had more flavour and more tenderness . I wish to add that the attention to my meal being gluten free was exceptional . We will return . Our guests were very pleased with their meal . One had filet mignon and the other had salmon . They were presented with a lovely decorated plate wishing them Happy 50th Anniversary ! A very nice touch . Well appreciated !

    Crab cake, abundance of crab and not filler, and house salad were excellent! Main was twice baked, filet mignon and shrimp - steak was cooked to perfection med/rare, garlic butter with shrimp, porto sauce rounded the flavours.

    Apres 20 ans d’entendre parler du Sterling j’ai finalement eu l’occasion d’y aller manger. Dans l’ensemble c’est nettement une expérience positive mais je m’attendais a plus. J’ai pris la table d’hôte, potage chou-fleur parmesan : bon, gouteux mais très simple. Tartare de bœuf/caviar : aussi bon mais absence de saveur. NY 12on/légumes/pomme de terre Monaco : pomme de terre et légumes assez épuré n’ayant peu de saveurs autres que les ingrédients…il y avait peut-être de l’estragon mais très peu. Le steak, assurément c’est de la viande de qualité avec cuisson parfaite a ma demande mais on dirait que qu’il n’y a aucun assaisonnement. Oui le steak a un bon ‘gout’ mais après 5 des 20 bouchées ça manquerait un peu. La sauce est nécessaire mais la béarnaise était un petit peu trop pointue donc changé pour la réduction Porto qui était bien plus plaisante. Dessert cheese cake ricotta/poire : bien mais encore rien d’extraordinaire en terme de saveur. J’ai aussi gouté à la crème brulée qui était bonne mais extrêmement riche. D’ailleurs ce dessert doit être consommé a 2 parce que la portion est grosse et la saturation arrive vite à mi-parcours. J’ai aussi pris un verre de Merlot qui goutait très bon et qui s’apparentait plus aux Cabernets comme les nombreux Californiens tel les Ménages a 3 ou Carnivores. Avec ma conjoint qui a prit la salade de betteraves / filet mignon 8on/crème brulée/verre de Cab. Le tout montaient à 257$ tx inc plus on ajoute le pourboire. Une belle expérience en regard avec tous les aspects resto-service-choix-qualité des ingrédients…mais une légère déception en terme de saveurs qui n’emportera personne a l’extase ou la surprise.

    Charming restaurant, personnel very professional, and friendly. The meal was excellent. We were celebrating two birthdays and were surprised with a special chocolate cake courtesy of the house along with the cake that came with our meal. Their specialty is beef and it was amazing would definitely go back if I am in the area.

    Overall a good experience, I’ve been to Sterling before, and I remember the waiter bringing out our piece of steak that was going to be cooked. They didn’t do it this time and I was a little disappointing because I remember that was actually pretty cool part of the experience. Started off with a baguette. It was not freshly made. It was definitely from a store. The vegetables were definitely frozen as well as the fries. However, the steak was amazing. You could taste Maplewood that it was cooked on and the halibut was amazing good as well. The server we had was quite polite and recommended us a great wine to pair with our food.
