Outstanding food and drinks. Never a bad meal! Great staff!
I give this place five stars my meal was amazing I highly recommend the seared tuna appetizer the state salad and the Cajun ribeye! I would put his place up against the finest restaurants in downtown Philadelphia.
First time to this outstanding Media restaurant and not disappointed. If presentation is valued at 50%, the other 50% came rather easily. Good venue for special occasions, business meetings.
The only downside is having a boisterous group/individual at the bar. Even though the dining room is separated by a wall, excessive noise reaches into the dining room. Maybe the bartender
could have a couple of muzzles handy.
Love the location, great food and service. Enjoyed the live entertainment. There for my brothers birthday.
The service was great and the potatoe soup was amazingly great!
Food was very good. Service was good as well. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. Will visit again.
Food and service were very good. It was so noisy, though, that it was very difficult to have a conversation or even enjoy the ambiance - even at an early reservations (6:30 pm). The noise level was very high even before the live entertainment started. Tables were very close together and were crowded into a small space.
The food and service was great. Could have done a lot better without an overly loud singer guitar player. Room has nothing on the walls to absorb the sound.
Delicious! This was our first time here and it won't be the last.
We called earlier to ask if we could push our reservation from 5:00 to 5:30, which we were told was fine. We were given a nice table where the food and service was great!
Live music was close to deafening! Even choosing table close to restrooms made it difficult to converse at table.
We felt the food had room for improvement steak was very grisslly
where we were seated we were in the way of patrons & servers
never was asked if we needed refills on water/ beer/iced tea
took long to get check once we were finished eating
but was seated once we got there with a reservation
Very comfortable and good for conversation. Nice atmosphere and the staff was friendly, attentive and professional.
Wife and I always go here for our favorite steaks in the area. This visit was no disappointment! Our plates were cleared! Wait staff was friendly and efficient as always as well. We will undoubtedly be back soon!
My steak was very good. The lobster bisque, which was a special, was fishy. The blue cheese dressing on the wedge was runny and not enough blue cheese. One empty drink, the left over salad and the soup sat on our table for a very long time. In fact the table was never cleared before our entries came to the table. The waiter pushed aside the dirty plates and empty drink to put our meals down. Then he cleared the dirty dishes. Not very classy or professional for the prices they charge! This was suppose to be our Valentine's Day dinner out.
Always great food and service!!! The menu is definitely worth coming over and over there is always something different and delicious offered.
I think the food was pricey because it’s Valentine’s Day. And our order came after a long wait
Great service, lovely people sitting near us for Valentine's Day. We got the Valentine's special which was $75 & came with soup/salad, shrimp cocktail, filet, lobster tail and champagne; well worth it. Definitely going back other food items-the Seafood Alfredo next time!!!
10th wedding upgrade and valentines dinner
We’ve been there a few times and this was quickly becoming one of our favorite spots. Tonight, Valentine’s Day we went there and hit a few servicing problems. First, we weren’t told of any specials, then all the women customers were given a single rose except my wife, I had to request one, everyone around us received a basket of bread, we had to request 2x. It was very odd that the service to the other patrons was spot on, but we were ignored. The food was good, but service was very lacking.
Fantastic food and service.
This is my go to place for Filet Mignon! It's perfection! The restaurant is pricey but great quality. If you go on Sunday or Monday night it's BYOB.
We went to Stephan's on State to celebrate my daughters birthday. This happened to be Valentines week so we ordered off their special menu. the filet was perfect as was the mushrooms with lump crab meat risotto. Everyone was happy with their meals. Short ribs, scallops, chicken Stephan's all were great.
It was so loud in the restaurant we couldn’t talk. Food was wrong and they just don’t do a great steak.
Server was amazing and highlighted great choices for us to try! Loved the shallot butter ontop my steak - life changing ;)
Great place one of my favorite places to dine. Haven't been in a long time , thinking about returning soon.
Even with having a reservation host was unwelcoming and abrupt. Once we got past him evening was great.
Spoke w. Hostess for reservation Saturday at 7PM. This is after happy hour and before night crowd on purpose! Told hostess of special occasion that we wanted to enjoy quiet meal prior to advertised DJ start at 830PM. Hostess failed to mention ENORMOUS party taking place in bar for Eagles celebration. When we arrived, the environment was already untenable. We literally could not hear each other speak. In hindsight, we should have vacated then. Waiter was friendly & apologized profusely for environment. Cheesesteak egg rolls delicious. Entrees (chk parm, seafood alfredo, tilapia) tasty but we ate only some of these expensive entrees before leaving! Given that the check was nearly 100$ but dining experience so unpleasant, I asked mgmt (kelly?) to reduce the cost of the meal. I explained that I had spoken earlier to a hostess who should have informed me of the looming celebration once I told her we were specifically arriving early to avoid noise. Sadly, Mgr refused to take any responsibility, instead blaming me for making a dinner reservation at 7 on a Saturday night. Disappointing. For the cost of responsibility, compassion and possibly an entree, she could have potentially had 4 repeat customers.
Food was very good, glad they put us in the back, because we made most of the noise!
Food has gone downhill, used to enjoy it here....quite pricey for type of food and location
Food and service were both excellent. Always a good atmosphere.
Service was great. Prime rib, crab cakes & scallops were delicious and perfectly cooked. Mashed potatoes weren’t the best, baked potato would’ve been a great option but not offered. Live acoustic music was a pleasant surprise and very enjoyable. Will definitely go back!
When we arrived on a Saturday night, the noise level was very high with what seemed like a local crowd, everyone at the bar seemed to know each other.
We were seated at the back of the restaurant at a 4 top which was great because I could sit closer to her. If I was seated across from my date, we would not have been able to hear each other.
Aside from that, our server was great and the food was excellent. We would definitely go back.
Food is great! However, the live music is a little loud for the dining experience, but the band was good. Would still go again.
Great food..great experience!! Quiet, excellent service.
Everything was great! Food was awesome and our waiter Dan K was THE BEST!!!
Definitely will be back!
Excellent service. Our waitress was very friendly and great with our son. Everyone liked their dinner too. It was a little on the noisy side but that is expected on a Saturday night. Overall a very nice experience!
This was our first visit to Stephen's on State; we were there to hear a friend's band and decided to come early to have dinner. The menu looked great; however the food fell short of the descriptions. The flatbread was crunchy to the point of almost being burnt and while the toppings were tasty and flavors were good, but overall it was too greasy with oil was dripping off the top.. The bread was delicious as was the dipping oil. Unfortunately the oil was in a container that did not fit the bread board so oil dripped onto the table. The servers were nice about cleaning it up when asked.
My husband enjoyed the Veal Saltimbocca and said it was good but not great. I was disappointed in my salmon. It was slightly overcooked and the risotto was definitely overcooked and flavorless. The sauce and the accompanying shrimp were tasty, however with the tails on dripping with oil and sauce, it was challenging to eat without getting sauce or oil all over.
We tried the chocolate lava cake; this too was overcooked with the cake part clearly overdone.
Overall decent, but not great food. For the price, I expected a better meal
Every course was absolutely amazing. The service was on point with clearing the table and there was not a long wait for our food at all. Well worth it! I will come here again.
Sisters lunch. Excellent service and food. Best soup and Spinach Salad on State Street.
Will go again soon!
