We love Stella Mares! I book all of our business dinners here as it has the best ambiance in town, we especially love the new outdoor dining. I highly recommend! 😊♥️
Great food, ambiance, and service. We will definitely be back.
It is a lovely location - the staff were lovely and accommodating. The food was wonderful.
Beautiful evening, delicious food , excellent service. Going back soon.
For for Mother's Day brunch. We had a great experience - wonderful ambiance and food. Very cute old house, great outdoor seating. Would recommend and look forward to going back.
The ambiance is just as expected, tastefully decorated Country French. Service is friendly and very professional and the food is delicious. Could 't have asked for anything more!
Would love to go back.
Great ambience. Loved the fireplace. Our waitress was working hard all night. It was really busy yet she kept checking in on us and letting us know she would be by soon. Once she came over to us she gave us her undivided attention. She apologized for the wait. She tried to get to know us a little and make a connection. It was a real personal touch which she maintained throughout the night. The meals were great. Highly recommend!
Mussels in cream sauce was delicious. But extremely good French fries should be served on the side.
Filet mignon with roasted potatoes was excellent.
New York strip steak was very tough, nut French fries were delicious.
LOVE this place! Food is spectacular... pate and cheese plates, duck and mussels,, and was treated to a fabulous birthday treat to finish the meal. We ate outdoors and thoroughly enjoyed it. Service exceptional as well!
For a French restaurant it should have had a more interesting wine menu. There was no decent wine on the menu and all cheap and tasteless wines. The rest of the wine menu was the same. Disappointing wine list. And if you ask for a glass of Bordeaux it was not even served out of the original bottle, instead we tasted a cheap bulk wine.
One guest had to return her steak because it was overcooked, and the 2nd time same thing again. So the rest of our table was finished before she could start her dinner.
Our party of 6 showed up on time for our reservation and were told the hot water heater broke down and there would be no lunch. Why couldn't they call me letting me know?
Food is fantastic! Love the braised short ribs. Pork chop was delicious.
Charming setting, terrific service, fair prices. Will definitely return!
A lovely time at Stella Mare. I love the new outdoor tents and curtains they have put up. Great service, great food, great experience!
Again, we have a very enjoyable dinner experience. There is seating both indoors and out. Indoors captures the essence of Stella's more than outdoors which is mostly an accommodation for Covid.
Absolutely lovely, great setting for brunch and very Covid safe option even for indoor dining.
Impecable service, beautiful location, superb food!
Great service, good wine, one of the best restaurant atmospheres in SB.
Not cheap but worth it.
Our waiter was very attentive and excellent. The food was good (sole meuniere), but served on ice cold plates which really detracted for our enjoyment. It could have been so much better served on warm plates!
Our only other complaint are the sagging chair seats, which desperately need new seat cushions.
Overall it was an enjoyable meal.
Best restaurant ever. You're going to love the food. I recommend sitting outside, it's beautiful.
It seems that Ownership and menu changed. Beautiful restaurant food quality not good like before. I ordered steak frites and asked for meat to be med. well. My dinner was brought 10 min. after the other 3 we were with and totally raw (rare). I asked again they took it back and then brought me a piece of inedible rubber. Very disappointed to say the least. Definitely not worth their new prices or even old prices.
Oeuf mimosa was just ok; no taste of homard at all
New York steak, medium rare, was impossible to chew. French fries from frozen package.
Sole meunier was well cook but the potatoes around it was soaking in the lemon juice.
The desert, chocolate ice cream was plain small balls of ice cream, no whip, no decoration; on the menu this dessert was described with 3 sentences of different ingredients that I looked for it when I received the dish :(
Overall this restaurant is over rated!
We've been dining at Stella Mare's for years, and love it. Two things this time that were not so good..
1. We were seated promptly, dining room was not close to full yet we were forgotten. 20+ minutes after sitting down, someone in our party had to hunt down and ask for a waitress. People who arrived later, next table, were had their drinks while we still waited for someone to attend to our table.
2. The solarium is our favorite spot. It is still very pleasant, but we were quite disappointed to find they've removed white linens from the tables! Looks more like a casual lunch place now. Big mistake.
Food is amazing, wait for the food is incredibly long and the service is subpar.
The food and service were excellent - just like before the pandemic.
Not a fan of the new menu - it's too limiting and not enough options for medium priced meals, as it used to have.
Fabulous food and service. The sole meunière was terrific.
Absolutely the best meal for my 70th bday! I had the Sole and my husband had the French onion soup and endive salad. Couldn’t have been better! And they gave us free champagne and choc torte!!! Very excellent waiter.
Fish didn’t taste fresh and the steak was chewy.
Beautiful setting, we sat in a small relatively enclosed room with only two tables, and the other one remained unoccupied the entire time. Service was extremely helpful, and they checked-in every 10 minutes or so, which I had been concerned about, since we were in a semi-private room, but they really had their act together.
The food was typical french, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable. We would definitely return whenever we are in the area.
This restaurant was by far one on the greatest French restaurants I have been to. The food was incredible I had the duck ala orange we hitch was cooked perfectly. The onion soup was fantastic the duck burger was delicious. The Berry dessert was wonderful.
Date with 91 year old Mom.
She loved it!
Used to love the food here but it has not been as good since Covid. Love the ambiance. Hope the food returns to previous high level.
Great outdoor space. Friendly server. Very good food,
Great service and great food!
Very good food, friendly and competent service, reasonably priced wine list. What more could you ask for?
A little noisy outside due to proximity to freeway, but otherwise a great choice for brunch.
With a reservation and 10 minutes early, we were sat in the hot, loud and uncomfortable atrium.I definitely made the reservation for either in or outside since my open table said the reservation had been changed. It would have been 30 min. to one hour wait for outside or another room. Yet the man right after us was asked if he wanted in or out(?!!) and was sat outside immediately. I had also requested a larger supportive chair due to back injury. There was nothing in that atrium but unsteady wooden chairs. The service was abysmal since we had to ask SEVERAL TIMES for water, tea, and coffee. We were sitting in that atrium from 1 until 3 and it felt much longer. The entrees were fair to good, and the appetizer eggs were ridiculously expensive for the quantity. The worst thing was truly having to request basics so many times and then waiting and waiting and waiting and requesting a second or third time. We waited at least 30 min. for our entrees. The wait person was Carol. On top of such a poor dining experience, I found I had left my card in the bill/check wallet. This was a hot exhausting mess for my 92 year young mom and Aunt visiting from Washington state. The day before we had brunch at El Encanto and your establishment could learn a great deal about service from this great hotel. You lost a great many potential customers with the shoddy treatment we received. The dessert was the only positive note after it was doctored up. I normally would have left and did not want to inconvenience my elderly mom. By the time we left, I did not have the energy to seek out the manager about our service.
Excellent food but have had better service for a special occasion. They forgot my cocktail but took it off the bill. They confused our table with another and thought it was someone else’s birthday when it was mine. We ordered dessert and finished it but then they came out with a birthday dessert when we were already stuffed and couldn’t enjoy what looked like an excellent chocolate mousse.
