Outstanding view from patio. Seafood menu items prices slightly on the high side but good quality meals.
Takes a long time to get food and drinks. Food is pretty average, but the views are nice!
Great food and great atmosphere . Lovely place on the waterfront
We’ve been to the Steamship Grill several times, as well as taken visitors, and it never disappoints. The harbour view from the patio is beautiful, the food all round was delicious and the service was great. It’s one of our favourite places!
Last couple of times we have been to Steamship we have found the patio to be unkept. Garbage on the floor, not swept up. Yesterday covid mask on the floor, window on patio not cleaned. Food was great.
This is a great place for tourists if you are able to get a table with a view of the harbor. The food is mediocre, the service is next to none. You won't receive refills on water, cutlery, or cracked pepper for your food unless you ask. They hire a bunch of kids who don't really care about customer service.
Great patio and helpful service. Tuna Tataki was very tasty
We were greeted immediately and sat by the harbour with beautiful views. Our waiter was very kind. We all ordered clam chowder as a start unfortunately mine was not hot however luck warm, the waiter was responsive and immediately brought a warmer one.
My partner ordered the margarita pizza, it was tasteless and sad. We ordered steak with shrimp which were cooked perfectly. The mash was not very tasty, lacked Salt and flavour.
Overall, the ambiance was fabulous and the food was okay.
Food was good and reasonably priced. The service was a little slow. Lacked some atmosphere inside but would return
We waited 1 1/2 hours to get our dinner. The restaurant was not that full.
When I reminded our waitress about our order it came right away, although pastas were not that hot.
3 wines we were interested in were not available.
Lovely place though for location.
A great selection of food choices for any palette and both presentation and taste were excellent. We shared the coconut prawns, crab cakes and the harvest bowl for lunch. Enjoyed the patio with great inner harbor views. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
Really enjoyed the shrimp tacos and the fish and chips!
Need to clean their beer 🍺 lines more often. Otherwise food was good and great views from the patio.
Would go back again but gotta say musty beer.
The view is incredibly amazing.
Seafood like mussels and fish and chips are delicious
Used Open Table for reservation. Seated promptly at a gorgeous harbourside table. Food and drinks were excellent. All except the Creme Brûlée dessert. The sugar on top had been carmelized too long and tasted a little burnt. I would go there again hands down !
Food was ok. Steak lacked seasoning and was slightly tough. Potatoes also just weren’t quite seasoned properly. Creme Brûlée was alittle better but still far from perfect.
We had an outstanding meal and service last night on the patio. It was a beautiful evening and our server Rebecca was on point for everything. Also kudos to the two cooks that handled the entire dinner crowd on their own. Our meal was fabulous, thank you.
We had a very satisfactory and enjoyable meal and dining experience.
The servers and hostesses were amazing, they really try hard to accommodate everyone, especially Cassandra who is the best multi-tasker I ever met, and ensured everyone was warm and comfortable bringing heaters and getting them lighted. This is a casual eatery with a great location right on the water close to the inner harbour in an old steamship terminal. We were not eating inside since we havent yet taken the plunge re covid. A lot of the food has spicy ingredients, so that will limit some palates. You will likely find something on the varied menu. The patio is vast. The wines are local, and pretty good. Yes, I would recommend.
Great venue and view. Menu is more grill than fine dining.
Great view, delicious food and friendly service. Did not disappoint.
Overall okay, but not great. The food was good, but for a place right on the waterfront they had limited local seafood options. Service was polite enough but VERY slow. The food didn’t come out quickly, the drink refill offers were infrequent, and it just generally felt like there wasn’t enough staff working. The place wasn’t particularly busy, and they did seem to have a bunch of servers, so it’s weird that they all seemed to be distracted and inattentive.
If you don’t mind slow service and want to sit on the water in a historic building, this may not be a bad choice.
Horrible, service and horrible food!
Our server kept forgetting what we were ordering instead of her taking notes, she forgot!
She also dropped the ranch dressing of our appetizer on our Guest pants!!
Our food was very much delayed!
And our steak was as hard as a rock and it didn’t have any sauce coming with it!
Overall we do not recommend this restaurant to anyone and it’s our first and last time visiting it!
Too cold on on the patio. While they did turn on the overhead heaters and offer blankets; we had to ask for it. It wasn’t volunteered.
The food was tasty but again it cooled down too quickly with the ocean breeze.
So some aspects 4/5 and some 3/5.
The kitchen was out of most things we wanted to order and it was only 7:30pm, closing was 10pm. I ordered a “Sicilian” pizza and was met with something disappointing. The waitress was kind enough to remove the dish from my bill after I had only taken one bite the entire night. I hope the kitchen is able to review and revise the menu a little bit and help improve my next experience with Steamship bar and grill.
The service was very scattered and our server was not knowledgeable about the food or wine. We had to try three times to order a bottle of wine since they were out of almost everything in their very meagre selection. Food was good bit slow to arrive. Sitting on the patio over the harbour was nice. Disappointed overall though.
Got no dipping sauce with the coconut shrimp .... just an empty cup. Hubby ordered his 2nd beer (same as the first) and got a totally different kind. We have been several times before as we live in Victoria, but this was the worst by far.
Poke bowl rice hard and in clumps. Sauce extremely salty.
Eggs Benny cooked too hard.
Latte and hot chocolates took 15 min to arrive .
Table felt like a cafeteria.
Decent food, great views. Nothing special as there are lots of places that have a higher quality menu and execution capabilities. All and all decent food for decent prices.
A wait to get our food and not everything came at the same time. Unfortunately, some food sat at the table while all people were waiting to be served. Nice ambiance and the heaters were nice to combat the cooler temps. Nice to get out again 😊
Such yummy food, great patio location, wonderful service. Top rate all round! Will definitely be returning!
Food was not good, and the patio was filthy. Birds were eating food off the ground and the patio looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in ages as there was dirt and bird droppings everywhere.
We went for Happy Hour and thought followed by dinner. We asked about the seared sushi, which the waiter recommended - and yes was very unique & good. Unfortunately that's where it ended. The calamari was 60% deep-fried onion and jalapeno bits (can't even honestly say that many pieces), maybe 20%calamari pieces and the rest just deep-fried batter pieces. It felt as if our order was from the bottom of the deep fryer or a big batch where all the good pieces were gone. Very greasy and no flavour. Service was ok - not very attentive - nevermind they cleared a table for us, yet no one came back to wipe it or bring menus. We finally had to go and get someone. Needless to say we felt that was enough from there and didn't stay for dinner!
Well equipped patio with lots of shade - a bonus for us. Food and service was great. And you can't beat the view.
I usually enjoy our experience with this restaurant but not last night due to unnecessary inflexibility of the server. soon after we sat down a much more desirable table became free. When asked the server said we could not change because it would cause backup for other diners. Over the next few minutes four more desirable tables became available and only a couple were filled by new diners. The others remained empty all the time we were in the restaurant. The website also says they cannot guarantee a table on the patio and it is first come first served. We were already there and no one else was waiting. This servers inflexibility spoiled the entire evening and I will not return to the restaurant. Her reasoning had no substance in reality.
The seafood chowder and fresh rolls were amazing. Sitting on the patio and enjoying the harbour was a quitisential BC coast activity. Thank you for the great service.
Amazing server !! Great food!!! Loved the location!
Excellent service. Delicious food. Great view of the harbour. We'll def return.
Everything was excellent. We went at happy hour and had the California Japanese Seared Mayo Sushi, Hummus with pita bread, and from regular menu West Coast Salmon bowl. We were lucky enough to get a table outside with a view of the harbour.
