Nowhere to hang your coat? Server was not very knowledgeable or engaging (except when they interrupted our discussion).
My girlfriend came over from Richmond to spend the day. She hadn’t been here before. The location and ambiance was lovely. We both had the salad with the quinoa, cranberries and feta with rice and salmon on top. The rice was lukewarm and tasted stale and re heated to me, as was the salmon. It was also over done and dry. I didn’t complain because I would have been embarrassed to do that on this special occasion with my friend, so I didn’t want to cause a scene. The wine wasn’t bad, and we did have a lovely visit, but I was disappointed that my lunch wasn’t better, especially since it was quite expensive, I’m a fairly new resident in Victoria and live close by your restaurant. I’d been looking forward to trying it, but I can’t honestly say I’ll be back.
This is a great waterfront location for outdoor patio dining. Located on the inner harbour has both indoor and outdoor option. easy walking from town, and James Bay area. Although weather was somewhat cool with light showers, we chose the outdoor area. Views and ambience are very nice and with the heaters was very comfortable. Service was great, no rushing nor long waits considering the 630 time we had.
Pleasant staff and accommodating. Choice on menu was diverse with seafood, beef and, chicken as well, all was very fresh, locally sourced and cooked to individual liking, was very very good. Pricing was what expected, with a perfect sirloin being 26$. Fish & Chips was cod, told was very good but wished there was the halibut choice as mentioned online "about us" information. That was the only disappointment. I and my dining companions would certainly recommend this restaurant.
Thanks you for a nice dining experience.

We dined during happy hour on the outdoor patio. Everything was great!
Great choice in downtown Victoria. Reasonable prices (for a “tourist area), great food, friendly and attentive service and overall good value very close to our hotel (walking distance). I highly recommend.
Our server was terrific, and the food was good. The bartender's first attempt at an old-fashioned was awful but the second attempt was good.
The ambience is just okay for dinner. There are a lot of places in Victoria I would go to instead of returning to Steamship.
Steamship was great. What didn't work was booking through opentable. Steamship Grill and Bar accomodated us eventhough, they had not received our reservation (I was able to show the reservation on my phone).
Server was lovely
Food was terrific
Wine was delicious
I love Steamship
Best tuna poke bowl that I have ever tasted. Excellent service. My first choice for dinner the next time I visit Victoria.
We had a reservation When we showed up the place was nearly empty and yet we were asked to wait in the hallway. We asked to wait at the bar instead and she had to ask permission. Once at the bar our server was great. Didn’t get his name, Australian fellow. Food was good. The place needs a facelift, it looks like an old bus station. Cheap uncomfortable chairs and industrial looking booths. Even though I made it very clear it was a birthday, nothing was done to recognize the occasion. We will not return.
Worst restaurant in Victoria. We had dinner on their patio. Space was so tight. The guy behind me is basically leaning on me. We had to wait 45 mins for our food. They were overcooked and bland. Sangria was a joke.
Great menu with lots of choices. Outstanding evening view of the harbour and our server Naomi was fantastic.
Generous portions of salads with delicious west coast salmon made for a very enjoyable lunch with a friend. We sat outside and the heater was offered for extra comfort if we wanted it. Service was friendly and courteous. Definitely would go again.
Ordered an appy, salad and main but mentioned to the waitress that we were wanting more time between courses to enjoy the patio view and the wine. The appy came then almost immediately the salad. The main came out right away as well.
She only poured our first glass of wine and none after that. Also she did not come to ask how our meal was.
We give this service 2... very disappointed especially for the price we paid.
Love Steamship Grill. Food is always fantastic. Best fish tacos in the city. Our server was lovely. Happy Hour prices are fantastic!
Everything was wonderful! The crab cakes were yummy! The the steak was cooked perfectly!
Delicious food - we enjoyed the james bay beef burger and the vegan burger. The beer selection is pretty limited... I think they might be catering more to the wine drinkers. The happy hour isn't that impressive - they only offer one beer and $11 appies, but the dinner/meal prices are reasonable. Great view from the patio and the inside is very open/spacious. Excellent service every time we go there.
Great dinner on the patio with an amazing view of the harbour.
Service was friendly, prompt and efficient. The food was delicious. All in all a very satisfying experience. We were able to sit on the patio with nice views of the inner harbour.
Had dinner with three fiends visiting Victoria. Loved the setting our waiter was excellent. One issue, the platforms anchoring the heaters were a bit of an obstacle and must make it especially challenging for the servers.
Food was very good - but they were understaffed and we waited too long between appetizers and entrees
Outstanding view from patio. Seafood menu items prices slightly on the high side but good quality meals.
Takes a long time to get food and drinks. Food is pretty average, but the views are nice!
Great food and great atmosphere . Lovely place on the waterfront
We’ve been to the Steamship Grill several times, as well as taken visitors, and it never disappoints. The harbour view from the patio is beautiful, the food all round was delicious and the service was great. It’s one of our favourite places!
Last couple of times we have been to Steamship we have found the patio to be unkept. Garbage on the floor, not swept up. Yesterday covid mask on the floor, window on patio not cleaned. Food was great.
This is a great place for tourists if you are able to get a table with a view of the harbor. The food is mediocre, the service is next to none. You won't receive refills on water, cutlery, or cracked pepper for your food unless you ask. They hire a bunch of kids who don't really care about customer service.
Great patio and helpful service. Tuna Tataki was very tasty
We were greeted immediately and sat by the harbour with beautiful views. Our waiter was very kind. We all ordered clam chowder as a start unfortunately mine was not hot however luck warm, the waiter was responsive and immediately brought a warmer one.
My partner ordered the margarita pizza, it was tasteless and sad. We ordered steak with shrimp which were cooked perfectly. The mash was not very tasty, lacked Salt and flavour.
Overall, the ambiance was fabulous and the food was okay.
Food was good and reasonably priced. The service was a little slow. Lacked some atmosphere inside but would return
We waited 1 1/2 hours to get our dinner. The restaurant was not that full.
When I reminded our waitress about our order it came right away, although pastas were not that hot.
3 wines we were interested in were not available.
Lovely place though for location.
A great selection of food choices for any palette and both presentation and taste were excellent. We shared the coconut prawns, crab cakes and the harvest bowl for lunch. Enjoyed the patio with great inner harbor views. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
Really enjoyed the shrimp tacos and the fish and chips!
Need to clean their beer 🍺 lines more often. Otherwise food was good and great views from the patio.
Would go back again but gotta say musty beer.
The view is incredibly amazing.
Seafood like mussels and fish and chips are delicious
Used Open Table for reservation. Seated promptly at a gorgeous harbourside table. Food and drinks were excellent. All except the Creme Brûlée dessert. The sugar on top had been carmelized too long and tasted a little burnt. I would go there again hands down !
Food was ok. Steak lacked seasoning and was slightly tough. Potatoes also just weren’t quite seasoned properly. Creme Brûlée was alittle better but still far from perfect.
We had an outstanding meal and service last night on the patio. It was a beautiful evening and our server Rebecca was on point for everything. Also kudos to the two cooks that handled the entire dinner crowd on their own. Our meal was fabulous, thank you.
