Great experience. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was so delicious and exciting to try everything!
Too expensive, too noisy, very small portions, do not like having another table 4 inches from our table.
I was still hungry when we left.
Unique and memorable flavors and combinations. Looks like they are changing things up here in the near future. Hope they continue the tasting menu.
Perhaps the most fantastic dining experience I’ve ever had.
It was good overall. I heard this is a new chef/owner but wanted to give it a try regardless as I was visiting from out of town. He is young and he got 3 out of the 5 courses spot-on and was great at explaining each meal and fielding questions. The manager was great as she took the time with every table and did her homework with every guest prior to our arrival to make a great birthday night.
Awesome experience! We loved it. The food was amazing and completely local.
This was our first time at State & Lemp with the new owner & chef at the helm. I’m happy to report that our dinner was spectacular! Multiple times since we’ve talked about when we can go back. Many items on the menu were grown in the owner’s garden, others sourced locally. Wine pairings were on point. Go eat here! You won’t be disappointed!
This was our first visit under new ownership. Having eaten here several times over the last 3-4 years (regular and Supper Club seatings), we were really disappointed. This visit we had 9:00 Supper Club reservations. The amuse and first two of five courses were very good. Wine pairing pours were significantly smaller than all previous visits (maybe 2oz each). Portion sizes very small including the main course. We actually were hungry when we left. Only 3 of 5 food courses were explained and only 2 of the wines were described (despite there only being 2 two-tops and 2 single diners in the entire restaurant). Service was very rushed (welcome champagne finished, five courses eaten, check paid and out the door by 10:15). Sadly, we don't plan on returning anytime soon.
Enjoyed the whole experience from the food to the people we ate with. All top notch.
If you are into culinary experiences this is an absolute must while in Boise.
My guest and I were absolutely blown away by our experience. The thought and detail that went into the dishes and pairings was wildly evident. The staff was passionate and knowledgeable about everything they served. Price point was more affordable than a comparable experience in any other city. Highly recommend, 10/10 evening.
Very good food, should consider if special set-up for seating (no privacy) is suited for the planned occasion.
We enjoyed the menu and farm-to-table choices, charming setting, and . The price was fair for the extensive, delicious selections;wine samplings with each course were refilled glasses generously, and staff was very friendly.
Having also enjoyed high-end farm-to-table evenings at Herb Farm (Woodinville) and smaller venues, I think staff here could up the ante with a slightly longer, extensive discussion of the menu and wine pairings. While they did share a bit, it was more perfunctory. Its too bad the owners don't have time to share time with the guests.
Even with new owners the flavor and vibe has continued. I’ll have to try another meal and different menu options to give a more thorough review. At State and Lemp your tastebuds never know what to expect except goodness.
State and Lemp was pretty great for Boise, if this was in NYC my rating would be a 3-4 hence my rating but in Boise it could be a 5.
A Unique Gem in Boise.
The menu is fixed and the price is high, but very with it. There are 5 courses with wine pairings as an option. You can view the menu on the restaurants website. The small space makes for an intimate dining experience where you will get to know your fellow diners.
Everything tastes amazing! One of the reasons for this is because this is a farm to table restaurant. The portions aren't big, but satisfying. The servers explain what you are eating before each course and there are culinary surprises along the way.
Cannot wait to go back!
Fantastic and unique. A special restaurant with wonderful food.
The food was exceptional. Every dish featured perfectly balanced flavor combinations, with ingredients prepped to maximize flavor and texture. Flavors that you wouldn’t expect to go together married perfectly. Each dish was beautifully plated and brought a new intense palate experience. My only two complaints are that the chairs are very uncomfortable and the tables are too close together. Not a complaint, but just be aware, the portions are small - you are paying for quality, not quantity. If you hurry through your meal or don’t pay attention to what you are eating, you will not experience the value. Don’t expect to be over full at the end. Expect to be satisfied.
The food was fairly tasty but not outstanding. 5 small courses and wine pairing optional for an additional fee. I think this might be a once a year or once every couple of years dining experience for us, $160+ for 2 not including drinks or significant portions is a bit steep. I would be happy to pay for food and an experience that would blow me away, I guess I was just expecting more. We did enjoy the group dining aspect. Talking to new couples having the same experience was very fun.
I took my daughter here for her birthday. Everything was wonderful! The food and wine pairings were beautiful, tasty and surprisingly filling. The service was superb. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and I will definitely be back!
An amazing experience. Loved everything about the place, people and food. It’s unfortunate that a group of idiots can ruin an amazing evening. S&L you were fantastic. The group next to us, not so much.
State and Lemp is by far the most sophisticated restaurant in Boise. The food was artfully presented and every taste is a delight. The wine pairings are perfect as well. The new owners have stepped in and are flawlessly maintaining the high quality cuisine. State and Lemp has beautiful decor, and well appointed space, but the noise level is a bit much for our tastes, and hearing capacity. It would be perfect if they could install a bit of sound-dampening fixtures.
Unbelievable! Outstanding! One of the best experiences I've had in years.
The community table and 9:00 seating provided very little opportunity for me to converse with my wife on her birthday. It all felt a little bit rushed and conversation was dominated by the party to my left. At one point I had to suggest we not talk about anything political, even though we both support similar political ideals. I believe it would be a better place for a absolute with no real opportunity for intimacy on a special occasion.
We were on vacation and an accaintance in Boise recommended restaurant. It is indeed unique but my husband and I thought the portions were extremely small, a little far out in ingredients and the dessert was awful.
Incredible and special place that lived up to all its hype. Took my sweetie here to celebrate selling my house. I'll never forget this special dinner.
Very unique fine dining. Each dish is meticulously prepared with the finest and unique ingredients. Definitely a special place to take someone on a special occasion.
Good meal. Small portions
Swan Song Dinner. They were surly playin our song last Thursday - thanks S&L — see you in your next reincarnation.
Very easily the best food in Boise. You will have flavors and ingredients that you can't fine anywhere else. You will walk away wishing you could eat like this more often. Some of the dishes (like the Zabuton steak) really are a once in lifetime experience. This is a bucket list type of restaurant, a must go.
Chef Komori and his crew make magic happen. They are truly gifted.
Noisy, definitely not what we expected. Food was different but not as tasty as we would have expected either. Community table again was not what we expected or wanted for our anniversary. Overall disappointed.
When the best “course” is wine or bread, you know you’re in trouble. Presentation was beautiful, service excellent but menu needs work. Chef needs to focus more on taste. Courses should not feel so contrived. Lamb was over-cooked & dessert was a pizza. Time to get rethink.
Everything about this place from the moment we entered the restaurant was nothing like I expected. Upon entering we were greeted with a sparkling wine and asked to wander around to look at the art. It was the artist's featured there that evening who were the muse for the menu. As we located our seat there was a very special little card that said State and Lemp welcomes [our names] and it also said Happy Anniversary, because that's what we were celebrating. It was really lovely. I ordered the wine pairing and really enjoyed the small pour to go with each of the five courses. After each dish was plated and served, someone stood at the end of the table and talked about the ingredients and why this dish was picked based on an interview with the artist. So different, right? As far as the food, hardly anything appeared to resemble what I'm used to seeing, but after tasting it, the flavors came through. Everything was lovely - it was as if we were dining at the home of a good friend. A good friend who prepares food v-e-r-y w-e-l-l that is. At the salt bowl was a little spoon. You know those spoons people collect from different cities and states. Well ours was Las Vegas and the waiter told us that's where we're going next. It was a really cute conversation piece. He received a bunch I understand from his grandmother. I thought everything was really lovely and enjoyed myself immensely.
Unique culinary experience! Great personal attention, themed meals.
Outstanding experience. Excellent food, very creative menu. Good wine pairing. Superb service.
Worth it! Quality service. Creative art and food married into tasty dishes. Great conversations with neighbors sitting next to us on both sides.
Super solid. Worth the trip if you are craving a fun and personal dining experience. Great food & wine pairings. These guys have got a really great thing that you should get out and enjoy.
This is a great value for molecular gastronomy!
