In addition to street parking, there is a public parking garage located directly behind the hotel. After parking in the garage, simply cross the bridge that spans the creek towards the hotel. The service was terrible. The waitress seemed to have an attitude . Wine by the glass was very expensive, $13.00 per glass for a average Cab. The food was mediocre to say the best.
I don,t know what happened to this restaurant . We've been here many times before and it used to be one of our favorites. After Valentines evening, it is now on my "no go" list.
Arrived at 5:20 for 5:30 reservation, seated in small private room, service kinda rough getting going even though we were about the only ones in there. Finally got our order in, noticed large group arriving AFTER our order was placed, turned out it was a group of 75. Took a while to get cocktails and by 6:20 we had finished the one salad we ordered, main course didn't arrive till 6:40ish (after I went looking for someone to say we had been waiting quite sometime). Food was mediocre, wife's scallops warm not hot. Waiter made 2 trips to bring entrees with slight delay in between.
I making the reservation or getting seated no one ever mentioned that there might be delay to due large party.
For me, this place is better for drink and french dip sandwich in the bar.
Limited menu for Christmas Eve. Selection of 3 apprtizetd, dalads & main course. Was not busy and service was slow and had to remind of cocktail ordered. Food was just adequate. The value wad aiye overpriced I feel. There were 3 of us and with cocktails the bill was over $250. Will go again however due do the history of building.
The fruit was soggy, disgusting and inedible. The grilled cheese, which I had remembered as being the best in Amador Co, was at best "meh"; it was NOT tasty. The crab sandwich was also "meh." The servers were pleasant, even tho one person's lunch was substantially delayed past the serving to all other members of our party. Not a nice experience for that person; too bad; no recompense. They didn't even offer anything to tide him over; instead, they ignored him. Not a lot of caring for customers exhibited here.
Our intent was to have a nice Christmas luncheon in the best restaurant in Jackson. We were way disappointed, in the food and the service.
Food was excellent but service was poor. We didn't see our waiter from the time he delivered our appetizers to the time he brought the desert menu. He never stopped by to ask how the steak was cooked, never refilled our water or asked if we wanted another drink.
The food was excellent and the service was very good. They did not get a five-star on overall because when I went online to take a pre-look at the menu on December 1st. The menu came back with a note that they were "Actively working on their new Fall menu for 2017" ~ sorry, that ship already sailed since it is now almost Winter. I let the Hostess know and she was going to tell the Manager.
On Service, the only reason they didn't get five stars was because the waitress came and asked us if we would like another round. We stated we would and 15 minutes went by while we both continued to eat. The waitress came by and my husband cancelled his beer. You could tell she was a little miffed and pressured him to take it and he responded "No, I'm finished with my meal now." She then went and brought my wine as I was still eating. In fairness, I know they pick up the drinks from the bar so I'm not sure if she forgot to pick them up or the bartender got behind. And all other service she provided was timely.
The service in the restaurant was excellent, very accommodating and attentive. We each ordered prime rib and it was disappointing. It had no flavor at all and while excepting tender it could been even more so. When I pay $100+ for dinner for two, one glass of house wine and a simple gin and tonic I expect perfection in the meat. Whole we paid over $100 for this meal we did not feel it was a $100 meal.
The steak were tender and cooked to perfections. We liked the soup and salad dishes, too. It is located in an old hotel that had been completed remodeled to look very Gold County/Western. They have delicious local wines available. The local zinfandel is perfect with steak. The staff is friendly and attentive.
Our first visit was not as good as we thought it would be. My husband got his salad and he was almost done before I received my soup that I had to ask for. His baked potato was only partially cooked and cold. I had to ask two times for sour cream that I had included in my order. My husbands prime rib was very good. The brussel sprouts were wonderful. We will go back again because we never judge a restaurant by only one visit.
My second time here, on a business trip. Had NY steak (12 oz), confetti (vegetable) salad, a baked potato, a glass of wine, and chocolate toffee cake. Salad was ordinary; potato was, well, a baked potato. The steak was flavorful and prepared properly for medium rare. However, it showed little marbling. It looked more like a sirloin that NY. It was a bit chewy as a result. Still, a pretty decent steak. The cake was just too intense. It was soooo sweet that I could only eat about half, and really the sweet overwhelmed the chocolate flavor. The toffee flavor was barely detectable. The oreo type crust didn't help. Back to the drawing board on that one. The wine was actually quite good and $11. Overall, a decent meal and one of only a handful of options in Jackson, CA. My first meal here was better. Service was average. With 15% tip, about $76.
We came here for our anniversary. I wanted a good steak and this was the only place that came up on google for Jackson. After assuming the entrance was on Water Street, since that is the address, we discovered we needed to enter from the side. A very nondescript entrance. The overall atmosphere was fine, although the wall sconces could use a good cleaning. The waiter Jordan and his assistant were pleasant and just the right amount of attentive. I ordered the rib eye medium and my husband had the sirloin medium well. Both were cooked perfectly and delicious but our meal was delayed because the sirloin needed longer cooking. So timing could be improved. The sautéed zucchini with onions and red bell peppers was ok. My husband didn’t eat his as he doesn’t like zucchini or onions. My loaded baked potato was good with cheese and bacon. My husband liked his mashed potatoes. We had the chocolate moose ccaramel cake...super rich and yummy. Glad we shared.
Final bill was $96 for two steak dinners, tea and sprite and the cake. Not a horrible cost but not a weekly splurge.
We will return for their Sunday brunch and for dinner for another special occasion.
I have mixed feelings about the restaurant. My food was superb, my husbands was not. His baked potato was over cooked., rib eye was very salty. We chalked his meal up to not reading the entrée description. The service however left much to be desired. When two meals with one glass of wine cost $100, I expect service to make up what may have been lacking in the meal. This was not the case. Our waiter spent half of his time going out the back door to visit. We informed him at the start this was our wedding anniversary so perhaps I expected him to check back occasionally. After completing our meal I asked for a to go container, it took 20 plus minutes for the server to bring it. She remarked she had forgotten. With the box of food on the table our waiter still took 15 minutes to return to ask about dessert. I informed him that I felt like a red headed step child and would like our check.
We went for the first time to celebrate our anniversary. We were seated quickly, given very discrete but attentive service. There sufficient staff that no waiting for assistance was ever required. Our server was outstanding. The meal was well done and worth the price. The desert was unbelievably delicious; finished every bite even though the meal was really sufficient. It was a special occasion you know. It was a simply outstanding evening and thanks to Stanley's and their super staff; table side and kitchen alike.
A special occasion, took my two daughters out for birthday dinner's. Was very crowded, had large groups in side rooms, probably accounts for the very , very slow service. The food was marginal at best, mashed potatoes were cold and Brussel sprouts were hard. My daughter ordered the T-bone special, 3/4 of the filet portion was gone. I am a local person and had anticipated a good meal, as advertised, very disappointing.
We were totally satisfied and pleased with our experience at Stanley's Steakhouse. Everything was perfect from the staff, to the surroundings, to the delicious food and special cocktails. It was a first class experience. We truly appreciate the friendly and professional staff. Food was the best I have ever had anywhere.
When I first tried the steakhouse I was expecting another clichéd, dusty, small town steakhouse. Just one visit to Stanley's steakhouse and they have a customer for life. The staff is probably the most friendly conversational staff I've ever dined with. The steaks can be a little pricey but well worth every penny.
I have been coming here for over five years. Maybe this review is a bit critical but when you are paying the prices demanded these days I expect a little better. The food was, as it always is, on point. Everything came out as expected and was tasty. I think I am just getting bored with the menu and which it would change a little more often. Or offer more exciting specials. The big downfall, as with most places I have been lately is the service. Again if they expect me to pay this much I expect never to have to ask for a drink to be refilled, I had to ask 4 times. Work on the little things and more stars will be easy to get. I will be back and still recommend this place to anyone.
My filet was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. It was served with garlic mash and nicely grilled brussel sprouts. My husband's chicken with pesto pasta was delicious. The old dining room is under the street level. I had a nicely chilled Pinot Grigio from the bar.
It was just okay. Granted, it was Mother's Day and they had a special menu, but it should not have taken 20 minutes to get a drink when we were the second table seated in the entire restaurant at 5:00. It was another 20 minutes after we had finished and the table was cleared before we were able to pay for our meal and we were seated near the service station. We spent 40 minutes total with nothing to do save drink water.
I've been there before for lunch and at the bar for a cocktail. This was the first time for dinner and took our Mom for Mother's day dinner. Everything was fine, except for our waiter. I don't recall his name. But it kind of ruined our experience. The place wasn't overly crowded by any means. It picked up a little later in the evening. So why did it take 1/2 our to get our cocktails? He blamed the bartender. We ordered bruschetta. Before it arrived, we noticed that other guests were served a bread basket w/butter. When our appetizer finally arrived, we asked where was our bread. The waiter looked confused, as he was holding our bruschetta saying "Well, its right here. They burned the first ones." We pointed out that other people got a bread basket and we did not. He then shouted out to a busboy to go get our bread. He was so arrogant, unprofessional, and hardly present. We had other waitresses and staff come by more than he did. Yes, I will come back. We all enjoyed the meal. BUT, if he is ever around I will not tolerate being served by him ever again.
