Stanley's steakhouse is really a great place to eat. It is easily the best place in the Jackson, the county seat. Located inside a gold rush era hotel, on picturesque Main St., this place has something for everyone. The bar is fantastic and the friendly service can not be beat! But the reason you go out to a restaurant is to eat, right? The menu here reflects the creativity of the chef, and offers some unique dishes not found elsewhere. The value is definitely worth giving this place a try.
Service was very friendly and moderately fast. It was really busy causing staff to hustle. Couple things were overlooked because of it like bread dishes and bread but brought when we asked. Food was very good. Took a chance on the Brussels sprouts appetizer - fantastic! Mains were plated with care and creativity. The Wellington was cooked to perfection. NOTE: bring a sweater, just in case your in the vicinity of one of the over-efficient A/C's.
It is a neat location and I give the friendly staff an A for effort but, by their own admission, they were understaffed on a busy night. It took too long to order and too long to get our food. From a food standpoint, my husband ordered the lamb and it was excellent. I had a wedge salad (very good) and the ribeye. The steak itself was a good cut of meat and well seasoned but I ordered medium rare and got medium to medium well. It still tasted good, so I ate it. We would go back. If it's a weekend, just don't be in a hurry....
Wedge steak salad small. Food was ordinary. Good service. Maybe I was there in an off day?
Another delicious meal at Stanley's! Stanley visited us at our table, and this always adds to the experience.
The food was excellent but the service was mediocre at best. We weren't sure what kind of wine we wanted until after we ordered our entrees and had to flag a bus boy down to get someone to take our wine order. We saw bread on other tables and finally asked the same bus boy if we could have bread too (this was after our salad course). We barely saw our server. Good food overall but dreadful service.
Great atmosphere food was really good. Taylor was accommodating and very sweet. Great wine cellar!
The food was absolutely delicious. I am vegan- our waitress Hailey was so accommodating and was able to have the chef provide me with a fantastic vegan dish. We will definitely be back for a visit soon. Thank you!
Set in the most beautiful hotel! The service was excellent! The food was wonderful! The aged ribeye was the best I have ever had. The wedge salad was just delightful and the shrimp cocktail was excellent also. Our party of nine was the really happy
Birthday celebration multiple people asked if we were celebrating anything but then nothing ever happened no birthday anything. The food was not as good as it has been in the past.
Stanley’s Steakhouse had wonderful, friendly staff! We really enjoyed our visit!!!
We ordered the evening special and our meals were delicious. The only disappointment was they did not have the wine I wanted even though it was on the wine menu. They need to update the wine menu.
Delicious food that you want to lick the plate! Everything was great! Fun time. We enjoyed a fun filled girls weekend there. National Hotel is great!
Took my wife here for Mother’s Day dinner. We both enjoyed our meal. The prices are a little high but the quality of the overall meal and service was with it!
Mothers Day Brunch was excellent. Great variety of quality food.
This was not bad for a Mothers Day buffet and we would probably go again. The reason i did not give it a higher rating in some areas is because they put us outside in the sun and it was very uncomfortable especially for older people.
The food is excellent. The staff was stretched far too thin, and everyone was waiting for drinks or food or their check, as the staff had far too many customers to d al with. Poor management is clearly at fault.
If you go, I HIGHLY recommend eating in the bar.
Service is better there, yet still, overworked and understaffed.
We won’t go again to the main dining room or courtyard.
Management needs to staff extra qualified staff for busy times!
The food was excellent however the service was a little slow. We had asked for three salads and a soup. The soup was delivered 15 minutes after getting our salads and we had to ask for the soup as well. I would go back and try it again for a second chance .
Nice place, good food. Went on a Saturday and not too crowded. Slow service for some reason. As a party of six, we ended up being there for 2 hours. Will try them again in hopes of more timely service.
I love this restaurant. The food is fabulous, the ambience is great, the service is wonderful. It is small and quiet so you can actually carry on conversations and be able to hear! We took out of town friends there and they were so very impressed and loved it as well. One of our favorite places to eat!
Great food and service. Enjoyed our experience there.
The eggs Benedict were great
We had a party of six for dinner, and it was our first visit. All of us enjoyed our different meals, and thought the quality of food was very good. Our server was thoughtful, with a good sense of humor.
Fantastic brunch. Reasonable prices. Best Bloody Mary in NorCal—breakfast in a class with celery peppers olives and candied bacon.
Stanley's Steakhouse has excellent food and excellent waiters. My husband and I each had the prime rib medium rare and it was perfect. My friend had the lobster tail and she enjoyed it very much. Another person at the table had a chicken dish and raved about it. Everyone was very satisfied. The prices are high but the quality is superb.
Disappointing and expensive... We are a group who loves to dine together and have fun and we really aren't that picky. We thought this looked pretty good. The meats were great cuts but served barely warm. They only had two baked potatoes (at a Steak House???) left so we were fine with a substitute but the mashed potatoes were cold, the alfredo pasta was the other choice but not so fun with Prime Meats as a real baked potato. Someone made a mistake in ordering so the Lamb Shank that three of us wanted wasn't available and nobody wanted Pork instead. We told the server that her kitchen really let her down and we'd like her manager to know. It was a very long wait for the food, too. Don't know what happened but they really missed the mark. When you spend over $40 bucks for steak you'd like it to be hot. The drinks were good but I doubt we'd go here again.
Excellent and attentive service. Food was prepared to our specifications and the presentation was very nice. The dry aged steak and prime rib were excellent. We will definitely be back on our next wine tasting outing in Amador county.
The restaurant was beautiful. The food and the service were exceptional
First ordered sparking wine and the waitress came back and said they were out of that one. Then I ordered the lamb shank and was told someone ordered pork shanks by mistake. They only lowered the dinner by 5$. My husband had the 14oz aged ribeye which had no flavor and was tough. The only things that were good was the white Zin, the carrot cake and our server
Well, it was a "DATE NIGHT" for my husband and I. We went away saying we need to do this more often. The food was excellent. The staff was very friendly. Loved it!
Very expensive, even for just two people! Good food and service but sooo expensive:/
The service was terrible. The waitress seemed to have an attitude . Wine by the glass was very expensive, $13.00 per glass for a average Cab. The food was mediocre to say the best.
I don,t know what happened to this restaurant . We've been here many times before and it used to be one of our favorites. After Valentines evening, it is now on my "no go" list.
Had the surf and turf Valentine's day special. It was yummy and filling. Fairly priced.
This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had dining anywhere.
We had out of town guests and chose this restaurant as we've had
excellent previous experiences there. Our night was bad from start
to finish. Limited menu and sold out options , unprofessional staff,
food not prepared as ordered, response of management- all was a
Arrived at 5:20 for 5:30 reservation, seated in small private room, service kinda rough getting going even though we were about the only ones in there. Finally got our order in, noticed large group arriving AFTER our order was placed, turned out it was a group of 75. Took a while to get cocktails and by 6:20 we had finished the one salad we ordered, main course didn't arrive till 6:40ish (after I went looking for someone to say we had been waiting quite sometime). Food was mediocre, wife's scallops warm not hot. Waiter made 2 trips to bring entrees with slight delay in between.
I making the reservation or getting seated no one ever mentioned that there might be delay to due large party.
For me, this place is better for drink and french dip sandwich in the bar.
Disappointed. Prime rib tough. And pricy.
Prior visit was wonderful, but no value this time.
Limited menu for Christmas Eve. Selection of 3 apprtizetd, dalads & main course. Was not busy and service was slow and had to remind of cocktail ordered. Food was just adequate. The value wad aiye overpriced I feel. There were 3 of us and with cocktails the bill was over $250. Will go again however due do the history of building.
The fruit was soggy, disgusting and inedible. The grilled cheese, which I had remembered as being the best in Amador Co, was at best "meh"; it was NOT tasty. The crab sandwich was also "meh." The servers were pleasant, even tho one person's lunch was substantially delayed past the serving to all other members of our party. Not a nice experience for that person; too bad; no recompense. They didn't even offer anything to tide him over; instead, they ignored him. Not a lot of caring for customers exhibited here.
Our intent was to have a nice Christmas luncheon in the best restaurant in Jackson. We were way disappointed, in the food and the service.
Stanley's is a regular of ours. Always great food and service for lunch and dinner. Varied menu and a well stocked bar with local wines and beers.
The service was good, food was great, and nice ambiance.
