My husband loved his chicken sandwich but I found the pasta inedible. The waiter offered me a different entre but I declined, as there was enough food on my husband's plate to feed us both. The waiter then comped us a dessert, which we appreciated. This is the first time I haven't enjoyed my meal at Sanford Grill but the service, as usual, was excellent. We will definitely be back.

We were seated by the front door and it was cold sitting there. I will ask to be seated somewhere else next time (in the winter...).

Seven of us got together after an outing. I guess because of our party size, they sat us out on the patio. It was enclosed for the winter, but it was 20-something degrees outside with high winds. It was still pretty chilly in there. We all had to keep our scarves on. I noticed that there were several orders of hot tea from patrons near us. The food was good, but it would have been a much more comfortable lunch if maybe heaters were turned on.

Very disappointed this time. Food was just ok , chicken was dry, music was way too loud but the real problem was the service. The waiter was busy trying to get rid of us 5 minutes after we sat down. I arrived 5 minutes before my companions and as soon as they say down he asked if we were ready to order. He was annoyed when we said no. Then we literally finished the last bite and he sat down the check never asked if we wanted coffee or dessert then another person has to take the check since he was too busy chatting up the people behind us. This lack of service will make me think twice before we go there again.

The food was excellent. I had the spare ribs. Perfect. And the shoestring fries and coleslaw were outstanding. My wife had monk fish and raved. The portions are huge (expect an excellent reheated lunch the next day). The wine is a bit overpriced (though you can take the unfinished bottle home) and the noise level is a bit high but, overall, a lovely dining experience.

Stanford grill is simply a fine establishment. Superb service by an engaged team of waiters brings consistently delicious dishes. Their steaks and spinach side are prepared just as I like them and consistently. The only negative thing I can say is that the desserts are too large.

It is always a pleasure to dine here, I always leave happy and satisfied, and I never wish I'd gone somewhere else instead.

The waiter didn’t seem to enjoy waiting on us. He didn’t check on the table as much. Wasn’t engaged with the table when it was time to leave I had to box my own dessert. Overall wasn’t the norm of the restaurant.

My husband and I saw this restaurant listed on Opentable and, since we had never been there before, we decided to give it a try. So glad we did!! The food & cocktails were very good and the service was excellent (thanks Evan and Kelly!). We started off with a delicious New England Chowder, and for entrees went for the ribs (fall off the bone good) and Mahi Mahi which was wonderful. Even though we were full, we HAD to try the bread pudding. Thank goodness we shared one because the portion size was huge and oh so tasty! We took home half of it. We liked everything so much that we’re going back on Tuesday to try some other things on the menu. What a great find!!

My first time to the grill...it won’t be my last.
Had reservations for 12:30 on a busy Friday and we were seated promptly. All the staff were very accommodating and friendly. Our special was a Cod sandwich with a side mixed green salad with a citrus dressing(absolute perfection)! Service was spot on without being intrusive.
I’d like to return for dinner and the live music. This was just a lovely experience!

it was absolutely one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Everything was made from scratch, there was live music, dim lighting and wonderful servers.

I always enjoy visiting this location. Particularly when there's a talented pianist and bassist on site. A little "All Blues" and "Take 5" always helps the meal along.

We really enjoyed our dining experience with Watson this evening. It is not our first opportunity to have Watson guide us with his honest and accurate descriptions of the menu options, including the specials and drink menu. Watson is very personable and always improves our experience. Tonight’s specials of Rock Fish and Scallops were very enjoyable. The proteins were cooked to perfection but along with the accompanying sides could have used a touch of finishing salt. That being said, slightly under salted is preferable.

We really miss the carrot cake on the dessert menu. The deserts are easily shared between two.

We have been to other Stanford Grill locations and enjoyed them. The Columbia, MD location was not a good experience. The menu is different and smaller, and not as appealing as the other locations. The biggest issue was the service.

I would not recommend this location at all. The overall experience left us feeling like we were overcharged and we left very unenthusiastic about the whole experience.

I would recommend the Rockville location. The service and food are excellent at that location. Never had a bad experience.

My family frequents Stanford Grill every couple of months. Food is always fantastic and the service is top notch. We were here on NYE and it was packed, but service was still outstanding. Prices are on the medium to high end, but well worth it.

Returning from BWI and wanted something en route to DC. A quick search revealed multiple -- actually almost all of them -- restaurants in suburban strip centers. Not sure what this is an aversion, but it's some stupid bias that was quickly dashed to pieces by a visit to the Stanford Grill. There was slot left for dinner on Open Table and we jumped on it.

No regrets. A tasteful jazz trio -- playing bona fide jazz -- was tucked in the corner near the bar. The place was bustling, but we were seated promptly. The service was spectacular. It's clear that team work has an emphasis because we witnessed countless of service staff helping one another.

The food could be classified as comfort food with a twist. And, you better be hungry, because the portions are generous...especially for the price! The manager, who was extremely helpful, made it known that everything -- even the whipped cream -- is made in-house. It's too far from DC to be a regular spot, but it will definitely be on the repeat visit list when returning from another trip.
