Stake Chophouse has THE best steaks in San Diego! I have been to some of the other "top" steak restaurants and they far exceed them all! The service is top notch and the atmosphere is perfect for a night out as a couple or with a few friends.

Servers were lovely, but the food was just not at the level of quality given the price. For example, ordered the king crab cocktail: maybe three ounces in four bite for $30. Ok, Coronado, I kinda get it but you can’t remove the connective tissue? Every bite I’m pulling this out of my mouth? All four $7 3/4 inch bites? Next, mussels: beautiful large, delicious - 10 of them. One not open, another broken so 80% edible, I can get the first one but the broken one should have never hit the pan in the first place let alone the plate. Mains were good not great. Disappointing $400 meal for two.

Great Steak Selection for fair prices. I had the American Wagyu 14 Oz strip med rare and it was amazing. They finish the steaks off with salt after getting pull from fire. They have better Old Fashioned than Del Friscos, Fleming’s, Greystone and Mortons. The only complaints are the parking because it’s Coronado so you have the park on the street somewhere. The AC also didn’t compensate for the heat so it’s a little warm but not unbearable. Also, the male head should have a door on the toilet so more than 1 person can be there at a time.

So the add on crab to the filet was $30 extra for the “full” versus “half”. We received one 6 inch long section of a leg. I would expect a full order to be three legs or at least one full leg!
The food was good. I’m not a gourmet but I felt like my scallops should have been seared on both sides, not just the top? We were a little abandoned on service, not asked if we wanted another drink and I had to request more tea for my wife from bus boy.
All that said I would go back. Lol.
Food and service were both exceptional. Will return for our next anniversary.
Very very very slow to get food out but service was great.
Excellent value on the Happy Hour. Hopefully they will resume the live entertainment on the patio soon. I had one of the best ribeyes I've had. My wife had an excellent skirt. The duchese potatoes were excellent. Brian mixed us some excellent cocktails in the bar.
The service was wonderful and the Japanese wagyu beef is not to be missed. Would recommend.

Arrived 10 minutes early for “outdoor” table. No outdoor tables available because of happy hour crowd. Seated in the bar area. Very loud. Server took 10 minutes to arrive at table. Server could not explain “the Stake Experience” that we preordered. This was a 5 course chefs special. The first course arrived before we were able to order drinks so we sent it back. Ordered wine, which the server opened at the bar?? It was the wine we ordered , I think? Five courses included an appetizer of strawberries on toasted country bread, assortment of 3 very good breads. Then fried green tomatoes covered with steak tartar. Seafood Tower had fine assortment of oysters, crab legs, lobster, ahi tuna poke… Without going into further details, the food was good, but not fantastic. Short ribs were ok, two different steaks were cooked to rare as requested, but did not wow us, as they should have. Selection of specialty steak knives from around the world is a nice gimmick, but doesn’t speak highly of the tenderness of the Wagyu steak or the aged New York strip steak. Overall, the food was good but not excellent. Service was subpar, but the food runner actually knew what the dishes were and explained each course as it was served. Overall, not worth the price.
Expensive but amazing! Best crab legs that were cleaned and prepared for royalty! Mussels to die for and steak that is out of this world.

Excellent experience especially our server Nate, who made my wife and I feel special celebrating our Anniversary. 22 oz bone in tomahawk rib eye was cooked to perfection and their Cesar salad and potatoes au gratin were sublime.
