St. Jack Double Burger & Frites*
Bacon, cheddar, onion, pickle, st. Jack sauce, brioche
Avocado, radish, crouton, Dijon vinaigrette
Quality place with friendly staff who are so accommodating. Even though we were the last reservation of the night they made sure we left full and happy! Plenty of heaters on their curbside tables too. We’ll be back!
It was an instant classic. It remains.
Amazing service and food experience
Fantastic. Everything was great from the beautiful produce to the exquisite duck l'orange.
I have always loved St. Jack's, and I'm very pleased to see that they appear to be surviving the pandemic. We sat at the chef's counter, and even with the plexiglass shields, it was still a fun experience. The food and drinks were as delicious as ever, and the servers seemed happy to be there. It's still a great place to celebrate a special occasion (my birthday) - or any occasion!
We enjoyed what we ordered but service was weak and the cost was incredibly high for what we got. A few drinks, some bread, 6 oysters and a split main ran us roughly $150. We got so much more from other higher end places. Probably won't return.
Every single dish was exquisite! Highly recommend St. Jack for any special occasion or to just indulge in some of Portland’s best French cuisine.
Great service and delicious food. Our server was very helpful in recommending a wine. We were able to order drinks while we waited for our table.
Thank you for making my mom’s 60th birthday incredible! You really made her day and she enjoyed every bite!
Loved the ambiance of this place. Staff was friendly and helpful. Food was exceptional. We will definitely be return in the future.
We ordered a bottle of wine, a dozen oysters, mussels and steak frites and it was the best meal I’ve had in a while! Service was great too. We were there for a birthday and they brought out a cardamom ice cream that was amazing as well.
It is hard to rate during the pandemic but considering, it was an excellent meal. The menu was pretty limited.
Outside was perfect as was the weather. Inside with music is too loud to hear, (not very French as I recall from last I visited) Service was complete, and gracious. Included a needed and interesting blended-wine explanation which was a perfect accompaniment.
This was probably my 8 or 9th time at St. Jack and the food was gorgeous as usual. I had the mussels, which were superb, and my husband had the duck confit, which was just outrageously tasty. The service was fantastic even though we were sitting outside in the new COVID temporary structures. Will be back soon!
Third visit, third perfect meal. The mussels were a hit, as was the bavette. Highly recommend the chicken liver mousse and the pot of their house white and red.
Great service, very COVID regulation friendly, great (louder than indoor) atmosphere. Always happy to be here.
Our meal in their outdoor dining section was amazing! They were not able to seat us until 30 minutes past our reservation time but they brought us champagne while we were waiting and had two complimentary appetizers brought to the table as soon as we sat down. Service was amazing!
Food was fine, but not worth the price and I don’t mind spending more on delicious food. Service was terrible! She was very rude and seemed impatient almost. Felt like asking a question was out of the question! Have zero desire to return.
10 out of 10 every time. The burger is SO good. Cocktails are phenomenal. Just adore this place.
Wonderful interpretation of ingredients. The cicharrones with espellete pepper and maple syrup was so fun and the beef tartar, nuanced for spring, was sublime.
Very good experiences
We have enjoyed St Jacks for years. This is our first time sine COVID and although many changes it was still was a very special experience - food, atmosphere and service all exceptional!
Food and drinks were awesome!! One of the best we have had in Portland.. we were very happy afterwards.. service is a bit slow but that’s probably due to COVID.. food and drinks were on the pricier side but if you are going for special occasions then I would say it’s worth it
Absolutely wonderful food and service ... one of our favorites.
Amazing as always!
Service was pretty slow ... maybe it was training night. Overall, it was really good. The Arugula salad was not good as it was all stock and hard to eat... weird leaf type.
My favorite in PDX! Delicious Burger Salads and Cocktails!
lovely really yummy good time
The food was absolutely incredible. The best restaurant on our vacation hands down!
Captures bistro feel and ambiance in a NW manner.
Some of the dishes would benefit from more thought but overall great value, friendly atmosphere and satisfying cuisine operating in a difficult environment.
The best restaurant in the city
This place is definitely a must try in Portland! Don’t forget to order their onion soup, steak tartare & mussels! :)
Great service as well!
Even after COVID, St Jack remains our favorite. They havent missed a beat and the new outdoor heated seating is great. Cant wait to go back again.
Satisfying experience, as usual with the added benefit of a quiet environment due to COVID attendance restrictions. Delicious starters (chicken liver mousse, butter lettuce salad); superb and original dessert (madeleines w/caramel apple compote and lemon chantilly), and tasty main (ribeye steak frites), the latter marred only by a band of gristle in one end. Excellent service; somewhat limited but adequate wine list with reasonable (~2x) markup over retail.
A lovely dinner and drinks are always assured here. French food is the best, and they do it quite well.
Good and service were impeccable. I met friends here that I hadn’t seen in over a year! It was lovely all around. Only wish we could have been indoors 💜
Great food and service. Very cold when table is near curtain that outside.
Absolutely yummy food; ate outdoors with heaters and seamless service. Cocktails fantastic! Wonderful evening that was much needed for sanity. Highly recommend, wonderful experience.
I always forget how casual Portland is. My expectations for St. Jack were French bistro, diners looking chic, waving their hands around to emphasize a point. Nope, St. Jack is bare wooden tables, servers mingling with diners who are dressed for a long hike into the wilderness. There are no Hermes scarves at St. Jack.
Our server Shelby, became part of our family before the evening was over. He was engaging, intelligent, and an integral part of the gestalt at St. Jack. Food was universally good. The pate en croute reminded me of France. It was not overly "meaty," thick, like many prepared in American kitchens. St. Jack's version used finesse, a light French touch in their preparation. Chicken Liver Mousse was a wonderful spread for the delicious baguette. Ooh La La!
St. Jack's hamburger was very good, large but thin, not thick like many American restaurant burgers. It was easy to digest without a mess. My mussels were devoured, and the pig in me soaked a baguette in the sauce after the mussels were all gone. Fries, Pomme Frites, whatever you want to call them, were fantastic!
St. Jack's dining platform was Covid aware, most of the tables outside, warmed by heaters. Inside, St. Jack seemed empty, tables spaced accordingly. We had a horrible table, a two top tucked away in the corner, with no sight lines. Fortunately, Shelby and the wonderful food made up for our isolation. St. Jack will be fun to return to when Covid is defeated and our world returns to a semblance of normality.
Just a wonderful experience all around, and taking Covid precautions seriously!
