Our meal was excellent as always. We started with the butler leaf lettuce salad and jumbo shrimp as well as the tomato soup and all were excellent. The salad was bigger than expected! We happened to be there on a slower night and the kitchen inadvertently made an extra mussels and frite order - our waitress came over to offer it as an appetizer gratis - what a treat! The mussels are always excellent.
We opted out of the March prix fix menu since there were a couple other favorites we wanted to enjoy. My wife had the and I had the sea bass - both were prepared very well. If I had to try to find one little gripe it would be that the bread offered to our table had a charge attached. When spending as much as we did the bread should come free but other than that it was a great experience as usual. PS - The fresh baked madeleines are to die for!
Nice to have this restaurant 1/2 block from my condo.
We started with blood orange house made soda which was delicious. The salad course was one scrumptious butter lettuce with vinaigrette and a spectacular smoked mussel Caesar. My date ordered the stuffed duck breast which was so good he asked for bread to sop up what remained after he devoured the plate. My order was the vegetarian option, ricotta dumplings, every bite was better than the last. The service was attentive without being overbearing. The only annoyance was the ambient sound level was deafening making quiet conversation quite impossible.
Went during Portland Dining Month to celebrate a birthday. My companion ordered the Seared Foie Gras appetizer. Wow... outstanding! His entreé was the Stuffed Duck Breast, he loved it. For dessert he had the Black Lime Tart... is was excellent. I ordered the Portland Dining Month menu. The vichysoisse was generous, if a bit subtle for my tastes. The duck neck was delicious (warning: presented with the head!). The Madeleines were fine, but not near as special as the other dessert. The coffee was outstanding!
We gathered for a table of ten. It’s not too noisy at all. Mussels were fantastic.
The Portland Dining Month menu was very mediocre. The portions were small perhaps aligning with a $33 price tag. For me, the best course was the soup. It was pretty downhill after that. Madeleines were the dessert which was in the menu last year. Being a French restaurant, they clearly could have expanded their dessert repertoire. Won’t be going back any time soon to the restaurant but the bar is always enjoyable in terms if the selection, food quality, price and the sommelier’s wine choices
Attention by staff minimal. Took too long to be noticed by the door/host station. We had a reservation. Food very slow in coming to table. Not a very lively or friendly staff. Off night we supposed. Very few diners. From order to arrival entree took 1.5 hours. Starters were order of 6 oysters (recipient had intestinal issues overnight) and overly vinegar-ed carrot salad for the other guest. Shared duck breast and totally delicious black cod.
First time at St. Jack as we try all the finer dining locations around portland, OR.

A great menu and fantastic execution. We loved every dish.
St. Jack is one of our favorite restaurants in Portland. This year's Dining Month menu is a tremendous value! Choose the dining room for a quiet conversation with your date or a business meeting. Small and larger groups will have a great time in the adjoining bar.
So great! The space, the service, the menu, drinks, all top notch.
We sat at the counter and enjoyed a terrific meal. Service was informative, friendly and efficient. The butter lettuce salad was enormous and fresh, with just the right amount of dressing. Steelhead crudo was a perfect balance of celeriac, fish, and lemon—very fresh and light. Gnocchi were unusually light in texture but quite flavorful, and the shepherd’s pie (dinner special) was piping hot, full of meats and vegetables, rich and decadent. We brought Clos Vougeot to celebrate my birthday, and the wine service was perfect. St Jack is pricey but you get what you pay for, and while it’s louder than we would like, we will be back!
Delicious food! Outstanding drinks! Awesome service!
Very creative menu, nice wine list and our server was very well informed about each dish. Fantastic sauces and attention to detail.
Staff took our order and then promptly forgot about us. Our appetizers came and I then had to ask several times where our drinks were. Still never took our dinner order for a while after that. Food was great though.
Our favorite go to for special roccasions restaurant! Ask for Trevia!
Wonderful service on Valentine’s dinner. Limited tasting menu, but what we had was wonderful. Will go back, great for special occasion. Def pricey, with tip for 2 we dropped over $300, but we ordered extravagantly. A lovely experience, and very friendly staff.
Overpriced, small portions, pretentious
An otherwise great restaurant took the cheap way out for valentines days and really fell flat. Food presentation was fancier than normal but flavors and portions were disappointing. Especially the flavors. I am surprised that the normally talented chefs would produce such flavorless food. If you do go here never go when they serve a fixed menu. I have no problem spending $80 a person for a good meal, or even more...this unfortunately was not worth the price tag.
To my husband to St Jack for his birthday at the recommendation of a colleague. The food was scrumptious! The waiter was attentive but not too much so. We will definitely come back for another date night.
Top notch French-California fusión with thoughtful and thorough service.
This was one of the best experiences that I have ever had at a restaurant. From top to bottom, everything was superb. The staff (including my server Daniel) all went above and beyond to make sure that I was enjoying myself. On top of that, the food was so good that I'm still dreaming about it. I can't wait to go back!
Great tripe and the steelhead was off the charts!
The entrees were well prepared, just richer than we anticipated. Love this restaurant, I think I just prefer simpler dishes.
I loved brunch at St. Jack. My only feedback is the bacon was insanely smoky and almost inedible. I was a little bummed because I am a bacon lover!
Fantastic service and incredible food. Thank you for making our night special!
