One of the best French Cuisine in PDX. I like the everything @ St Jack
the cod and scallops with sauce Veronique was amazing!!
This is our favorite restaurant in Portland.
Everything is exceptional.
A very special experience that we always savor.
Especially the oyster happy hour in the bar from 4P-5P!
Having been here many times tonight was a big disappointment. Two of us had the special veal dish, we would have been better off buying shoes to dine on they would have been softer and more moist. When I told the server she looked at me and asked if I wanted to take 1/2 the remains home, I said a little tough she proceed to ignore me and took the plate. The salad and madeleines were fine.
Gr eat food and ambience. Highly recommend!
Everything about St. Jack is amazing! Only drawback is the noise level. It is extremely loud when the tables fill and the music is a bit distracting, but we don't go there for the music. The food is simply out of this world.
Our New Year's Eve prix fixe dinner was very inventive, although diminished by a very tough veal entrée. Service was attentive but noise level was quite loud, as is usually the case at St. Jack but especially on a crowded New Year evening.
Love the food at St Jack’s!
Great meal, everything was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend.
Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive, but not so attentive as to be distracting.
We had three cheeses, all very good; simple, fresh, delicious salads; and steaks which were cooked perfectly. The wine list is extensive. We had glasses with the cheese course and then ordered a bottle for our meal.
The space is small and a little tight so you are close to those dining around you. It's an energetic atmosphere with the kitchen open to the dining space and it gets a little loud, but not overbearing.
We will definitely return and take friends with us.
Except for overly salted mushroom crepes, every thing about the evening was terrific!
The food was good (though all of our meals were cold- not so nice with eggs). The server was scattered, and the food took ages to come out. The restaurant was not that busy, only half the tables were occupied. The prices are also crazy. $14 for a simple egg dish. $14 for an Irish coffee!!! It was a nice meal, but we won't be back.
We had a fantastic experience at St Jack. Enjoyed well made cocktails in the bar side while seats were prepared for us at the chef's counter. The Shigoku oysters were awesome as was conversation with the Chef/Owner between courses! I've tried several times to recommend St. Jack to friends and family, but it seems everyone already knows and loves the fare here!
Fantastic food and service, and neither the atmosphere nor the staff was pretentious. We ate Saturday night in the dining room, and enjoyed multiple small plates: oysters, roasted bone marrow, steak tartare, tomato soup, special gold beet salad, cheeses, canele, bread pudding. We ordered item by item as we were ready to try something else. Servers answered all our questions and were never rushed us. Delicious and leisurely evening.
Oysters, salade verte, tomato soup + bavette & frites = heaven.
Shared an amazing meal with friends before taking in a show at CoHo theater next door. Everything was perfect.
In the restaurant part the tables are very close to each other and the noise level makes a discussion difficult. Otherwise everything was fine.
I prefer the seating in the bar area.
Fine French food without a lot of stuffiness. Healthy servings of decadent cuts. Options are limited, but designed well. If it’s offered, there’s a very good reason.
The menu simply says “drip coffee”, but what is served is miles better than the stale Bunn coffee machine image the language conjures.
Good food and atmosphere. Time between courses took forever but the restaurant was busy
Both the restaurant and bar are excellent. Drinks never fail and the wine list is great.
Really love the bar at st jacks and will go back to that but won’t be back at restaurant side Service was incredibly slow and confused. We ordered food and after salads took forever to get entrees A waiter came and gave us dessert menus and we said still waiting fior dinner. We finally had to flag down another waiter to ask where our food was. We also could not order from bar menu and entrees tend to be pricey ($30+). It is pretty noisy too
The butter lettuce salad was delicious but group not enthralled w entrees and expected better for price. Overall disappointed compared to previous trips here
Made our reservation in the main restaurant, table wasn't ready so moved to the bar to eat. Food was great!
Inventive French food that is absolutely delicious.
I had a glass of red wine, duck special, and apple canele and it was so good. The server was very polite, attentive without being intrusive, and the restaurant has a French bistro feeling that is lovely. I would go back any time.
this severs in this restaurant exude an attitude that they are doing you a favor by allowing you to be in their restaurant, particularly the front desk. The proprietor should spend some time in French bistros and take note of how they value their patrons. Less 'the attitude', it could be really good.
Food was beyond excellent !! Noise level crazy . Service impeccable.
The service and personal attention at this restaurant are outstanding. The butter lettuce salad is my favorite of any salad served in Portland. The choices for a cheese plate are varied and interesting. We really enjoyed both our entrees. A great place to celebrate our wedding anniversary!
One of the best meals we have had in a while. The Butter Lettuce salad is something I am still craving, days later. So simple but just perfect!
Ran out of crab and thought the menu was already limited. Burger was really good though.
St Jack never fails us! We’ve eaten dinner there often and always take house guests as we live close by. This was our first time for brunch and it was excellent. We were seated by a window in the bar area and it was quiet enough to chat..though every table was taken..(the noise level in main dining room has always been a distraction at dinner serving. )We had crab omelette...served with fresh greens, and their pommes frites and a fabulous croissant with homemade marmalade. And to die for slabs of maple bacon. The coffee was wonderful and our cups..beautiful china cups and saucers ..were constantly topped off by Portland’s best wait staff. I can see that brunch is going to be our go to St Jack meal...with a menu that includes everything from omelettes to hearty lunch fare including a fried chicken sandwich and burgers. Good idea to get reservations as it fills up quickly.
Noisy, and hard to hear, but food was EXCELLENT! Service was great too!
Food was excellent as was the overall selection. Very creative flavors and meal. The service was excellent. The prices are very high.
This is a wonderful French bistro experience. The dishes are well-conceived and delicious, and the atmosphere perfectly captures the vibe of a French neighborhood bistro. Highly recommend!
Not a ton of lacto, ovo, pescatarian options and they were out of the cod :(
In addition to the food being great, we were able to get an excellent bottle of very reasonably priced Burgundy to accompany our brunch.
St Jack is an extraordinary place where everyone seems to be paying attention to the details that make a visit there a memorable experience. I arrived early and the staff were most accommodating with any and all request we made of them. Drinks were right on, apps were beautifully put together and tasty, and main courses a hit with the whole table.
Will be back soon to enjoy the open-kitchen counter seats.
If you want to spend time at a nice bar with skilled and friendly bartenders, St.Jacks is a good place to visit. However for dinner, you should pass and consider other options. Limited menu. Poor wait service. Fair food offerings. Prices too high for net experience.
So disappointed. I have been to St Jack a number of times since they moved to their current location. It was one of my favorite restaurants, but i doubt that I will go again. The room was hot and stuffy. The waiter was terrible, perfunctory at best. We didn’t receive our drinks until halfway through our appetizers, and then only because we asked where they were. The butter lettuce salad was so heavily peppered that no other flavors could be detected. The steak was very tough and hard to cut, let alone chew. The waiter never returned at any point to ask how our meals were. He also kept calling me “sweetheart” which I found extremely offensive. Their prices have gone up while the quality, service and ambiance have significantly declined. The one positive was that our water glasses were promptly refilled without needing to ask.
