St. Elmo Steak House has been a landmark in downtown Indianapolis since 1902. It is one of the oldest Indiana restaurants in its original location & has earned a national reputation for its excellent steaks, seafood, chops & professional service. Try our famous St. Elmo Shrimp Cocktail followed by a dry-aged USDA Prime Steak. We happily accommodate special requests; please call the restaurant directly. All reservations will be held for 15 minutes. Indy's best steakhouse!

    We have dined here many times (Colts game day and regular days.) Unfortunately this game day we were disappointed. We had the filet sliders and this time they were all chewy, not melt in your mouth like they usually are. My slider bun was burnt black and inedible. The order of fries for the table was the size of a small fry at McD (way tastier though!) The portion keeps shrinking but the price doesn’t. Last but not least, one of the shrimp in the cocktail had a mushy end. While we will be back (this was the first low quality visit,) I do hope this isn’t a sign of what’s to come. I will also add that we did not bring these concerns to our server as it was game day and we were trying to eat quickly and get to the game.

    We really enjoyed coming here. It would have been 5 stars, but the host was really rude. She told us to wait, the other host said we can help you, but the main one made us to wait- very strange. But the food, the ambience, great!!!

    The food was amazing from the navy bean soup to the main course of steak! Our server was fantastic and very knowledgeable about the drinks and food.

    Group of 8 of us with several first time diners. It's hard to be great when everyone says your great, but St Elmo's lived up to their reputation, as we had a great meal. The shrimp were as advertised. The salads, sides and desserts were delicious. And the steaks were next level. We had the tomahawk, the porterhouse, lobster and tuna. Our group has hit steakhouses all over the US. St Elmo's is at the top of our list.

    Overall fantastic experience at St Elmo’s . Our party of 10 were all delighted with their meals - Filets and Ribeyes . Our server was knowledgeable , warm with a sense of humor … just the right balance . Memorable evening .
