Spring House Restaurant, Kitchen & Bar
They had just switched to a new menu, and the dish was so bland. I had to take it home and add to it to make it worth eating. But the place was so cute! And the person I went with loved their meal.
The food was superb, service was friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was refined and relaxing.
Sent the crab beignets back because they were very salty. We were comped with the buttermilk biscuits, which were the opposite: bland, even with the honey butter and they were crumbly, not like the flaky southern buttermilk biscuits one might expect. They could be mistaken for a cornless cornbread. Fire roasted shrimp were perfectly smokey and absolutely delicious; they were in a green salad that was nothing to write about (meh). The seafood pasta was very good; the lobster and shrimp were fresh and good, the scallops were tasteless and the creme sauce a little too floury. The gooey buttercake was not gooey - just raw and underdone in places, done in others. The honey syrup did not add to it. The wine list is very good; we had a good riesling and a very good cabernet.
For the rest of the evening we could not stop drinking water; the meals did not taste too salty, with the exception of the beignets, but we have never had such thirst after a meal before.
I forgot that there was a chef's tasting menu. Our server never mentioned it but he was attentive and the food came quickly.
The springhouse is always a lovely dinner for us. We come from Greensboro and enjoy getting outside of our city and this beautiful old home has the most wonderful feel, not to mention the food is absolutely delicious. One of our favorite places!
Loved the food and the service!!!!!!!
We dine here a few times a year. Always great service and menu. Bison meatloaf is always great!
Everything was wonderful from beginning to end. We’ll be back soon.
Spring House is our go-to place for special occasion dinners. Service is impeccable, the restaurant is nicely appointed and Chef Grandinetti’s menu and talents are second to none!
Social distancing was employed so we felt comfortable dining with other patrons around.
It was a birthday/anniversary event and we were brought sparkling rose along with a chocolate lava cake as a surprise. Very nice!
Loved our dining experience at Spring House and will definitely be back! The food, drinks and service were excellent! Highly recommend a visit!
Wonderful restaurant in Winston. Would highly recommend to anyone thinking about going. Chef does an amazing job with each plate, 5 stars across the board.
Beautiful house, creative for and great service! I highly recommend this place!
The food, the atmosphere, the service, all terrific!!
Wow! What a way to celebrate our anniversary! I never would have known about Spring House had it not popped up on Open Table, and boy, am I glad it did. It was well worth the drive from Greensboro. The space is beautiful, the food was delicious, and the service was excellent. We look forward to returning for another special occasion, or for the heck of it!
A pleasure to visit Spring House. Food & service was very above par. Will return.
Food and service was excellent! Highly recommended.
Spring House is downtown WS's hidden gem. So beautiful and the food is so delicious. Hope they continue to keep prices affordable for the market so even locals will dine there often.
Excellent and interesting menu! Starters were awesome especially fried green tomatoes and the crab beignets!
Great experience! Beautiful house and wonderful food.
We had the $20.12 tasting dinner. It's wonderful, but everyone at the table has to agree to have it, which can be a challenge.
Fantastic food and great service!! We will be back!
Such a beautiful atmosphere and delicious food. Tried the Shrimp Po Boy for the first time and it was delicious! Husband had the Cobb Salad, which he has enjoyed many times.
This was our second visit to Spring House this year. We had gone for Valentine’s and had a wonderful time. Unfortunately the service was quite poor this time. My boyfriend ordered a frozen margarita but it was brought out on the rocks and the waiter explained that they couldn’t serve it on the rocks. Rather than let him know about the drink & offer him something else, he just brought it out on the rocks. When he brought our dinners he never came back to check on us. We had to go ask someone if he could come out as we wanted to order another drink. This time he brought the wrong beer to my boyfriend and we had to track down someone to fix it. Not the service we would expect from Spring House. The food was pretty good. The pork chop was delicious but my seafood pasta could’ve used a bit more flavor. It tasted mostly of garlic. No dimension or anything.
Overall it wasn’t a terrible meal by any means and we would still try it again as our first experience was so good. Just disappointed in the overall service.
This was our first time dining in anywhere since March. When we walked through the door we immediately felt at ease. The service was great! The chef checked in with us at the beginning and end of our meal. The food was amazing!
Absolutely loved it. Great food. Great service. Even brought us complimentary champagne with our meal because we got engaged recently. We definitely plan on returning and bringing family and friends when they are in town.
Excellent meal and service. We dined outside socially distanced. Very comfortable and delicious meal. The flies were bit of an issue but typical of outside dining.
Food and service were great, just expensive for what you get. Drinks were especially high. We will go back, but it will not be a regular visit.
Love Spring House, and glad to see they were busy that night!
My husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary. The service was great and the food was delicious. I had the surf and turf.
We went into the bar afterwards for an aperitif. The Bartender was very good at recommending and making our drinks!!!!
Love the ambiance!
Tremendous food and service. A real treat to dine here.
The menu was not exciting and it’s was hard to choose what to eat (felt limited). Limited gluten free (and soy free) options.
I have asked to modify my salmon and my friend asked to modify his differently and they decided to accommodated both request as if it was one. So I didn’t get what I wanted and my colleague didn’t get what he wanted. I wanted a full body dry red wine and there was no such an option in the menu. Dessert was the only good thing.
Food was not very good and overpriced, was not worth what we paid.
The food was exceptional, better than any other time we have dined at Spring House and our server was on point as well!! Can’t wait to return!
Food was amazing, service was wonderful and they had all the proper covid precautions in place. Outdoor seating was beautiful.
Perfectly lovely evening - delicious food, beautiful (safe) setting, and great service!
great ambiance. Service was excellent. The food was really good. I had the Bison meatloaf, but wish I would have got the seafood pasta.
Food was wonderful, but the server kept wearing his mask below his nose. So that was a bit off putting. But overall great value from the wine to the food.
First time to Spring House since COVID-19 hit. Dinner on patio with pencil-in paper menus and Masked Waiter to reduce viral spread. Very good entrees included salmon rice bowl, filet w/shrimp tempura and black bean enchilada/chile poblano, as well as excellent lemon cake.
Always enjoy Spring House. They have handled the COVID crisis well. Dining outside was particularly nice. Service was excellent. Stephen was very attentive to the diners. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
