Spring House Restaurant, Kitchen & Bar
It was my mom’s 60th bday. They didn’t do anything at all to even acknowledge her. Most likely will go to Bernardin’s next time instead if it’s important. Not to mention our filet was sent back twice and eventually was just inedible. Other than that everything was excellent.
Absolutely lovely birthday dinner for our daughter. The atmosphere in this gorgeous historic home was beautiful, calming, and gracious. The updated southern menu was delicious & beautifully served. Our server was very attentive, and they allowed us to bring in our own cake. She even brought a small dessert for our 1 guest who had dietary restrictions & who she knew could not have our cake. Very, very thoughtful service. We will be back frequently!
Fabulous! Excellent service, craft cocktails & food.❤️❤️❤️
My husband and I dined at The Spring House to celebrate his retirement that day. The staff was aware that we were celebrating a special occasion and they made our evening feel very special indeed! We were greeted with glasses of sparkling wine and we finished our evening enjoying a coffee beside the fireplace. Lovely touches! The food was fabulous and our waitress was superb. The Spring House exceeded our expectations!
The atmosphere was great! Such a cute little place! The food was outstanding! I had the bourbon mustard short ribs with mashed potatoes and roasted carrots. Holy yum! Top 3 places to eat in Winston for sure!
Terrific! Beautiful atmosphere, professional service & great food!
Quality of food is not worth the price. The service was lacking! Won’t be going back
Our first visit to Spring House was very nice. Our server seemed knowledgeable about the restaurant and about the menu. We enjoyed our meal and the wine suggestion.
Perfect for a relaxed, quiet New Year's Eve with friends! And delicious as always!
New Year's Eve dinner was disappointing. Service was sub-par and dinner was not a hit. Pasta was cold and uneatable and the other entrees were not outstanding for the prices we paid. Mix drinks were amazing, thanks to Wendy. I understand this was a busy night for Spring House, but the experience did not make me want to return any time soon.
I almost never write reviews unless the experience was either outstanding or terrible and unfortunately, this was terrible. We were excited for a nice meal on New Year's Eve and I haven't been this disappointed in a restaurant in a long time. The food was subpar, overly salty pork chop, the chicken dish not worth writing home about and a dessert that I had to send back to the kitchen because they brought it out cold and it was supposed to be an ooey gooey butter cake that "melted in your mouth." But what really sent me over the edge was the service. I can't remember the last time I had such poor service and on a night like this! Our waitress didn't take the time to explain the menu, I asked her about an entree and her response was "i mean, what do you want to know", offer an apology for sending the food back or take time with our group to make us feel welcome. She was more interested if we would be purchasing a bottle of wine (asked us 5 times!) than if we were having a good experience. Needless to say, we won't be returning to Spring House.
A family dinner before Christmas, for which the Spring House was superb in every respect. The menu stands out from other restaurants, with crafted delicious dishes you won't find elsewhere. Our server, Jennifer, saw to our every need in a low-key way, without the hovering and needless intrusions in so many other so-called fine restaurants. We recommend it highly.
My go-to for visiting friends from out of town. Reliable great food and service.
Our experience at Spring House was very good. We had an early dinner and we’re the only people in the restaurant until about halfway through our dinner (before we got our food). The only negative thing I can say was the Christmas music was very loud over our table. We love Christmas and the music surrounding it and don’t mind them playing it, but it was a little to loud for our taste. I would highly recommend he duck fat fries because they are pretty amazing. I had the steak special and it was fantastic. All the food looked very scrumptious and our overall time spent at the restaurant was divine.
12 Day of Christmas dinner special was excellent. We always enjoy going to the Spring House. Review would have been 5 stars except for a delay in getting our desserts. Our steaks were perfect just the way we like them.
Blackened grouper was actually hard. Can’t imagine how that could happen. Salad was a handful of mixed greens out of a box; nothing else; dressing served was minute amount. “Corn pudding” seemed like Pepperidge Farm bread crumbs wetted with broth and baked; not much taste and dry. Overall, very poor feeling about the experience. In the past have had several good meals at Spring House so this time was very disappointed as we had especially chosen the spot and brought friends.
I loved everything about this restaurant except my company. Y'all are amazing. Thanks so much.
The hostesses were extremely cordial and our waiter was very attentive. The food was above average but not extraordinary. There were several great choices on the menu which made deciding a nice challenge. Overall it was a great experience and will definitely go back for another lovely dining experience.
I have been wanting to eat at Spring house since I seen it in the our state book.was so excited so instead of going to Ruth’s Chris for my bday I opted to go here .what a mistake that was . Such a beautiful venue decorated beautiful for the holidays we took plenty of photos the venue is all they have going for them . The staff was so friendly and even took photos for us .we were seated promptly and our waitress was pleasant. I had already looked at that menu and knew they didn’t provide complimentary bread and that was fine.we ordered the fresh baked breads with pimento cheese and sundried tomato and olive oil tapenade.it came and the bread was lacking flavor even with a spread on it pimento cheese ok .. I will stick to my $3.50 Hawaiian rolls instead of $10 for bread that’s a much better choice. I chose the salmon n crab cakes and collard greens .my sis got the chicken cutlet n smoked Gouda Mac .the food arrived warm 40 min later just warm not hot the chicken was sent back it still came back just warm . I’m fine with waiting n paying for a good meal if it’s delish .the salmon and crab was aweful k n w cafeteria tastes better the presentation was good but that’s it I later got very sick off the salmon .. we paid n left . Don’t waste your money on this so not worth it . I believe people eat here and get drunk and think their food tastes good because it’s definitely not what I expected .. beware
Always a wonderful experience!! The food and service was outstanding!
As always, a super experience. Delicious food, attentive but not overbearing service, inventive cocktails, romantic. I love Spring House and it has never disappointed.
We started out with a waitress that to be honest was awful and I never say that! We have been here before and had a wonderful experience so we came back and brought some friends. While waiting for our reservation and our friends at the bar we met Wendy and she was wonderful so we thought the night was off to a good start! We were sat in a comfy corner and when the waitress came over she immediately seemed annoyed any questions she was asked she had a poor attitude, lack of any enthusiasm or even a smile! When our friend asked questions about the menu she was visablly annoyed and then verbally as she rushed her through to make a decision while talking above her intentionally. When the waitress left I went and asked for a manager who I found out one was Wendy and asked if we could please have a new waitress, Wendy was more than accomodating and understanding (although we did have to move to a new table- understandable) and thankfully with our new waiter the rest of the night went wonderfully! As for the food/ drinks- the bread assortment is wonderful as always and the Wendys Sidecare cocktail was delish! Only disappointing dish to me I have had there was the Stockpot- great taste but the portion was small in my opinion for the price, it had a few noodles, 1 shrimp, 2 tiby pieces of chicken, and broth for close to $30.... Overall we will consider giving this place another try but only because of how they made the initial experience right and our second try service was great. I hope that was a very off night for that first waitress and someone spoke to her because service like that was certainly poison a good restaurant!
Delicious and lovely!
We had a great birthday dinner at Spring House! Our drinks were delicious and we both loved our entrees - I had the grouper and he had the duck. We split the cheesecake for dessert. We will be back! Another great dinner!
The grouper was over cooked and a bit tough. Not up to usual standards. My husband’s meal was fine
Meh. Food was not that good.
The food was amazing! My wife and I went for our anniversary, and we were really impressed with everything. The waiter gave us complementary Champagne.
The food was awful. Everything tasted the same, overly salted and left all of us with stomach aches. Service was slow but it was a busy evening with WFU parents weekend. The pretty interior is the only draw of this place. Go for a drink. Don’t eat.
The most beautiful dining venue in WS. The food and service are equally wonderful.
The food is expensive to charge extra for bread. The grouper was tasteless, maybe frozen and dry. The corn pudding was dry, more like a corn cake. The chicken was dry and tough. The descriptions on the menu were deceptive too for our selection.
Grouper was “fishy “ and a bit dry. Molten chocolate cake was also dry. Prime rib panini was good. Food was served warm, not hot
This is a wonderful restaurant to celebrate a special occasion such as birthday or anniversary.
Food, service and ambiance was outstanding. We will be going back very soon.
entire experience was great. ambience in the outdoor dining area was tremendous.
As usual, very good meal and service. Very nice evening
Great Food Great Service....The chairs were absolutely worn out. My party of 5 all said the same thing. Very hard to enjoy a great meal when you are uncomfortable.
Shatarra was our wonderful server. Food was amazing as always.
