The “all the above” bread appetizer was amazing. The pork belly, I can’t recall the actual name, was bland. My wife’s shrimp and scallop risotto was pretty good. Service was great.
The atmosphere and service were great. The steak was delicious. However, we were disappointed with the rest of the food quality. Specifically, the Brussels sprouts were so over cooked and mushy that we had to send them back. The salad I ordered was small and very average.
Have been here many times and for the most part excellent food and service. This visit a bit disappointed. Brussels sprouts were a bit strong on the flavor. NY Strip steak ordered medium-rare, however came more medium so a bit over cooked for me. Service was good, but waitress may have been new. Had trouble being aware exactly what was on the menu. Also not attentive to when a new fork was needed for dessert or spoon when coffee served. Still recommend this place given excellent experiences in the past
My husband and I have been dying to go to Spring House and we finally went for New Years Eve. We went with another couple and they both agreed the food was good but our experience was kinda ruined cause our server was short and kinda rude to us which made us uncomfortable. I may go back but we have better experiences at similar restaurants in Winston Salem.
Stephan was great as usual!
New years eve a mixed bag for us. Service was great but the food while tasting very good was not served hot.The oysters were warm at best. The Pappardella Pasta had hot meat and cold pasta. The plate it was served on was cold to touch. We will blame it on a busy holiday night.
Despite three confirmations from OpenTable, our reservation was lost. We were finally seated after waiting 20 minutes past our original reservation time. Asked for water which did not arrive until 25 minutes later. Ordered bread service which arrived 40 minutes after being seated. Asked for more water twice and received 15 minutes later. Planned on ordering drinks and dessert, but left as soon as possible given the delays. Disappointing for an anniversary meal given the prices
Dinner was mediocre. I was more disappointed in the fact that our waiter did not wear a mask. Guessing he and management are not aware of our mask mandate and our current situation.
I'm not sure how many reviews of this place I've already written, and don't want to be redundant. But if there are scads of them, this one will perhaps underscore that the restaurant remains Excellent.
They are celebrating 10 years in business. We all know how evanescent the food business can be.. The really good ones tend to stay, though.
I had the duck (eloquently named A Study In Duck). It had perhaps half a duck breast (which is plenty), and a like portion of quick fried duck liver. Each of them was magnificent, and together they truly expounded the depth and texture range of Mr. Anas.
She had the oyster appetizer and the beet appetizer... And each of us ordered a side of brussels sprouts. As it turned out one order of brussels would have fed both of us, but we now have a nice lunch or dinner from the doggie bag.
Then I had the bread pudding dessert. It made me feel a bit like Ego, the food critic who eats the rat's ratatouille and is instantly transported back to his mother's kitchen. Mind you, it's not the same recipe as Mom made, but the warmth and comfort of it are reminiscent.
The staff were perfectly attentive, if a little hazy sometimes on the specifics of a particular dish, and kept our glasses filled without being in the way.
This is my favorite restaurant in Winston-Salem, (and we have several really good ones), and among my favorite on the planet.
Tip: arrive a bit early and have a drink in the cozy bar.
Multiple issues with our dinner experience. They were out of multiple menu items, which we were not informed of prior to ordering a bottle of wine. We were basing our wine choice on what we planned on eating. Not the end of the world, but not great none the less. We ordered items that we did not receive, which we found odd as the waiter came back to the table to confirm. Again, not the end of the world, but we wanted those items. As far as the food itself goes, the small plates of the lobster spring rolls and roasted oysters were fantastic. The mains were very disappointing. My wife had the driest salmon I've ever seen, which unfortunately was one of their most expensive plates. I settled with the chicken and shrimp after my initial order was declined for being out. The chicken appeared to be sous vide cooked and was cooked perfectly. The shrimp were over cooked and chewy. My wife and I just moved to the area and are looking for higher end dining places to add to our places to go out. This unfortunately just did not check the box. The venue is beautiful, but our food was lacking, and when looking to spend $200-300 for two people out, this is just not up to par.
Wow! Celebrated my birthday at The Spring House. They exceeded all expectations! Service was wonderful. Everyone in our group loved their food. We will return b
Such a beautiful restaurant, with delicious food!
First off the waitress screwed up the meal order. I ordered the NY Strip (Bland and way over priced for what you get), and a salad, my date order Roasted Oysters and Brussel Sprouts. They brought out the oysters like a appetizer, then ten minutes my salad. 20 minutes they brought out my little steak and her brussel sprouts. So in short we went somewhere else because we were still hungry after dropping $109 for that meal. Massive let down, Will never eat there or suggest going there to anyone
The food was very flavorful and and the portions were ample. We had a group of five and each said the same. The atmosphere was exceptional.
This restaurant was awesome The young lady who helped us with our selection of food and drinks was very nice. It’s was a beautiful experience and the food was excellent
Great food, great service and delightful place. We took the three course menu and each course was fabulous.
Our server Shatara was amazing! You guys have redeemed yourselves last time we were there it was a nightmare I’m so glad we gave Spring House another chance. Food was excellent nice and hot! Our drinks where make to perfection! Thank you!
Everything was good but a little concerned with the 92 rating especially since I generally stay away from anything below a 96.5
Amazing birthday dinner with my friend!!! Food was great! Service was amazing our server Korey was great!!!
We have had great meals here, but on this occasion the service was slow and when the entrees arrived, the were cold (not even luke-warm). We didn't complain or send them back, but it was a disappointment.
Excellent meal, drinks, atmosphere and staff - we will return, without question.
Food and service was amazing as usual. We’ll be back very soon.
Cool ambiance, good service, maybe increasing the wine pour would give the feeling of greater value, but overall excellent.
We attempted to take our four children, ages 2-12, out for a formal dinner to celebrate the birthday of one of them. We were (wisely) place away from other tables in a quiet dining area, consistently given extra care an attention, and attempts were made by all of the staff to bring smiles to each of the children and praise their manners. The two year old, who was teething and particularly fussy, was easily appeased by the kindness of our server and the delicious bread. We made the most out of having a big family and allowed our 8 year old to say “we’ll take one of everything please” when asked for our dessert orders. Our children felt like they were in guests in Beauty and the Beast. Our meals were exquisite too, but the ambiance and service really won us over.
Food was bad
A wonderful "splurge" spot in Winston. So glad they made it through Covid. Service, food and ambience are always top notch. We've enjoyed both the bar area and the dining room on various occasions.
We enjoyed our dinner with friends. We particularly loved our bottle of wine and our chat with Chef Tim. Our waitress Corie (sp?) did an excellent job as well. Beautiful ambiance and wonderful evening!
The food is creative and delicious at Spring House. And the setting is probably the most beautiful in WS and surrounding area.
Besides the rude table next to us, it was awesome. Who talks on their phone with it on speaker in a restaurant???
The staff was very helpful, but the food was lukewarm and relatively flavorless.
We did, however appreciate their recognition of our anniversary and the complimentary glass of champagne to go along with it.
Unfortunately, the small portions and lack of flavor of the food was a disappointment.
Great ambience and decor. Food? Horrible. Would not recommend.
As always, everything was outstanding: the food, the cocktails, and the service. We look forward to our next visit!
Always love Spring House. Everybody was so nice and service was excellent. The food was outstanding. Thank you so much
A little upsetting that a table was not ready at the time of reservation and we were seated outside where it was much chillier. Food was just average. We had the pork chop, bison meatloaf, steak and salmon. Good food, but not necessarily worth what we paid. Service was excellent!
Waitress was spot on, food fantastic and a great venue for a quiet celebration!
continues to be a favorite
the weather was great as well as the menu
We loved our first visit to Spring House! The food and ambiance were incredible and our server was very attentive. The only reason I have it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of how long we had to wait for our food. The server explained that a new menu had just begun on the night of our visit and two large parties were in attendance. The chef most definitely had his hands full! But overall we were very pleased with our visit and we will definitely be back soon.
Thank you so much for the kind words Amanda. We are thrilled that you enjoyed our new Fall menu. We are so appreciative of your patience on what turned to be a very busy night here at Spring House. We will look forward to seeing you again very soon!
highly recommend this restaurant. Food and atmosphere are fantastic
