We love this place. Eric our server is wonderful. He has the perfect blend of being attentive but not bothersome. The food rocks.
Not enough staff. Lots of tables with dirty dishes. No one to greeted us when we arrived. Server was nice but very busy.
Great food and service, will definitely be back!
I love this place
Our server Lindsey was very, very sweet, and also very helpful. We enjoyed our dinner there very much, and will look forward to attending again. The food was great as well. Thank you1
The salmon will NOT disappoint. I ordered the burger and it was fine. But everyone else got salmon and I was jealous. The Old Fashion's were spot on also. Over all a fantastic dinning experience.
Made a brunch reservation and arrived 30 minutes early, even with the restaurant half empty they wouldn’t seat us.
Once we were seated, waited 10 minutes and had to ask the host about our server. Food was fine.
Food was amazing. Our server was so attentive and kind. Unfortunately she was assigned to all of the tables with no support staff. Waited for 20min just to order.
Loved the fact that the food was not over-salted & not extremely large portions
- Brunch Review -
1) Apparently you're only allowed to order a mimosa or bloody mary at brunch. The restaurant will not permit any other alcohol sales - so no beer, no whiskey, notta. It's mimosa or it's a BM or it's nothing. Every other place in town that I've been to is happy to sell whatever you want during brunch.
2) Mimosa: ratio is about 2/3 OJ and 1/3 who knows. So you're basically paying $12 for a glass of orange juice. On top of that the OJ and the mystery other liquid is room temperature. So, pass on it.
3) Ordered a BLTA and Yogurt Parfait - the BLTA was cold as were the fries, which I assume were batch frozen fries. Not much by way of seasoning. The Yogurt Parfait - was criminally warm, somehow. I'm talking feeling like it was under a heat lamp or room for a while warm.
4) Staff - really did not like to have any of this pointed out and just did not seem to be having a good day. Not a knock on them, it happens. But, we got the vibe that this wasn't the first time they've had to deal with some of these issues...
The staff blamed it all on Marriott. However, I find that odd and very hard to believe. I travel an absurd amount and stay exclusively at Marriott and Hilton properties. I have never experienced this once at any other property across the country in the last 10+ years.
Whoever is overseeing this place, needs to re-evaluate a few things. I rarely leave reviews, but had I known this to be the case, especially with the drink situation, I would have gone somewhere else altogether. As these were issues with the way it's ran, that's more indicative that it's a repeat issue. Therefore, seems like it's knowledge worth knowing for other folks before making a reservation.
This is unfortunate, because we did get to interact with some staff outside of our server and those ladies were really kind and understanding. So I hope nothing but for the best for them and that they find a better situation, because this place wont last long like this...
The food and service were great. Enjoyable experience. However, I don't understand the way "Open Table" works. I was told the only table for four on Saturday, Oct 23 was at 5:15 pm. This is a bit early for dinner. Nevertheless, I made the reservation and showed up at 5:15 pm. The restaurant was almost empty! And never filled up during our 2-1/2 (or so) hours there. Whazzup?
They took greta care of our group of 10 out for a social dinner as part of a business meeting. Food and Service were excellent for our group! Would go back for sure!
Waited 25 minutes for drinks. The bar had one patron and the dining room had eight guest so the establishment wasn’t over taxed. Later it became busy so slow service throughout made some sense. Was served a flat beer. Old fashion was good the cosmo not so much and another cocktail (don’t remember name) that was served with a twig of rosemary was also good. Charcuterie was sloppily put together and chard Romain was cold and limp. The chicken was over done. The burgers were very good. The acoustics were not good putting a damper on what is a visually appealing space.
Great food as always!
We enjoyed Sunday brunch. The menu had something for everyone. We could customize our orders (didn't need all the toast and potatoes). Our server was friendly and attentive (and hard working). Most importantly the food and coffee were delicious.
Happy to be back to a great restaurant. We had an amazing pasta dish with Smoking Goose sausage and Nicole Taylor pasta. Our waitstaff suggested an excellent wine pairing. It is still a bit noisy, but tolerable, since it was not very full on a Saturday night. We will keep this on our favorites list.
I’ve been here for dinner before but this was the first time I went for breakfast. The food was delicious and not just your typical eggs and bacon. It was fresh and the service was great.
Yummy food and great ambiance.
The service was incredibly slow. The food tasted delicious, but the salad portion was ludicrous: literally 2 pieces of lettuce and 1/2 a chicken breast for $20.
Drinks: Drink service was slow, and wildly overpriced, a double eat pour of Woodford Reserve Double Oaked was $56. Compare this to their cocktail prices of $14. Elsewhere in downtown Indianapolis (including next door at St Elmos, Livery, etc.) this drink is $22-25. Upon requesting a review of the bill the server could only offer an apology. Drinks were ordered before the meal, and showed up after the food! And as a follow along issue (not being aware of how out of line the prices were was never offered).
Food: the sea bass was over salted and of poor quality, being over cooked on one side and the other side being brown flesh through nearly 1/4 of the slab.
The Saucisson au Orecchiette was basically pasta shells in water with few sausage slices. No spice as advertised, undetectable wine reduction.
Bill was 173.00 for two drinks, two entrees, and two appetizers. BEFORE TIP!
Will go and eat at the St Elmos bar next time.
We went here for our anniversary. The waitress made our drinks way too strong and when we asked for new ones, she was clearly irritated that we were bothering her. The food was not as described. The fish we ordered was so undercooked by husband couldn’t eat it.
We had exceptional food! The noise level was a bit high due to a large group near us, but it didn’t spoil the evening.
Food was good. It was only 1015 am and there was maybe 4 tables sat. We could hardly get a coffee refill. Our service was actually terrible. We had shrimp and grits, qas very good... we also had, biscuits and gravy, French toast and s&s breakfast. They were all good except they were barely warm. Flavor was great. So very disappointed in the service.
Food and service was great! We had brunch on a Sunday morning. Illy coffee and upgraded ingredients - brioche French toast, house barrel aged maple syrup, house cured bacon and organic eggs. Server was friendly and kept the coffee coming.
Very disappointed. Small restaurant. Definitely could tell it was in a hotel lobby. Too loud; it was like sitting in an echo chamber. We left about 5 minutes after arriving. If you are just meeting up with friends at their bar and going elsewhere for dinner, I suppose this would be a good place.
We were seated immediately and helped very soon after. Mary, our server, had excellent recommendations for food and drink, was very kind, and checked in with us just the right amount. Food was excellent - something for everyone!
Great breakfast and very friendly and attentive waitstaff
Spoke and Steele simply is not the same restaurant is was before. This was our first visit in about 2 years and it was disappointing. It was once a vibrant place with a great vibe in the bar. Very subdued and boring. Food was above average but atmosphere was not good.
You are not wrong: Spoke & Steele, and every other restaurant that has managed to survive the last 17 months, is not the same. The pandemic changed everything, from our ability to staff the restaurant, to the experience that we can reasonably expect to offer our guests. We want, more than anyone, to get back to pre-COVID times and the fun that we used to have. Thank you for your honest review. Please try to give every restaurant a little lenience for the foreseeable future - we're all trying.
Great food! Honestly under valued restaurant, great decor, really good food.
Thank you so much, Millie! We're so happy that you enjoyed your meal.
The food was delicious and the waitress was nice and helpful. Great dinner
Thank you, Julie! So happy you enjoyed your meal, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
My friends and I enjoyed out first visit to Spoke and Steele. It's a very nice restaurant. The food, for the most part, was delicious. My polenta was burned and inedible. The shrimp was delicious. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and efficient.
Our group of 5 had so much fun. Our server was so accomodating, she let us sit 30 min early while our full party got there over time, she created custom cocktails for us, made great suggestions and was very attentive. The food was delicious.
Thanks so much, Karen! We're so happy that you enjoyed your visit!
Beautiful interior, well-mannered staff, and tasty food/drinks. Definitely will return!
Service was good. Food was meh. Especially for the price. Overall nothing spectacular.
Food was wonderful. Waiter nice but didn't check on much (ran out of water and had to wait, wait a long time for the bill). Was noisy due to one particular table of men. Wouldn't have been noisy if not for them. Had smoked salmon on the charcuterie. The bar is beautiful. Recommend at least once.
Service was great, food was great.
To put it bluntly, I expected more. It was exceptionally loud at points to where my partner and I had to yell to hear each other. The charcuterie was excellent as was the mushroom appetizer. The entrees were very lack luster. The cocktails left quite a bit to be desired, especially for the price. The high point of the evening was the service. Our server was on the spot with any questions we had and was extremely helpful and polite.
Love our waiter and the food was fabulous. Can’t wIt to go for dinner!
Enjoyed our Brunch , nice weekend menu with Mimosas and Bloody Mary’s.
Well we sat in the bar area and our server/bartender Jason was great! We will be back!
