Service and wine were spectacular. Food was under the standard I’ve learned to expect at Splash. Not sure if it’s a downwards swing in the chiefs area or just a bad night. The waiter went out of his way to help.
Shrimp and calamari appetizer, srirachi scallops, surf and turf linguini, and Splash chicken are all excellent. Very extensive wine list. Expensive, but worth it when you want a very special and memorable dining experience.
Service was perfect! Food was delicious! Wish the lobster bisque was smaller with less lobster. I was full from the soup. Thought it would be like an appetizer.
Great people, excellent food in a good atmosphere
Thanks, Monte, for awesome service and appropriate recommendations for our group.
Perfect evening. There’s a reason Splash has longevity in the DesMoines location. Goss food and service.
A shout-out to our server, Zachary. He is excellent at his job.
Fab in all ways!!!!!
Our second trip within 2 months-the first was very good -great service and the food was outstanding. This time-not so. From asking for a lemon in my glass of water-receiving 2 lemon slices midway thru the mean; being served and charged for a poor quality salad that I did not order to our shrimp being significantly over cooked. They were busy, but the mark of a fine restaurant is to shine when they are pushed. Didn’t happen. The other negative reviews now make sense.
The food was fair but it used to be amazing. It just seems the seasoning was not the same.
Great service from our friendly waitress.
The food was excellent ( Oysters Rockefeller, Garden Salad, Miso Salmon, Chilean Sea Bass Meuniere, Pineapple Upside Down Cake), wine and cocktails extremely good, and our waiter, Scott, was the perfect combination of friendly and professional. The birthday menu was a nice touch. Overall wonderful experience, well-worth the 2-hour round-trip drive and the price. We will be back.
Amazing as always!
The menu with happy birthday on it was great idea.
A very good meal with great presentation on our anniversary. Our waiter Monte was amazing and very knowledgeable. Well worth the price tag. This will be a annual event as we count our years together...
Service and food always top notch Great wine list Wait staff true professionals. My go to place in Des Moines before the theater or special occasion.
We have dined here on multiple occasions but this time it seemed to be even better than previous visits! We both enjoyed our main dish of seafood but we shared some Lobster Mac and Cheese which was absolutely DELICIOUS! We had a large wine list to pick from, our waitress was attentive and helpful and never made us feel rushed. We were here before a show at the Civic Center and made for a perfect evening
Our food was very good. Our service was less then good. Our server was only at our table 3 time the whole dinner.
Our waitress was informative andvery helpful in detailing our meals to fit our food allergies. Food and atmosphere were great.
If you love seafood then this place is a must. Everything was great from the online reservations to my last cocktail of the night.
Amazing fresh seafood and excellent service… One on DesMoines best wine lists…
Dined before going to a show at the Civic Center
Really enjoyed our dinner. Was a Thursday night on a show night and our service was still good. Excellent seafood!!
The food was good. My only criticism is that the restaurant was not very busy and we were given a small, cramped table.
We were there for a dinner before the Civic Center. Our waitress asked us before we ordered, so everything was delivered in a timely fashion. She was very attentive. The food is wonderful, but I think it's over priced for Des Moines.
Dependably good food and impeccable service at Splash. I always have seafood when I'm there because it's so fresh and cooked to perfection. However, one of these days I'm going to order meat or poultry because they sound wonderful.
Enjoy it every time we come. Seafood is always wonderful and the desserts are good too.
We are finding Splash to be hit or miss these days, and it was mostly a miss on our recent visit. We were seated in the lower area, which isn't our favorite spot, but it was busy so it was at least lively. The wine list is still nice, but maybe not as interesting as it has been in the past. Two of us opted for the scallops, and they were largely overcooked. The other member of our party ordered swordfish, which was also overcooked. We all chose the garlic mashed potatoes, which were fine but not special, and the asparagus, which was also fine.
The shining stars were the lobster bisque and the half dozen oysters on the half shell. The bisque is a large serving--a bowl, not a cup. The bisque is delicious and loaded with large chunks of lobster. And the oysters were simply outstanding.
Splash is good, but when the preparation is off, we just don't think it's worth the price tag. Next time we might opt for the raw bar.
Great food and service. Made it to the Eagles concert in time.
Attended contest with family
Server had many tables and she was on the ball for all of them. Appreciate it. Bonus tip. Need to stay with my go to scallops
Overall I was impressed with my first visit to splash. The food and service were top notch. I love the unique atmosphere. We had a great experience.
My only complaint about Splash is the high cost. 16 dollar drinks, 45 dollar steaks, 18 dollar appetizers, it's pretty expensive. My wife and I had a date night there and our bill was over 200 dollars. Fun experience but will not be returning due to cost.
The waiter was awful! Very disrespectful.
Great service, good food
We were very happy with our first experience at Splash!.... a little pricey for visiting regularly but the quality of the cuisine won us over. Absolutely loved the Chilean Sea Bass. We will be back! Thanks Splash!
Went to an early dinner. Greeted and quickly seated. ALL the food was amazing! Fresh seafood. Wonderful service. Can’t wait to go back!
I absolutely love this restaurant. It's fabulous every time we come here. The food is to die for and the service is excellent. My favorite place to dine for special occasions.
My favorite place for oysters in a land locked town. So fresh with a remarkable attention to seasonality and coastal availability. Service is always excellent.
We hadn't eaten here in a while. It used to be a treat. Overall I've had way better food in Des Moines for the same or less. The food just wasn't that good. The lighting made all the food look gray. When I got home with my risotto leftover, it turned out it was gray! The decor hasn't changed in the 25 years I've been eating here. I won't be back until something changes.
Always enjoy our time here . Oysters are always pretty good.but I’m not super picky.
