Went here on our anniversary. It was awesome! They even had the flowers I ordered for the table ready when we arrived. Thank you!
My husband and I each had the prix-fixe sunset dinner special with an added bearnaise sauce for our steaks. We were extremely disappointed about what is named “bearnaise” sauce. It did not have any tarragon, not did it have a discernable egg yolk consistency both of which are standard for a bearnaise sauce. We did notice a lot of butter and salt. In general, the entire dinner was overly salty. We were in Salt Lake City for 5 days of a convention.
This should be called Spender's.
A hotel restaurant masquerading as an upscale steakhouse.
The service was mediocre at best. The server recommended the charcuterie plate, but didn't know what was on it. We were still enjoying our appetizers when we were informed to wrap it up because our entrées were 1min away. Hello?
Wine recommendations were equally uninformed, and tended to the pricier glasses, $22 and $25 per glass, about the price as a whole bottle of the same. Vintage poured was different from listed.
The steak was about as salty as licking the great salt lake. What are they hiding?
Lobster "Paella" was a soggy salty mess. After eating half the plate my date indeed did discover a morsel of lobster!
We have visited Spencer's on almost every visit to Salt Lake City over the past 25 years and can safely say that this was the worst experience. Cold food was supposed to be replaced by a replacement dish which didn't arrive until the rest of the dish was consumed. We were told that we would receive "compensation" - which amounted to one espresso drink.
The real problem, I feel, was that two waitresses served us and neither knew what the other was doing so confusion reigned.
I doubt we shall rush back!
The food was beyond amazing, the service was impeccable and the ambiance was lovely.
Service was excellent. Our waiter came to the table after we ordered and told us he was sorry for the delay but he was unhappy in how our steak was prepared and was having the kitchen recook the steak. It came out perfect as we had ordered medium rare.
If you want your food in less than 45 minutes, go somewhere else. If you don't like to fight for your waiter's attention, go somewhere else. If you don't want to pay $45+ for an entree, go somewhere else. The food is good, but you can get a good steak at many other less expensive places. The ambiance is nice, but not that special. We waited more than 45 minutes after we placed our order. It made us late for a concert. Honestly, Spencer's did not live up to the hype.
Filet was melt in your mouth. Cajun calamari very tasty. Everything was absolutely delicious
It was pricey as expected, but we had the restaurant to ourselves at 6:00 and the waiter was very cordial and reviewed all the options with us. It was a very nice experience.
Best steaks you will find anywhere, and I have had them all over the country.
My medium rare ribeye was a medium well to well and was charred so much on top that it tasted more like charcoal. After waiting for it. I didn’t send it back: wish I had
One of the best steaks I have ever had.
We enjoyed the dinner a lot! Everyone was very nice. I would happily eat there again next time I am in SLC!
Service and quality of food is excellent. Sadly the representation on Open Table for price point was misleading. I would go back to this establishment now knowing the price point
Anniversary dinner. Everything was perfect!
Food was so so. Service was great. Won’t go out if my way. Also not enough everyday dining options if u aren’t very hungry.
Excellent Steak, great desserts and appetizers. Highly recommend.
We were there celebrating our 45th anniversary. The staff treated us like royalty. It was awesome. Great food, service and atmosphere.
Meals are far overpriced for the amount and taste you get. Menu is not clear that soups and salads are extra to the main course of meals. Soup was too sweet and service was hardly there and discomforting.
Quite place, nice crew, never had to ask for water. Recommended
Always a beautiful meal. I love the comfortable elegant booths and dark gentleman's lounge like atmosphere.
Great place for a business dinner.
Very tasty everything was delicious. The staff moved slow, but they were very nice and personable.
Great food. Excellent service! Always a go-to for a fantastic steak.
Service is a little spotty but the food makes up for it
The waitstaff was accommodating, pleasant and helpful with suggesting menu choices and service requests.
Service & ambiance was great but the prices were high for the quality of the steaks & ala cart items. Won't return.
It was amazing everything was awesome
While I wouldn’t recommend bringing noisy children into the restaurant I did and our waitress Colleen handled us with ease and made our evening very enjoyable. Also fell in love with the Markham merlot (:
Used to go to the New Yorker until I found Spencer’s
It took quite a while to get seated and although we had reservations and were all there they seated a couple of groups who came in afterwards it seemed. I was hosting some out of town VIP's and it was a little embarrassing to have them have to wait for the concierge/host to get seated.
Food was decent. 1 of the ribeyes were pretty dry (ordered medium). Sides and drinks were good. Hostess was a bit lost. Waiters were attentive.
Great food and service but you pay for it
2 Of our filet were very tough
1 filet was ordered medium and was cooked well done
1 filet was good
2 prawns appetizer were excellent
Chocolate dessert was OK
Raspberry Sherbet had very little taste and looked anemic
Great place. Very nice place for a quite environment
Everything went well for our 29th anniversary. Colleen was a great server and they topped off our meal with a nice surprise.... a free dessert. We had filet minion, the scallops, crab legs & a couple of sides. Everything was delicious. Oh and how can I forget the wedge salad. Yummy! Thanks for making our celebration special. We will definitely be back.
excellent food and night out
Place was incredible! Our waitress Colleen was awesome and so attentive to us and made sure we were well taken care of. Food was amazing. Highly recommend.
