We were there for Valentines Day. Food was ok but ordinary. Very overpriced - I don't see a reason to go back.

I went with a few friends to a gals lunch out on a Tuesday at Spalti.
The place is pretty with mottled walls and great art prints. We loved the menu which had many options. One gal had special food needs and they made a pasta dish to her specs, while two of us had salads with beautifully grilled warm salmon in top. I chose arugula and the other gal spinach. We could have chosen chicken, shrimp or other toppers. The service was attentive and accommodating, and the prices are typical for the area. There are several restaurants on the street, but folks who look past Spalti are missing a nice experience. For larger groups they even have a private banquet room

Friendly servers. Fantastic flavors and good portions. I had a heaping pile of empty clam shells from my linguine con vongole and still had just as many in my plate, un-eaten. I only left them behind because I was more than satisfied. Lovely home-made pasta.

Our latest visit to Spalti featured the same fine Italian food, good service, and reasonable wine prices that we have come to love in the last few years. Sure, it doesn't have the buzz of some other places, but it's nice to have something reliable that has become our local go-to restaurant.

Excellent all around. Food is delicious, drinks are plentiful and offer lots of variety, many vegetarian options which makes me happy, and the service is excellent. I've never been disappointed at Spalti.

I was thrilled to find the lobster ravioli returned to the menu. It appears that the opening of La Boheme a few doors down is having a negative impact on Spalti's patronage, which is a shame. It is a great dining spot and deserves support. I have been a faithful customer for over 16 years.

Nice place; good food. Interesting to watch those who pass by.

We had soups, salads, and main courses. Timing of service was good.

We went very early on a Friday and that was a cool thing to do. Had the place to ourselves.

We have lived in Palo Alto for over 20 years and this was out first visit to Spalti. We were surprised that it was not more crowded on a Saturday night especially when Open Table did not have a reservation available for the time we wanted.
The food was very good and everyone in my party (4) would go back again.

Fish order had to be sent back because it was too salty and vegatables were cold. It took a very long time until another plate was delivered and was satisfactory . An order of capellini with pesto was absolutely tasteless. There was NO garlic in the pesto! First time ever no garlic in an Italian dish!!!

I hadn't been to Spalti's in a while, and was pleasantly surprised. I remembered it as a good spot with so-so food, but that's no longer the case-- the food we had was excellent-- four different entrees, soups and salads, and all of them well-prepared, flavorful, and nicely presented. My carpaccio had too much mustard for my taste but was otherwise great. Hubby's canneloni was superb, excellent sauce. Vegetarian friend had the Portabello dish and loved it. Low-carbs friend had the gamberoni, no pasta, and loved it. Ambience was lovely, service attentive and prompt. We will definitely be back!

We had a birthday dinner there on a Saturday night; we had celebrated my mother-in-law's 80th birthday with 50 guests 7 years earlier at Spalti. The place was deserted-- we were the only diners. The food was OK, but the cocktails were mediocre and the service was poor, despite the fact that we were the only diners in the place.

VEAL, at least for me. What I love most about this place, relaxing and not rushed through our meal. Very European style. We've found the service, attentive, and knowledgeable. We've invited friends and family, and there were no issues, handling larger groups. The missus, has spent time and has family in northern Italy, she says the food preparation, is spot on. The sauces are not the heavy kind, so if that's your bag, you may want to stay with the southern prep, or Olive Garden. Desserts are excellent, as well as the after dinner coffee offerings. Don't think it's too good if you want a quick 'n out. We also had our wedding and dinner reception here, they made it seamless, bent over backward to make it a memorable, carefree day.

It was our first visit to the restaurant which was highly recommended by friends. My friend from France and I were most impressed with the excellent cuisine, the atmosphere and the service. It was superbe! I can't wait to go back with my husband. Many thanks for the wonderful meal.
