Sovana Bistro has been a staple in the Unionville community since opening twenty years ago and has evolved into a highly regarded dining destination. The kitchen and bar create simple hand-made items, inspired by ingredients sourced locally at the peak of their season. We cater to dietary restrictions offering house-made gluten free and vegetarian options. The service reflects a gracious approach to hospitality and genuine concern for each and every guests' experience. We take that same thoughtful care in event planning, offering catering and in-house private functions.

Sovana never disappoints!!! I branched out this trip and was of course happy as a clam. I decided to do the prixe menu with a glass of malbec... delish! Our waiter brought us gluten free bread at my friends request and while I am a big fan of the bread basket here, I have to say this bread was out of this world! I then went to the beet and goat cheese salad, I normally do the tuna tartar, but this was so refreshing and light. Next was the roasted chicken, I normally go for the pappardell but wanted to go out of the box. The chicken did not disappoint, it was so moist and perfectly cooked the sides that accompanied it were perfectly paired. To finish I had the apple tart with the caramel icecream... definitely save room for this!!!

First time but won’t be the last. Was very busy (tightly packed) and noisy (Valentines Day) but the service and food was still outstanding. We will be back!

Love this place. SB is my mainstay for date night, special occasions, girls nights, ladies who lunch and brunch. It's my cosmopolitan/metrosexual/trendy/farm-to-table/local )

We have tried a few restaurants over the years on Valentine's Day and were always disappointed in the holiday menu options. Not with Sovana! They had their normal menu and specials - it was exactly what we were hoping for. We can't wait to go back next year.

Everything about Sovana is always good. And consistent. You can always be confident in taking out of town guests or anyone you want to impress to Sovana and it will be a great dinner. But tonight, our server, Sophie made our Valentine’s a day truly memorable. She is one of a kind!

The food was fabulous as always but for the first time the service was not good. We had to ask for more water, desert menus, and the check. Are waitress was extremely overwhelmed and needed help. Also, every table around us received the taster sampler before you order accept us. We eat there a couple times a year and this was the first time we felt ignored. Of course, we’ll come back again because it’s our favorite restaurant in the area. Maybe just not for Valentines Day.

We love Sovana. We prefer to sit inside however we sat outside on the terrace and it was either too hot or freezing and a little too bright. Otherwise it was fabulous 😍

I will start with this and that I understand that it was Valentine's day. That alone puts a lot of pressure on the entire staff. However the food wasn't that good for these reasons.
Amish Brick chicken, polenta had absolutely no seasoning and a little too stiff. Never a good idea to put a garnish that is burnt. If lemon juice is to used to bring out the flavors, then add it before it leaves the kitchen.
Boar pasta, good flavor, but way too much of it. Less is more.
Charcuterie board was good. Nice presentation, combination of flavors. One suggestion is however that use local mushrooms. That's what the area is known for. High light it.
I am not just another customer that thinks that they are best judge because they are home cooks. No I am a highly trained Executive Chef. I have over 38 years in BOH management as a chef.
These are merely suggestion and I hope you take it that way.
Taste all your food before and during service. This should be done by who ever is running the kitchen, front of the house manager, lead line cook and random waitperson.

Great place and service. All of the food was good and our waiter was outstanding.

Also, had a good selection of wine and good whine by the glass which is rare even in some high end places. Pizza, pasta and homemade pitta were great.

We love good food; each dish of the four different dishes we had this night were spot on. We did bring our own wine for an $8 corkage fee per bottle [this could be a great move if you need to pair your great wine with something delicious]. Even the deserts were prepared to devour. I can say the meal of the night was my wife's Candele pasta with veal and mushrooms with the homemade pasta it was awesome. The light mushroom sauce with black truffles just a hint of heat to it was a great touch. After dinner we toured the room where the pasta magic happens... we had to see how this delicate pasta was made... imagining some fancy machinery with a corkscrew attachment handled by blessed and gifted hands after perfecting the dough ...and then seeing the freezer full of homemade ice cream and sorbet....was a whimsical ending to our great evening. And so we left a nice tip...smiles all around... ;o)

The food is always excellent at Sovana Bistro. We have dined there in very large groups and as couples and it is always consistently excellent. Love the vibe, the different interior and exterior dining spaces and also the option of byob (despite a full and lively bar)!,

Our food was delicious but service was not great. We got the feeling that since we brought our wine and our server wasn’t making the money on alcohol from us she ignored us. We sat for over 20 minutes and had to flag her down before she would even bring us wine glasses and an opener. Had to ask for bread when all the other tables had it brought to them.

We are regulars at Sovana. The cheese plate is excellent. We always enjoy it with cocktails.
The menu differs from the one shown on_line.
That was disappointing I was looking forward to the Strip Steak, but had the Rib Eye. It was very good. The menu on the web site lists 6 salads,
6 pizzas, and 6 pasta dishes. There were car fewer sejections.

I love the authenticity of this bistro! Lunch with friends there can never go wrong.
We took the express menu: a soup, a salad, a bun with..., a desert. All in small portions.
Very tasteful!
One little thing that was bothering my friend: the AC ... always need a scarf to keep it warm and cozy ;-)

1906 at Longwood Gardens was closed this month, so we came here for the first time on our way to visit Longwood Gardens . Great menu choices, great food! Large portions, we split a Meza plate and it was plenty . Can't wait to go back to order many other items, which looked really delicious! Very good service, friendly and informative staff. This lunch however seemed to be overly busy , so service was a little slow. Won't keep us from going back though!

Brunch was Ok today. Mom ordered a bagel with cream cheese, lox, and other fixings, but was not pleased. Bagel was cold. Dad got the French toast, and I had the heuevos rancheros, which was yummy! For dessert, I had the molten chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream. Our server, Caroline, was nice, but took way too long with the food. I don't think we are going back for brunch anytime soon.

My girlfriend had the braised short ribs and I had the ziti with a braised short rib sauce. Both meals were okay but a little short of expectation since we heard such great things. It's a nice restaurant but maybe a tad over priced. There are 2 better dinning options in Kennet Square.
