Souvlaki GR - LES
Service was terrible and the food made me sick. I never write reviews on here but this experience was truly horrible!
It was so nice to go there with my kids. The kids enjoy the surrounding and definitely the food.
one of my favorite greek places in NYC because of how authentic it is. Everytime I go I feel like I'm right back in Greece.
Cute vibe, delicious food and good value.
Enjoyed a wonderful lunch with an old friend. Wonderful menu selection so we shared appetizers (too many, but that's because we couldn't decide) and a salad.
Will be back.
A bit noisy when it gets packed but the food is good and fills you up.
One of my favorite restaurants..... next best thing to being in Greece!
Surprisingly good. Went post-theater with a friend. Were early; were shown a table inside. This was a Saturday night, and after sitting down for approximately 45 seconds, we both decided we could not stay. Not only was the noise level too loud to hear oneself think (much less talk) but the quality of the sound, bouncing off the charming white-washed walls was positively ear-piercing. We were given a choice of eating outside, which we happily took. Although the tables and chairs are placed at a rather alarming slant, we found that our food and drink happily did not slide into our laps. The front-of-the-house-fellow (manager, owner, I do not know) was incredibly helpful, thoughtful, and attentive. Answered all questions about nut content, etc etc. Noted that I almost did not order the lamb-burger because it came with a side sauce made from beets (I hate beets). Did order it, and it arrived with a tzatziki side sauce instead. All of the food was excellent and the portions enormous. We'd ordered a pair of appetizers to share and each our own main course. Both of us took home enough food for another meal. Recommend it heartily for food and service alone; and who anyone who doesn't mind very loud ambient noise (the place was packed). On a night other than Saturday, and a time other than 9 pm, it's probably fine, and the indoor space is quite charming. Will be back.
Cute place, but insanely loud and barely space to move. Honestly, my friend and I couldn’t wait to leave just so we could talk outside the restaurant.
Missing Greece, dine at Souvlaki GR! The restaurant resembles a street somewhere in Greece with the classic blue and white color scheme. Tables are small so you need to tuck in but the food and overall experience make it our favorite stop for authentic Greek cuisine. Our group of three started with three spreads with warm pita triangles. We shared a chopped salad and dined on the mixed grilled meats! All delicious and fresh, and more than enough. The house white wine is mild and fruity. On a busy night the noise level makes it a bit challenging but overall, the food and service is why you’re there!!
LOVED THIS PLACE!!!!! Can’t wait to go back ASAP
they forgot to put our order in and food took over 40 mins and still forgot some peoples meals and it was very unorganized and unsettling.
The food was amazing the french fries, however, a bit disappointing. We expected that the ambiance would be more lively with people singing along to the Greek & Turkish music like we've seen on instagram. We'll be trying midtown next time and maybe we'll find that there!
Delicious food, especially vegetarian options. Salads are large and priced well, but appetizers are a little pricey. Music was too loud and made it hard to have a conversation, and better air conditioning would have been nice.
I wanted to eat Greek food with my family, and the food they provided was really delicious. The meat is well-done and the seasonings are just right. we all ate happily without any food left. The inside seat is very cool and the entrance is a little hot, so please refer to it when making a reservation.
Do yourself a favor and buy a bottle of wine - the glasses are really small and still 12-14 bucks. Service was spotty and she was doing me a favor by taking our order. Wouldn't let us order a starter first - had to order the meal together. Sounds to me like they are forgetting that it's the customer experience that matters - not their profit-maximizing rules.
We come from Italy and We are in NYC for vacation, this is our 2nd time in Souvlaki and We love it for the Greek food that's very good... great service too.
Just a little bit noise for the high volume of the music into the restaurant.
Great place for dinner and to meet friends.
The restaurant is small, so a reservation is recommended.
The room temperature was hot and the service was slow. Cute ambiance but overrated in general. Prices are decent. Overall I felt the group left unsatisfied...fee hearty vegetarian options.
Thank you great service and great food
Service was on the slower side but the food made it worth it.
Food was delicious, the place was very nice. They need to improve a bit on the quality of service
Great greek food!!! Tables are a little crammed, but this is an easy go-to spot in LES
Intimate neighborhood gem. Attentive staff with a nice selection of food.
Excellent service and delicious food!!!
Fun environment...feels like you are in Mykonos. Food was good...nothing outstanding but overall solid. Would recommend. Online showed more menu items than were available (e.g. salmon).
Great low key meal with the family!!!
Loved everything about this place, the food the music the energy the service was amazing, the only reason why I took away one star was because we made a reservation for 10 pm and ended up only getting seated more than an hour later (feel like the restaurant should’ve atleast offered us a round of drinks on their behalf due to the long wait) but other than that it was amazing really tasted like a home cooked Greek meal. Recommend 100%
Had an 8:45 reservation for 4 people, someone even called me to confirm a few hours before.. when we arrived they clearly overbooked themselves and there was no sign of sitting down anywhere near our reservation time, no one really acknowledged us at all when I said we had a reservation. We ended up going to the other location on 53rd and it was very accommodating.
I just moved to the LES and I’ve been to Souvlaki GR 3 times in a week. The food is great, very authentic, and well priced. It gets loud around 8pm but there’s no way around it when the space is so small. The wait staff aren’t down your throat every second which is nice during the meal but hard when you’re trying to get the check. Definitely get the Greek salad and the 3 dips with extra pita!!!
Birthday celebrations. Great food and value for money.
Perfect authentic Greek food :) feels like you were in Greece
I loved this place!!! It feels like you're in Greece. Great value for food - definitely recommend the dips.
The food was good per usual, but this last experience wasn’t a fun one due to worse than usual service. Here’s my beef: the bottle of wine was served warm (must’ve been stored close to something that put off heat as it was well above room temp) and couldn’t do anything about it since it was swiftly opened and poured (no chance to taste). It actually made both of us queasy to the point that we bagged our food upon arrival and booked it home. I took the wine with me out of principle - it was still on the tab when I settled up.
was better in previous visits. The lamb chops were overcooked, chewy and not as tasty as previously. all food was brought out at once, with no room on table for it.
Crowded but added to overall flavor
Great ambiance, food, and service!
Wonderful cosy little greek restaurant. The avgolemoni soup was delicious homemade ! Friendly service too thank you!
