Great food in a lovely setting. The menu is varied and everything that we ordered was wonderful. I recommend that you make a reservation. If the weather is nice, ask to sit outside.
Southerleigh is always a great dining choice. The food is good, service is good, atmosphere is good.
We were invited by some friends to visit the Pearl. We decided to eat at the Southerly. This is a beautiful location and very comfortable restaurant. I ordered 3 eggs sunny side up with sausages. My eggs were over cooked and my biscuit was cold. Our waffle was also cold and the butter was so cold you could not spread it. Needless to say, we were disappointed. Normally I would send this all back and start over, but we were with new friends and I did not want them to feel uncomfortable with this situation.
Love the location and ambiance, for starters we tried the Pretzel which was good, but didn't really get a hint of beer cheese as we could onlybtaste that of Honeymustard and Ranch. No other appetizers were available as the majority had sold out earlier in the day.
Onto entrees.. the ribeye that was ordered was cooked to temp but could not really be enjoyed as it was bathed in an overpowering glaze that only left the flavor comparable to that of a Salisbury steak, my guest ordered the Porcetta jambalaya which they thoroughly enjoyed and complimented many times throughout. Our sides were quite tasty which were Mac&Cheese/Country Whipped Potatoes and 2 loafs of Corn Bread. No real wines available for pairing nor any stiff cocktails as these are mainly catered to female clientele, but the German Brewed Lager is good but can't have more than 2 since very filling. All-in-all the service was exquisite, very attentive and communicative, but the selections were limited hence I gave this a 3 star rating
Good food, but a little pricey for the portion sizes. Go for the sandwiches over the big plates for better value. Great location at the Pearl with indoor and outdoor seating - of weather permits, sit outside to enjoy the unique atmosphere.
Overall great experience.
Anniversary meal and everything was great. This is one of our favorites. Watermelon salad, deviled eggs (bacon jam is amazing) and shrimp boil were all terrific.
Very enjoyable environment. Food was good. Service was very good. Problem with noise making it hard to hear one another at a 4 person table.
Had a reservation and were seated immediately. Service was good. Food was outstanding! We had the scallops with spinach. Very rich with flavor. We also had the fried chicken. Very hot and cooked to perfection. The mac and cheese was good, tasted like velveeta. The only thing we didn’t care for were the green beans. Just not a tomato fan and that’s what’s used with them. The highlight was the fresh, raw oysters. Delightful!
Thank you Mia and Larry for the warm service !!! Awesome place to dine. Don’t miss out on an rememberable experience
Had a 6P reservation, got right in & seated on the patio as requested. Servers were friendly & attentive, food was good and abundant. It was delivered quickly & was hot when it arrived at the table. The only small misstep was the side salad - ordered a Garden salad - a Caesar salad was delivered but quickly replaced with the correct salad.
My wife and I wanted to take my parents out for a birthday dinner. We arrived on time for our reservation and were immediately seated. After waiting 20 minutes without being greeted by a waiter, we got up and left.
Awesome as always. Love their Fried Chicken and the Pretzel’s!!
Our server Eric today was great. I feel lately in a lot of hospitality industries the quality of service is lacking, today was not the case. Food here is always pretty good, overall great experience.
Staff was friendly and helpful with the menu. Food was amazing.
Great outdoor area! Delicious food and drinks. Great customer service
We ate outside 12/31/21 during the Plague’s 4th Wave. The wind and flies (hardly the restaurant’s fault) were formidable, food above average, service excellent. Eat inside when it’s safe again.
Good food, ate outside nice ambiance.
Ordered the snapper but they were out, so I ordered the redfish instead. I did not like the topping, it was too much and the fish would’ve been fine without it. Their best side was the Mac and cheese.
My wife and I had some family visit from up north. I wanted to explore the Pearl with them. I decided to book a reservation here and ALL of us were stunned as soon as we walked in the restaurant. The style and decor was right up our alley. Very rustic feel but super clean and amazing. The Christmas decor was on point with it. Seating was comfy and we were served water right away, with our server right behind waiting for our drink order. Drinks came fast. The food was amazing, and service was top notch. I will easily come back here and recommend it to anyone. Thanks for such an awesome experience we loved it.
Awesome environment really cool donning setting the jambalaya was fantastic!!
The food is not good at all.
We had a large table in the back, that was not a problem . We were very well taken care of . Are party included children, they made sure their food was prompt. The food was excellent.
Large or small parties , we’ll be back .
Had reservations and came during the all day menu on a Tuesday. All they were serving was the very limited brunch menu. What a let down.
Very disappointed to say the least.
My wife and I had high expectations based on photos and ratings, and the atmosphere was decent, and the server was courteous, although very slow and did not ask once for refills (we went for early lunch at open, so there were only a couple of customers other than us).
The most disappointing was that all of the food we ate, from salad to dessert, were what we would rate at the lowest ranking in any restaurant we have eaten in our travels around the world.
The $10 “Southerleigh Caesar” salad that came out after about 15 minutes of waiting had no taste except Romain lettuce and Parmesan cheese (no dressing??), with extremely stale croutons that felt like they were leftovers from a week ago, and if it wasn’t for the pickles mixed in, it would have been like eating a bag of Romain lettuce with sprinkle of Parmesan cheese at HEB. We ate half the salad together to show respect to the ingredients used, but we could only eat one crouton each and left dozens untouched.
Pepsi was just sweet syrupy liquid without fizz, and the $17 “Southerleigh Chicken Sandwich” was dry, with no other comments to make other than that we honestly wished we were at Popeye’s. By the time we reluctantly stuffed the last bite of the sandwich (respect), we felt a little depressed that both the salad and entree with the restaurant’s signature were so low grade.
Now regrettably, we decided to try for recovery and ordered the $9 Cinnamon Roll for dessert (only dessert on the menu). After waiting for over 5 minutes, it came, and we knew just by the appearance that the icing was hard and the outside was dry. We cut the outside ring, and just as we thought, it was dry, and lukewarm. We thought as long as they microwaved, at least the center should be warmer, but even the center was dry. We could only eat about a third together.
We are not ones to leave leftovers behind, but this was an exception.
This was the worst $50 w/tip spent on food.
Not recommend at all.
Even though they knew it was a special occasion, they sat us at a table that has a zero score when it comes to intimacy. The table is right below a ceiling flood light. After a while my wife and I felt as if we should have applied sunscreen with an SPF of 50.
The wine was horrible. Tasted like vinegar. The entree was minus some ingredients, but we weren’t told ahead of time; we had to bring it up. Service was slow. Extremely slow. For screwing up our entree, they waived the price of dessert. There is a lot more they’ll need to do in future to eradicate the bad taste in our mouths.
Was very underwhelmed by the food. Beer was subpar and room temperature water. Everyone was nice.
I had the scallops. They were no bigger than a quarter if not smaller. I left hungry.. The only side dish that wasn’t gluten free or without pork was mashed potatoes. Boring.
We will not recommend this restaurant.
Ordered fried frog
Normally a favorite of mine but this last visit the food was not what it normally is. I was also missing the chimichuri sauce on my steak.
Our family went for a wonderful holiday dinner. They were willing to accommodate twin three year olds. Food was delicious , service was excellent and atmosphere was spectacular .
Food was amazing and service was awesome
Loved the brunch. Our party had seafood Benedict’s and ham Benedict’s.Outdoor dining was very pleasant.
They use to have one of the best chicken sandwich in SA, but now that they've changed to dark meat - forget
Their salads also now offer only dark meat chicken.
Very limited lunch menu when they offer brunch.
We use to enjoy going to Southerleigh, now we don't plan on returning.
Thank you for another wonderful dining experience!!!
Lovely spot down in the Pearl neighborhood. We ate on the patio, and had a little trouble getting a table initially as we were asked at the front door to wait for a text message that never came.
Once seated, the service was great, and the ambiance is always amazing in this area!
Great service, wonderful food, good wines for people who prefer wine with food. The beer is excellent. We will be back.
Southerleigh is always top notch! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Crawfish Roll is especially delightful twist on lobster roll and so tasty! Putin’s Revenge is a real treat! Excellent service always!
Great restaurant, the food and service are always very good.
We we stopped in for a weekday lunch with our family over Christmas break. Everything was perfect!
Would go back again!
